Boyle County (1-0) vs. Henry Clay (1-0) August 26, 2006
The Henry Clay Blue Devils scored on five plays of 25 yards or longer to record a 53-10 victory over Boyle County. Boyle County led 10-7 in the first quarter but Henry Clay exploded for 46 unanswered points. Boyle County had 26 more offensive plays (78-52) than Henry Clay but the victors averaged 10 yards per offensive play.
Henry Clay held a 519-389 advantage in total yardage including a 354-180 edge in passing yardage. Henry Clay lost a fumble, had two passes intercepted, and was penalized three times for 36 yards. Boyle County had three passes intercepted, lost two fumbles, and was flagged four times for 31 yards. Boyle County held a 31:05-16:55 advantage in possession time.
Ryan Phillippi led the Henry Clay ground game with 74 yards including a 73 yard TD return on four carries. Dontey Gay added 61 yards on 10 carries. Ryan Phillippi completed 11 of 12 passes for 162 yards with three TDs and one interception. Cole Mielcarek completed six of nine passes for 44 yards with three TDs and one interception. Patrick Rouse completed five of six passes for 91 yards with two TDs. Chase Minniefield completed two of three passes for 57 yards. Aaron Boyd caught seven passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Clark Jeter added three receptions for 37 yards and a TD. Tyler Hooker only had one reception but it was for a 70 yard TD. Grant Devinney led the defense with nine solo and three assisted tackles. Marcus Bentley added four solo and four assisted tackles. Chase Minniefield recorded five solo and one assisted tackles.
Reese McShara led Boyle County's ground game with 70 yards on eight carries. Bryce Perry added 41 yards and a TD on nine carries. Cole Stevens chipped in with 35 yards on 11 carries. Bryce Perry completed 18 of 28 passes for 147 yards with two interceptions. Josh Miller and Grant Tamme caught five passes each for 58 and 24 yards respectively. Brett Marshall led the defense with five solo tackles. Jordan Walker added four solo and one assisted tackles and Jeremy Bardin chipped in with four solo tackles.
