Henry Clay (1-0) vs. Boyle County (0-1)

Henry Clay QB Ryan Phillippi connected with Aaron Boyd on a 28 yard scoring strike with 13 seconds remaining on the clock to give the Blue Devils a 47-43 victory over Boyle County.  Henry Clay held a 40-14 lead over Boyle County after three quarters.  The Rebels used their short passing attack to pull within 12 points, 40-28, with 6:46 remaining in the game.  Boyle County recovered a fumble in their own 44 yard line and scored on a three yard run by Bryce Perry and a conversion kick making the score 40-35 with two minutes remaining on the clock.

Boyle County held on defense and took over on the Henry Clay 48 after a punt.  Bryce Perry connected with Jacob Enlow on a 36 yard scoring strike and a two point conversion to Jordan Aumiller to give Boyle County a 43-40 lead with 1:14 remaining on the clock.  Henry Clay started their winning drive on their own 29 with 1:08 remaining in the game.  The Blue Devils took the ball to the Boyle County 28 yard line setting the stage for Phillippi's connected with Boyd's heroics.

Henry Clay recorded 31 first downs and 577 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized 12 times for 100 yards and lost one fumble for the game.  Boyle County had 25 first downs and 360 yards of total offense.  The The Rebels were penalized seven times for 64 yards and lost one fumble.

Ryan Phillippi led the Henry Clay ground attack with 222 yards and TD runs of 1, 20, and 49 yards on 24 carries.  Dontey Gay added 96 yards and two TDs on 16 carries.  Phillippi also completed 16 of 27 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns.  Aaron Boyd, a 6-6 Sr. who is being targeted by several major colleges, caught seven passes for 203 yards and two TDs.  Dontey Gay added six receptions for 32 yards.  Mike Federspiel led the defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles.  Ed Nzolameso added five solo and four assisted tackles.

Cole Stevens led the Boyle County ground game with 48 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.  Ron Crutchfield added 41 yards on five carries.  Bryce Perry completed 23 of 36 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns.  Jordan Aumiller caught six passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns.  Jacob Enlow added five receptions for 66 yards and a TD.  Christian Williams returned three kickoffs for 134 yards including a 94 yard return for a touchdown.  Cole Stevens led the Rebel defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles with a fumble recovery.  Ron Crutchfield added five solo and four assisted tackles.
