Henry Clay (4-3) vs. Tates Creek (3-3) October 10, 2003

Henry Clay is 3-0 in district play and has won four games in a row after starting the season with three straight losses.  RB Rod Johnson leads the ground game with 563 yards while QB Salin Simpson has passed for 563 yards and four touchdowns.  Multi-talented Aubrey White has accounted for 853 all-purpose yards.  The Blue Devils have been led on defense by Josh Wright, Mychal Dabney, and Steven Dominianni

The Tates Creek Commodores have dropped their first two district games and need a win tonight to edge back into playoff contention.  Quincy Taylor has led the Tates Creek offense with 859 rushing yards. 

Henry Clay star Aubrey White made big plays on offense all evening, but his defensive gem in overtime preserved a 28-27 Henry Clay victory as he blocked a Tates Creek extra point attempt.  The Commodores had pulled to within one, 28-27, but White used his athletic ability to go over the line for the block. 

White opened the scoring tonight with an 80 yard punt return for a score and also added a four yard TD run in overtime.  Tates Creek held a 21-14 lead at the end of three quarters but Henry Clay tied the game 21-21 early in the final period on a three yard run by Clayton Heien and the conversion by Peter Mashni

Henry Clay held a 347-219 yard edge in total offense but was penalized 10 times for 73 yards while Tates Creek was only flagged twice for ten yards.  Henry Clay was led on the ground by Rod Johnson who carried the ball 21 times for 112 yards and a TD.  Aubrey White caught five passes for 61 yards and scored on an 80 yard punt return and a four yard run.  QB Salin Simpson completed 11 of 22 passes for 187 yards and was intercepted twice.  Steven Dominianni led the defense with seven solo and three assisted tackles.  Mychal Dabney and R. Mielcarek each recorded six solo and three assisted tackles. 

Tates Creek was led on offense by Quincy Taylor, who carried the ball 24 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns.  Daniel Covington caught a TD pass of 26 yards, had a total of 107 yards on kick return yardage and intercepted a pass.  B. Williamson and Zach Jones each recorded six solo and one assisted tackle.
