Madison Central (5-0) vs. Scott County (3-2)

Scott County rallied from a 14-0 deficit midway through the second quarter to defeat Madison Central 24-21.  Madison Central dominated play in the first quarter as they led 7-0 on a tackle-breaking 32 yard run by Keshawn Simpson and held a 111-25 advantage in total yards.  The Indians extended the lead to 14-0 early in the second quarter on a two yard run by Isaiah Kavanaugh.  Later in the quarter, facing a fourth-and-11 from the Scott County 49, Madison Central passed out of punt formation but the ball was intercepted by Marcus Hill.  The turnover seemed to revitalize Scott County and the Cardinals tied the score 14-14 by halftime on two TD passes of 42 and 25 yards from Cory Cronin to freshman star Josh Walls

Madison Central took a 21-14 lead on the first play from scrimmage in the second half as Isaiah Kavanaugh sped 80 yards down the sideline for the score.  Mr. Walls was at it again early in the fourth quarter as he ran 49 yards for a TD and the conversion kick knotted the score at 21-21.  Jay Willmott kicked a field goal of 36 yards with 4:13 remaining on the clock to give Scott County a 24-21 lead.  Madison Central refused to fold and they marched to the Scott County 10 yard line before an ineligible receiver penalty forced Madison Central's Ryan Horn to attempt a 40 yard field goal, which was short.  Scott County took over on their own 20 yard line with 1:11 left on the clock and ran out the clock in three plays.

Scott County recorded 12 first downs and 245 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized six times for 50 yards and lost a fumble.  Madison Central recorded 14 first downs and 237 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized five times for 48 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.
