Scott County (5-2) vs. Tates Creek (5-2) October 15, 2004

This is a very important district game for both teams as each enter this game with 3-0 district records.  Scott County coach Jim McKee has plenty of weapons on offense to stretch opposing defenses.  Ted Sberna has rushed for 814 yards and 13 touchdowns while Percy Hargrove has added 565 yards on the ground.  QB Cody Andrews has passed for 507 yards and his favorite target, 6-4 Sr. William Lewis, has 29 receptions for 439 yards. 

Coach Mark Willoughby's Tates Creek Commodores have won three of four district meetings with Scott County and already own district wins over Henry Clay, Lafayette, and Paul Dunbar this season.  The Commodores will test the Cardinal defense with their groud game, led by Brian Williamson and Kenzale Bell, who have combined for over 1100 yards this season. 

Scott County held a 469-180 yard advantage in total offense and the Cardinal defense pitched a shutout in a 28-0 victory over Tates Creek.  The potent Scott County ground attack rolled up 309 yards and averaged 6.9 yards per carry.  Scott County was penalized eight times for 113 yards while Tates Creek was flagged three times for 25 yards. 

Scott County was led tonight by Ted Sberna, who carried the ball 25 times for 224 yards and scored on runs of 16 and 15 yards.  Sberna also caught a pass for 54 yards and threw a 17 yard TD pass to William LewisPercy Hargrove added 78 yards on 17 rushing attempts.  Cody Andrews completed seven of nine passes for 143 yards and one touchdown.  William Lewis caught seven passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.  Cody Courtney led the defense with six solo and four assisted tackles.  Courtney also intercepted two passes.  Jimmie Warren added 10 assisted tackles. 

Kenzale Bell led the Tates Creek ground game with 53 yards on 12 carries.  QB Pete Nochta completed five of 10 passes for 48 yards and was intercepted twice.  Daniel Covington, had three receptions for 29 yards.  Eric Choat led the Commodore defense with six solo and 10 assisted tackles.  Barrett Singleton added three solo and six assisted stops.
