Question of the Week

Please email me your responses to my question of the week (you can also respond to past questions) and I'll post them on my site. Thanks!

Question Week XIV What do you think about abortion?

Question Week XVIII What are your feelings about the war with Iraq and the state of world affairs in general right now?

Question Week XVII How far would you go for a friend?

Bede said "How far would I go... tough tough question... let's see if this makes sense... close enough so that i can know that they are still there and still safe... far enough so that they do not know i am near them"

Question Week XVI What is the worst feeling in the world? (Hard question, I know)

Bede said: "My worst feelings occur when I lie. I hate to lie, but I find it a necessity... so i hate it even more."

Question Week XV Why do we treat people so poorly? Why do we act with no consideration for others so often?

Mike said:"cus humans are naturally selfish...it is ingrained in us to 'look out for # 1' and we all do, but say we dont....stupid people"
Bede said:"I say we are often inconsiderate of others because we are humans and we make mistakes. I call them mistakes; if you could go back in time, would you not wish to correct the majority of your inconsiderate actions? if you disagree, then i guess i'm just special for thinking so. We get stressed and at times, we have no grip on ourselves. Sometimes, one tries so hard to be considerate that the one actually becomes inconsiderate... one can't please everyone. As for those that are inconsiderate for aesthetics, that's just wrong. I dislike people who bring discomfort to their neighbors in order to look down upon them.... the only reason i can think of for such foul play is foolishness. I won't call them fools... I will say Weaklings or Cowards or Dastards or - if i absolutely detest the person - Bastards. Why do i choose such words? That's too much to explain... so, sorry. Now, basically, I say we are inconsiderate because we can't avoid it, for we are humnans. Also, inconsideracy must exist in order for us to work to rid ourselves of it... if it didn't exist, we lose a part of us that makes us human... freedom of choice."
Courtney said:"because people suck. We all suck. you hear me everybody? you all suck. Except for Kate b/c she rocks my socks."

Question Week XIV If you could know when you were going to die, would you want to know? (thanx stevie!)

Mike said:"yes, so i could go do all the stupid and dangerous things that i've always wanted to do"
Katie said:"I would like to know so I could plan my funeral...apologize for wrong doings..say my goodbyes..and do whatever I wanted to before I die. I already do know when i'm going to die."
Dawn said:"I wouldn't want to know when I was going to die. I would like to know how though so I could try to prevent it. Or atleast prepare myself if it was doing something I love(i.e. Horseback riding. considering that it is 56 times more dangerous than NASCAR racing). Just my outlook.... each to his/her own." Centaur's Note: It's actually 66 times more dangerous... fun stuff!
Courtney said:"Honestly, I don't know... I think I would like to be able to prepair myself for the way I die. But if I knew I would be too afraid to live, always trying to prevent it. I don't think so. I just like the way things are."
Bede said:"No, i would not like to know where, when, nor how i die. I'd like to live a live that's exciting and full of unexpected turns... That's the fun - torment - of life. It gets your blood - tear - running and gives you this excitement - sorrow- which no other aspect of life can provide."

Question Week XIII I once saw this poster with four beer mugs on it. The first mug had the top half full of beer. It was labeled optimist. The second had the bottom half full of beer. It was labeled pessimist. The third had the beer floating above the mug. It was labeled spiritualist. The last mug was already emptied. It was labeled realist. Which are you?

Mike said:"I'm a realistic optimist...i know nothing good is ever actually gonna happen, but i still hope for it"
Katie said:"I'm a realist..that can sometimes seeem like a pessimist. I've been through a lot and I understand a lot of life and the world. So I tend to look at things realistically. It helps me to better prepared for the crap, and not to expect much. I don't get dissapointed too often."
Courtney said:"I don't know. I can be all of them. But i think I'm only an optimist if I'm being sarcastic."
Bede said: "I am a realist... I encompass pessimism and optimism. I am no spiritualist; I'm too smart. How do I encompass pessimism and optimism? Simple. My cup is half empty when it should be half full; it is half full when it should be half empty. So I am a realist who shall remain completely empty for I have not a single wealth to fill the cup with."
Paul said:"realist, with sparkling cider/spakling white grapejuice (not racist, red just tastes bad). however, most people think that realists are pessimists. o well. they need big glasses. like the ones that Velma wore in Scooby Doo. Thatd be hott. and that's a realistic viewpoint. deal with it."
Dawn said: "I'm everything but spiritualist. I'm not really omptimist all the time... I'm more pessimist and realist most of the time. I prefer to see life the way it is rather than looking at it through rose colored glasses."

Question Week XII Describe your perfect moment that you dream about having with a significant other.

Mike said:"Finding each other in a place where no one else is and just staying there together because there is nobody else there"
Katie said:"Hours and hours of hot passionate kinky sex...not really. The perfect moment for me would be just to wake up in the morning looking at them and having this feeling like nothing can harm us and everythings going to be ok, because we're together. But thats kinda gay."
Courtney said:"I don't know, again... I am in a pessimistic mood tonight. I iwould love to just be able to have an hours-long conversation with someone and never have an Awkward silence. silence is okay, but no stiffness...."
Paul said:"my perfect moment, hmmmm. im in a perfectly crowded place with someone i love and all of the sudden, nothing else matters. everyone just leaves, and lets us be alone."
Dawn said:"The most perfect moment I hope to have is riding off into the sunrise after my wedding to go ride in a fox hunt with my new husband, or when my husband gets up to feed the barn full of horses so I can sleep in one morning, or when he'll get up when the baby is crying so I can continue to sleep."
Matt said: "the moment i find someone i can do anything with i mean like we can just chill watchin a movie we can go out to dinner just take a nap with each other on the couch that kinda thing."

