Lafayette (6-2) vs. Henry Clay (4-5) October 22, 2004

Lafayette's offense has relied more on its ground attack after QB Jered Partrick went down with a season-ending injury.  Tony Rawlings has led the Lafayette ground game with 499 yards and four touchdowns on 112 rushing attempts.  DeMario Richardson has 81 carries for 351 yards and three TDs.  Jonny Meyer and Enrique Shaw have caught 18 passes for 209 and 198 yards respectively.  Hunter Petit has led the Generals' defense with 28 solo and 19 assisted tackles.  Enrique Shaw has tallied 24 solo and 12 assisted stops plus four interceptions. 

Henry Clay QB Salin Simpson has completed 109 of 234 passes for 1243 yards and seven touchdowns with 14 interceptions.  Evan Acree has led the ground game with 513 yards and six TDs on 93 rushing attempts.  Clayton Heien leads the receiving corps with 31 receptions for 406 yards and one score.  Heien has been everywhere for the Blue Devils this season as he has rushed for a score, returned a punt and a kickoff for scores, ran back a fumble for a TD, and scored two touchdowns on interception returns.  Jermaine Birch has led the defense with 34 solo and 36 assisted tackles.  Cameron Henzman has added 28 solo and 37 assisted tackles plus five interceptions. 

Henry Clay took a 21-0 lead in the third quarter, survived a comeback by Lafayette, and claimed a 28-13 victory.  Henry Clay held a comfortable 21-0 lead after scoring their third touchdown, but Lafayette's DeMario Richardson went 93 yards on the ensuing kickoff return to make the score 21-7 with 8:34 remaining in the third quarter.  Richardson struck again on a 64 yard TD run to make the score 21-13 with 3:09 remaining in the quarter.  Henry Clay scored an insurance TD in the final quarter to make the final score 28-13. 

Henry Clay held a 348-136 edge in total offense, but was penalized 14 times for 116 yards.  Lafayette was flagged only three times for 29 yards.  Lafayette lost two fumbles tonight while Henry Clay had one pass intercepted. 

The victorious Blue Devils were led on the ground tonight by Evan Acree, who carried the ball 28 times for 187 yards and scored on TD runs 3, 30, and 4 yards.  QB Salin Simpson completed seven of 16 passes for 86 yards with one interception.  Jared Green paced the Blue Devil defense with six solo tackles including three tackles for losses of six yards.  Tyler Sexton added five solo and two assisted tackles including 3.5 tackles for losses of 12 yards. 

DeMario Richardson led Lafayette with 96 yards and a TD on 12 carries.  Josh Hamperian led the defense with eight solo and two assisted tackles including three tackles for losses of seven yards.  Hunter Petit added seven solo and two assisted tackles while Enrique Shaw chipped in with six solo and two assisted tackles.
