Louisville Trinity (12-1) vs. Tates Creek (9-4) November 24, 2000

Coach Bob Beatty has made quite a debut at Trinity.  The Shamrocks lost the first game of the season to Highlands and have now rolled to 12 straight wins and  a berth in the Class 4A semifinals.  QB Geoff Riddle has passed for 2561 yards with 24 scoring strikes.  6-0 208 RB Vince Phillips has returned from an injury to tally 700 yards and 16 TDs over the last half of the season.

Tates Creek Coach Mark Willoughby took over the top spot this year and has his team peaking at the right time.  The powerful Commodore ground game has been led by Greg Baltimore with 1500 yards.  Devin Neal and John Clay also add punch to the running game as well as being key contributors on defense

Trinity exploded for four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to subdue Tates Creek by a score of 52-21.  The Commodores had given the favored Trinity Shamrocks all they could handle for almost three quarters and had forced the Shamrocks into a fourth and 8 from the Tates Creek 29 yard line.  QB Geoff Riddle connected on a 17 yard pass to Ramon Nieves to give Trinity a 1st and 10 from the Tates Creek 12.  Trinity scored early in the fourth quarter to take a 31-21 lead and from that moment on the outcome was never in doubt.

Trinity’s balanced offense was led tonight by Vince Phillips who carried the pigskin 27 times for 171 yards and two scores.  Geoff Riddle completed 11 of 18 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.  Greg Baltimore led the Tates Creek ground game with 113 yards on 25 carries. David Hamilton completed 5 passes out of 13 attempts for 93 yards and touchdowns
