Tates Creek (8-3) vs. Madison Central (10-1) November 12, 2004

Madison Central utilized their big play capabilities to squeak by Tates Creek by a score of 28-25.  Tates Creek took a 17-14 lead late in the third quarter but Andrew Mathis returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards to the Tates Creek 20 yard line.  Paul Warford ran 12 yards for a TD two plays later and Phillip Herbst added the conversion to give the Indians a 21-17 lead.  Paul Warford raced 75 yards for a TD with 6:28 remaining in the game to give Madison Central a 28-17 lead.  Brad Willoughby scored on a one yard run and a two point conversion to pull Tates Creek to within three, 28-25, with 3:35 remaining in the game.  Madison Central took the ensuing kickoff and ran out the clock to preserve the victory. 

Madison Central held a 281-230 yard advantage in total offense.  Madison Central was penalized eight times for 54 yards while Tates Creek was flagged four times for 40 yards.  However, one of Tates Creek's penalties came at a very critical juncture of the game as they received a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after they had stopped Madison Central on a third-and-nine play with less than three minutes remaining in the game. 

Madison Central was led on the ground tonight by Paul Warford who carried the ball 10 times for 127 yards including TD runs of 12 and 75 yards.  Charles Kavanaugh added 69 yards and on nine carries.  The Indians were very effective on the ground tonight as they averaged 6.9 yards per carry on 41 rushing attempts.  The Madison Central defense was led by Derrick Warren with six solo and five assisted tackles. 

Brad Willoughby led the Tates Creek ground game with 74 yards including two one yard TD runs on 23 rushing attempts.  Kenzale Bell added 72 yards on 21 carries.  Eric Choat led the Commodore defense with eight solo and six assisted tackles.
