Larry is a friend of Ricky Skaggs from their childhood days. Larry is from Blain, KY. I am very proud to call him my friend. He is a great songwritter. He wrote Ricky Skaggs #1 hit, Highway 40 Blues, among many others, including co-writing the song released by Alan Jackson and George Strait did together recently, "MURDER ON MUSIC ROW". Larry Shell co-wrote the song with Cordle. He has had songs he has written recorded by many artist's, including Garth Brooks. I think Larry is destined for the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Blue Highways's debut Rebel record It's a Long, Long Road maintain the No. 1 position on national bluegrass charts for five months early in 1996 didn't hurt either. And this all happened just a little over a year after the band played it's first gig. Band members have three Grammy Awards for work on recent projects. The group walked away with their share of IBMA awards in 1996, including
1996 Album of the Year ("It's a Long, Long Road")
1996 Emerging Artist of the Year
1996 Dobro Player of the Year (Rob Ickes.)




The only nationally televised bluegrass show in America

The Outdoor channel on Saturday 6:30 P.M., Tuesdays at 2:00 A.M, and Thursdays at 12:00 P.M
This group includes three of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, with special guests such as James Monroe, Ralph Stanley and others.
