Madison Central (0-0) vs. Bryan Station (0-0) August 17, 2001

Madison Central coach Paul Rains returns an experienced offensive line and ultra-quick Jr. QB Lamaur Hocker.   Tamian Dean will also be a key returnee at both linebacker and running back.  Norm Powell takes over as head man at Bryan Station and has a lot of key players to replace.  Some of the key losses are RB/DT Eric Shelton, RB/DB Greg Shiddell, WRs/DBs Robert Haskins and James Clayborne, plus standout linemen Del Proctor and Ace Withrow.

The cupboard is not bare at Bryan Station with RB/DE Markeith Gillis, RB/CB Keric Seals, and RB/LB Darrell Brooks returning for the 2001 campaign.  The Station will have some size on the offensive line with 300 pound Ryan Damon and 295 pound Tonio Ramos.

Lamaur Hocker returned the opening kickoff 100 yards to give Madison Central a 6-0 lead, and the Indians utilized a three touchdown performance by Tamian Dean to earn a 33-12 victory over Bryan Station.  Madison Central also got a stellar performance from backup QB Evan King, who replaced Lamaur Hocker after a first quarter injury.  King passed for 95 yards and two touchdowns including an 80 yard TD bomb to Tamian DeanDustin Bullock led the ground attack with 93 yards on 10 carries.

Bryan Station had a hard time getting their offense started tonight.  It's obvious Bryan Station has some talent but their inexperience was too much to overcome tonight.  Markeith Gillis led the Bryan Station ground game with 55 yards on 6 carries.  Darrell Brooks scored the only Defender touchdown on offense on a 7 yard run; the second touchdown came on a 51 yard interception return by Greg Green.

A special thanks to the athletic departments of both Bryan Station and Madison Central for the hospitality extended to me.  Also a lot of appreciation to the WL Stats crew for the statistics they provide during and after the game.
