Christian County (1-1) vs. Henry Clay (3-0) September 8, 2006
Christian County has lost to Bowling Green and defeated North Hardin to begin the season. QB Keith Tandy has led the Colonels with 402 yards through the air and 255 yards on the ground. Christian County lost a 41-38 double overtime thriller to Henry Clay last season.
Henry Clay has roared out of the gate with a 3-0 record including a noteworthy victory over Bell County on Log Mountain last week. Chase Minnifield led the Blue Devils last week with four touchdowns.
Ryan Phillippi scored on a one yard TD run with 27 seconds remaining on the clock to give Henry Clay a 50-46 victory over Christian County. Henry Clay led 43-31 with 7:46 remaining in the game but Christian County rallied to take a 46-43 lead on a Keith Tandy seven yard run and t two point conversion with 2:33 remaining on the clock.
Henry Clay got a 31 yard kickoff return by Clark Jeter to start their drive on their own 46 yard line. The key play in this drive came after Aaron Boyd caught a five yard pass from Ryan Phillippi at the Christian County 44. The Colonels were penalized 15 yards on a face mask penalty, giving the Blue Devils a first down on the Christian County 29. Six plays later, Phillippi scored the winning touchdown.
Henry Clay recorded 23 first downs and 490 yards of total offense. The Blue Devils were penalized 14 times for 110 yards. Christian County had 27 first downs and 599 yards of total offense. The Colonels lost a fumble and were penalized six times for 72 yards. Both teams were efficient in the red-zone as they each converted on four of four opportunities.
Dontey Gay led the Henry Clay ground game with 97 yards and a TD on 18 carries. Ryan Phillippi added 82 yards and a TD on 14 carries. Phillippi completed 20 of 28 passes for 233 yards with four touchdowns. Chase Minnifield caught nine passes for 116 yards with two touchdowns. Clark Jeter added three receptions for 100 yards and scored three TDs for the night. Stephon Burton led the Blue Devil defense with 10 solo and three assisted tackles.
Keith Tandy led the Christian County ground game with 102 yards and a TD on 17 carries. Tandy also completed 19 of 36 passes for 413 yards with four touchdowns. Ramone White caught five passes for 172 yards and a touchdown. C. J. Trotter added four receptions for 85 yards and a score. Chr. McReynolds recorded three receptions for 83 yards. Treven Bailey led the defense with 12 solo and two assisted tackles.
