Henry Clay (2-3) vs. Bryan Station (1-4) September 26, 2003

Coach Sam Simpson's Henry Clay Blue Devils started the season 0-3 against top competition, but have rebounded to win two in a row.  They defeated Scott County in a 42-41 double overtime thriller last week.  6-0 223 pound So. FB Rod Johnson has led the ground game with 381 yards and four touchdowns on 72 carries.  So. QB Salin Simpson has completed 31 of 65 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns.  Sr. WR Aubrey White has caught 12 passes for 243 yards and five touchdowns.  The defense has been led by LB Steven Dominianni, CB Mychal Dabney, and LB Josh Wright with 28, 26, and 22 tackles respectively.

Coach Traye Moore's Bryan Station Defenders have gotten off to a rocky start but have shown flashes of promise on offense.  QB Drew Moran has completed 27 of 71 passes for 655 yards and five touchdowns.  RB Chris Seals has carried the ball 77 times for 420 yards and six touchdowns.  Jamuan Andrews has caught 18 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns while Larmont Lawson has 13 receptions for 339 yards and two scores.  Jr. QB Chris Tichenor filled in admirably for Moran last week by throwing for 162 yards and a score in a 41-6 loss to Lafayette.  Jamuan Andrews, Chris Seals, and Corey Blackburn have led the defense with 22, 22, and 20.5 tackles respectively.

Whatever could go wrong did go wrong for Bryan Station tonight as Henry Clay cruised to a 48-0 victory.  Bryan Station was missing five key players in WR/DB Corey Blackburn, WR/LB Larmont Lawson, QB/K Drew Moran, 6-3 293 pound DL Dwayne Coy, and 6-6 300 pound OL/DL Kevin Jacobs.  Henry Clay held a 371-23 yard edge in total offense.  The Blue Devils scored on all six of their scoring opportunities in the "red zone".  Henry Clay was flagged 13 times for 105 yards while Bryan Station was whistled for three penalties totaling 25 yards.

Henry Clay was led on the ground tonight by Rod Johnson with 77 yards and two scores on 12 carries.  Clayton Heien carried the ball seven times for 59 yards and a score while DiQuann Mack added 50 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.  Quarterbacks Salin Simpson and Justin Farmer combined for five completions in eight attempts for 87 yards and a score.  Unfortunately for Bryan Station tonight, most of the offense came on two kickoff returns by Jamuan Andrews totalling 98 yards including a return of 60 yards.
