Powers: Kiwi possesses the ability to utilize standard ki blasts, as well as more concentrated ki wave of his own creation called the Berry Beam. He has also mastered the power-increasing technique known as the Daio-Ken. Each level of Daio-Ken achieved will double Kiwi's power for a short time, at a cost to his own health.
Background: Kiwi's past before his appearance in the Dragon Ball manga is unknown. However, in Dragon Ball, Kiwi appeared as Vegeta's rival on Freeza Planet 79. At the time, both fighters had about the same power level, but Vegeta quickly surpassed Kiwi's power and killed the purple alien on planet Namek. Many assumed this was the end for Kiwi. They assumed wrong.
Through as yet unrevealed means, Kiwi was resurrected. However, before his return to the mortal plane, Kiwi was granted a rare opportunity-- in order to balance the scales between good and evil, whenever anyone good is allowed to seek training from the almighty King Kai (Kaio-Sama), an evil person must be sent to train with Kai's dark opposite, Daio-Akki. In the case of Tenshinhan, Chaotzu, Yamcha, and Piccolo going to Kai, this balance was struck by Kiwi being sent to Daio-Akki.
While on Daio-Akki's dismal planetoid in the Afterlife, Kiwi mastered the technique that the evil martial artist had created to counter King Kai's Kaio-Ken. Daio christened this move the Daio-Ken. The basic principle was identical to that of the Kaio-Ken, in that it exponentially increased one's power as they used it. Kiwi proved to Daio-Akki that he had the will to master the technique, and he did so.
After becoming adept in the art of Daio-Ken, Kiwi returned to the land of the living through some means he has yet to reveal. He located a Saiyan space pod and traveled to Freeza Planet 79 to find Vegeta and avenge himself. Upon his arrival, Kiwi found that Freeza and his father were dead, and that the planet had been conquered by the self-proclaimed "New Ginyu Force," and renamed Planet Skwash.
Kiwi immediately challenged the leader of the group, Coliflur, to a battle for supremacy. Unfortunately, even with the power of his Daio-Ken attack, Kiwi could not best the Saiyan in combat. Ultimately defeated, Kiwi pledged his loyalty to Coliflur until something better came along -- on the condition that the new Ginyu Force alter its mission statement slightly from avenging all those wronged by Freeza to avenging all those wronged by Freeza and/or Vegeta.
After spending some time with the Ginyu Force, Kiwi was instrumental in the defeat of their first major foe, Tamoto. Following this battle, Tamoto's mother Koganut was incarcerated by the Ginyus and began flirting with Kiwi relentlessly. This game eventually grew into something more, and the two of them formed a romantic relationship (though neither would admit their love for one another to anyone else). After a few years, Kiwi and Koganut had their first child, a boy they named Mango.
During the battle with the reborn Captain Ginyu, Kiwi became privy to the fact that his brother Pinapo, who he long believed to be dead, may still be alive. Kiwi has vowed to find his brother, but has promised Koganut he will wait to do so until Mango is old enough to be brought along on the quest
