Lafayette (6-1) vs. Paul L. Dunbar (5-1) October 10, 2003

Lafayette enteres the game with a six game winning streak and a 3-0 district slate, while Dunbar is 2-0 in district play. 

Lafayette has been led on the ground by Kevin Trahan, who has gained 580 yards and six touchdowns on 101 rushing attempts.  QB Brian Dinger has completed 47 of 85 passes for 602 yards and six touchdowns.  Dinger has thrown six interceptions.  Spencer Fain has 21 receptions for 309 yards and three scores while Nic Mullins has caught 12 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns.  Fain has tallied 810 all-purpose yards this season including 163 yards on 14 rushing attempts, 309 receiving yards, eight punt returns for 138 yards, six kick returns for 193 yards, and three interceptions for seven yards.  Chris Wiseman and Hunter Petit have recorded 48.5 and 45.5 tackles respectively. 

Dunbar has been led on the ground by Bobby Vyverberg, who has carried the ball 88 times for 635 yards and five touchdowns.  QB Davis Stanley has completed 40 if 61 passes for 633 yards and eight touchdown passes.  Stanley has four interceptions this season.  Thurman Clay has 10 receptions for 220 yards and two touchdowns.  Drew Roberts, Ryan Combs, Zach Brewer, and Daniel Doss have led the Dunbar defense with 30, 27, 23, and 21 tackles respectively. 

Dunbar trailed 6-0 at halftime but scored 38 consecutive points in the second half on their way to a 38-12 victory over Lafayette.  Lafayette scored on a two yard run by Myron Russell following an interception by Chris Wiseman to give Lafayette a 6-0 lead with 29 seconds left in the half.  Dunbar exploded out of the locker room in the second half to dominate on both sides of the ball.  Bobby Vyverberg scored on a two yard run and after Dunbar recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, Davis Stanley scored on a 12 yard run.  Lafayette's woes continued as Dunbar stopped the Generals attempt to gain a first down on a fake punt.  The Bulldogs took over at the Lafayette 34 and later scored on a Stanley one yard run and a two-point conversion to run the margin to 21-6. 

Dunbar scored 17 more points in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to 38-6 before Lafayette scored late in the game on a 43 yard run by Tony Rawlings.  Dunbar held a 275-181 yard advantage on total offense.  Dunbar's opportunistic defense recovered one fumble and intercepted four passes.  The Bulldogs were penalized 10 times for 72 yards while Lafayette was flagged three times for 29 yards. 

Dunbar was led on offense by Bobby Vyverberg, who carried the ball 19 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns.  Sean O'Brien put the "foot" in football tonight as he punted twice for an average of 45 yards and also kicked a 42 yard field goal.  Drew Roberts recorded five solo and five assisted tackles for Dunbar.  Anthony Sweat had five solo and one assisted tackle, plus he was credited with two interceptions, four pass deflections, and a QB sack.  Tony Rawlings led Lafayette with 73 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.  Hunter Petit and Jeff Caudill each recorded five solo and three assisted tackles for Lafayette.
