Introduction
Game One will pit defending Class A Champion Danville against Class 3A power Lexington Catholic. The Danville Admirals, coached by Sam Harp, lost a lot of talent through graduation but they still rank as the team to beat for the Class A title. QB Adam Schott, has thrown for more than 4500 yards in his career and 51 scoring strikes. They also have a speedy running back in Kelvin Turner and a dangerous receiver in Wesley Cloud. Danville opened the season with a 64-0 victory over Washington County. Coach Bob Sphire's Lexington Catholic Knights finished 12-1 last season and despite graduating a lot of talent last year should be a force again this year. QB Jacob Doss has connected on 75 scoring strikes and passed for more than 5200 yards in his career. WR John Logan is one of the fastest players in the state and is a threat anytime he touches the ball.
Game Two will match Class 4A Bryan Station against Class 2A Corbin. Coach Norm Powell's Bryan Station Defenders finished 1-8 last year and dropped their season opener to Madison Central 20-12. They did get good performances from running backs Darrell Brooks and Chris Seals. They also expect a big season from 230 pound RB/NG Markeith Gillis. Coach Steve Jewell's Corbin Redhounds lost a lot of players through graduation and lost their opener to Conner 20-6. RB Jarrod Lawson and WR Isaac Mills had good performances in the opener.
Game One
Lexington Catholic (1-0) vs. Danville (1-0)
Lexington Catholic struggled on offense in the first half and trailed 14-3 at halftime. Lexington Catholic's big play offense finally came alive in the second half on their way to a come-from-behind 32-26 victory over the speedy Danville Admirals. Joe Heink scored the winning TD on an 11 yard run with 3:15 remaining on the clock. The Lexington Catholic defense saved the game with a stop on 4th and one from their 12 yard line with seconds remaining on the clock. Danville held a commanding edge in total offense 455-287 and controlled the ball for 32:56 of the game while Catholic only had possession for 15:04. Catholic lost one fumble which was the only turnover of the game.
Lexington Catholic was led by QB Jacob Doss who completed 13 of 23 passes for 255 yards and one touchdown. Matt Beavin caught three passes for 114 yards and a 66 yard TD reception. John Logan caught six passes for 69 yards and scored on an 87 yard kickoff return. LB Logan Tweardy had a great night on defense as he registered eight unassisted and six assisted tackles. Danville QB Adam Schott completed 12 of 20 passes for 168 yards and a TD pass. Charles Penix rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Kelvin Turner carried the ball 23 times for 90 yards and a score. He also caught three passes for 85 yards and a 44 yard scoring reception.

Game Two
Bryan Station (0-1) vs. Corbin (0-1)
Corbin utilized a strong ground attack led by Jr. running back Jarrod Lawson to defeat Bryan Station 28-14. Lawson carried the ball 32 times for 211 yards and scored on TD runs of 28 and 10 yards. QB Jeremy Brock completed 10 of 14 passes for 89 yards and one touchdown. Corbin outgained Bryan Station 364-239 yards on total offense. Bryan Station got a big game from 6-1 230 pound Sr. running back Markeith Gillis who rushed for 146 yards and scoring jaunts of 60 and 40 yards on 11 carries.
