SCARF
Size: approx. 50"x 6"
MATERIALS: I used Lion Brand Homespun yarn (rococo color #311- be sure to buy from same dye lot) I used 1 skein (6 oz weight and 185 yds in length) for the scarf and 1 skein for the hat. Size K crochet hook. A long tape measure.
Start by making a chain approx. 50" long.
ROW 1: (Sc in back lp of sts throughout project). Sc in second ch from hook, and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc in back lp only, in each sc across. Continue in this manner till you have 17 rows completed. Fasten off.
If you want your scarf longer or wider, then purchase an extra skein of yarn as this will use up the entire skein as instructed. To make it longer, simply begin with a longer ch. To make it wider just add more rows.
HAT
Size: Fits an average adult.
MATERIALS: Same as for the scarf, but also a tapestry needle.
To start, ch 30.
Work same pattern as for scarf, making 25 rows, do not fasten off yet.
Hold together the last row and the first row and sc together working stitches in corresponding back loops to make a tube. Fasten off.
With tapestry needle and a length of same yarn, weave the yarn through one end of the piece; draw string style. Draw together as tight as you can without breaking the yarn. Make a secure knot and trim. Turn hat right side out.
