Western (2-0) vs. Lafayette (2-1) September 10, 2004

Western, a 2A school, is off to a blazing start on offense defeating North Oldham 69-6 and Trimble County 84-0.  Corey Goodson has rushed for 425 yards and nine touchdowns despite seeing limited action in the blowouts.  Western lost to Lafayette 35-18 last season.

Lafayette's defense has given up less than 200 yards a game.  The Lafayette defense has been especially stingy as they have pitched shutouts in eight of the last nine quarters.  QB Jered Patrick has passed for 579 yards and Tony Rawlings and Demario Richardson have paced the ground attack.  Jonny Meyer has 13 receptions for 105 yards. 

Lafayette dominated this game as they held a 327-105 edge in offense and shut down Western's high octane offense in a 21-6 victory.  The Generals held a 15-0 lead early in the fourth quarter on TD passes from Jered Patrick to Chris Tune and Eric Heathman.  Western cut the deficit to 15-6 on a two yard run by Justin Collins with 6:24 left in the game.  Lafayette scored an insurance TD on a 20 yard run by Tony Rawlings to close out the scoring.  Western was penalized eight times for 52 yards while Lafayette was flagged 10 times for 100 yards.  Western lost two fumbles and had one pass intercepted while Lafayette suffered one interception.

Lafayette's ground attack was led by Tony Rawlings with 128 yards and a TD on 24 carries.  Jered Patrick completed 12 of 25 passes for 168 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.  Enrique Shaw had four receptions for 42 yards while Eric Heathman added three receptions for 61 yards.  Hunter Petit led the General defense with six solo and one assisted tackle. 

Corey Goodson led the Western ground game with 63 yards on 16 carries.  D. Patterson returned three kickoffs for 101 yards with a long return of 68 yards.  Robert Martin led the defense with four solo and five assisted tackles.  Stanley Pruitt added five solo and two assisted tackles including 2.5 tackles for losses of five yards.
