Henry Clay (7-0) vs. Tates Creek (1-5) October 7, 2005

The high-powered Henry Clay offense has averaged 47 points per game and averaged 448 yards of total offense per game.  Rod Johnson leads the ground attack with 955 yards and 18 touchdowns while Salin Simpson has passed for 1373 yards and 14 touchdowns.  Tates Creek has just managed nine points and 179 yards per game.

The score was tied 7-7 at halftime but Henry Clay scored five touchdowns in their first five possessions in the second half in a 41-14 victory over Tates Creek.  Ty Sparks gave Tates Creek a 7-0 lead on a two yard run with 8:29 left in the first quarter.  Rod Johnson scored on a one yard run for Henry Clay to tie the score 7-7 with 4:31 left in the half.  The Blue Devils settled the issue with three touchdowns in the last 5:40 of the third quarter.

Henry Clay held a 528-216 yard advantage in total offense.  The Blue Devils gained 318 yards on the ground and 210 yards through the air.  Henry Clay also enjoyed a 19-11 margin in first downs.  Henry Clay was penalized nine times for 73 yards and lost one fumble.  Tates Creek was flagged six times for 17 yards and lost a fumble, plus had a pass intercepted.

Rod Johnson led the Henry Clay ground attack with 206 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.  Salin Simpson added 66 yards and a score on five carries.  Simpson completed 11 of 18 passes for 210 yards with three touchdown passes.  Clark Jeter caught three passes for 62 yards.  Chase Minnifield, Rod Johnson, Aaron Boyd, and Sam Gardner each caught two passes with both of Boyd's receptions being touchdowns.  Stephon Burton led the Blue Devil defense with five solo and five assisted tackles while Ryan Breen added three solo and seven assisted tackles.

Ty Sparks carried the ball 31 times for 124 yards and a TD for Tates Creek.  Darell Davis added 33 yards and a TD on four carries.  Pete Nochta completed two passes of five attempts for 16 yards.  Spencer Bridges led the Commodore defense with four solo and eight assisted tackles and a fumble recovery.  Dale Smith added five solo and four assisted tackles.