Question Week XI (I know it's early, but I'm going out of town and I won't get your responses until it's the right time so it works) Is there such a thing as too many morals. Give examples and explain your reasoning. On another tangent, explain how people can justify in their minds all the bad things they do.

Courtney said: "Damn, right now I don't really know what morals are. people justify the future by the past, the present by the pretty words we hide behind, and the past by it being over and done with and we must've been crazy."
Paul said:"there is no such thing as having oo many morals. The uber-mralisticalicious person may be lonely, but theres nothing wrong with them. Tangent: People justify things to themselves to get through their cognitive dissonance, where they have two conflicting views, s one changes. they can then cpnvince themselves of it as true and good."

Question Week X If you ruled the world, how would you change it and/or make it better?

Mike said:"If I ruled the world...i would make it better by killing myself....i mean does anybody really want me in control?"
Katie said:"If I ruled the world...men would be sent to the moon...except for the hot gay ones...they can just be my slaves...and all crimes would be punished with an appropriate punishment...like a sex offender would find himself missing some things or a thief I might cut off their hands...I think i'd be overthrown or assasinated."
Dawn said: "I'm with Courtney."
Matt said: "eliminate hatred, war, and prejudice and put EVERYONE on equal footing"
Paul said: "when i rule the world, it will be split up into provinces which will be governed by my friends. Italy will become my summer home and a black, female, divorcee, user of birth control, and formerly protestant pope will be installed. I will also se up a giant pit in antarctica where all of the endangered animals will be led to for slaughter, then people wont have to worry about killing them (they'll already be dead)! also, if anyone complains they get put on the endangered aNIMALS LIST. OR IF THEY INSULT MY HAIR. CAPSLOCK is fun. o yeah, ryan has europe and africa, kate has oceana, other positions are open"
Courtney said:"As I have always been so fond of saying, "'if I ruled the world men would be moved underground to be sold as pets and breeding stock'"

Question Week IX Discuss trust and being trustworthy. How do we lose and gain trust?

Mike said:"trust is one of the 2 things you need for a relationship w/ another person. You gain trust by proving yourself over and over again to be trustworthy and you lose trust by doing one thing that proves not to be."
Dawn said: "Trust is in us and all around us. It is not nessarily something that you put into just people. Kate and I trust our lives to the horses we ride everytime we mount up. a Blind person trusts their life to a seeing eye dog to get them accross the street safely. Trust is something that you can only give to those you love. This is why many times we find Love and Trust together. They are interlinked. This is why when trust fails in a relationship, the love falls out with it. It is human nature that makes us want to trust everyone and everything. Many of these trusts are broken and are never mended. The trusts that get broken with people are more complex. When the trust is broken the first time a crack forms, the more the trust is broken the more the crack progresses untill there is nothing left of the relationship but bits and peices that the person is left holding. Trust can be mended, but it's hard and the patching of the cracks can't erase the memories of the pain that a person felt when their trust was broken. Mistaking emotions such as lust for love is something that happens to everyone. Then when the person realizes that it's not love they break the trust and the heart(love) of their significant other. This is why after a bad break up it is hard for the hurt person to move on. They still linger in the past and will never fully recover. I know I've been hurt by many guys in my past, and that I've hurt my fair share of guys too. Some of these relationships I let fall into the ashes and never tried to recover them, others I rolled up my sleeves and got soot on me to try to save what was left of a friendship. I still love everyone of them that fell into the ashes, always will. I love the ones that allowed me to save them more. But the guys friends I have that I haven't dated are the ones I love the most because they haven't hurt me. I still have that brand new trust with them. I hope that is will always be like this."
Paul said: "Trust is undescribable. it is needed, easy to lose, had to get again, there are different levels of it, and if you vilate trust once, your not trustworth FOREVER! there should be a trustworthy club. Thatd be neato. O yeah i forgot, each person trusts dfferently. So trust is just weird. hey! I just described trust. hmm. i gues that mans that my answer contradicts itself. darnit. i guess that just disqualified my entire answer. O well. Sucking up helps gain trust, but so does being independant. im confused. help im in a never ending loop! AHHHHH. I feel like im going down the drain! Weeeeeeeeeeeee!"
Courtney said: "trust is a lovely thing... it is as importaint to relationships as breathing but as hard to earn as a gazillion dollars (mainly b/c nobody can count to a gazillion.) you can be given it once but once you lose it then you have to earn it back.... truth is subjective, sadly. I want absolute truth so bad...."

Question Week VIII What values do you put the highest? What is your moral code?

Mike said:"faith...if you have no faith then you really cant have anything else"
Dawn said: "Truth, Loyalty, Fairness, and Friendship are my main ones. If I can't have the truth out of someone why should I ever trust them? If they aren't loyal how will I believe in them once they break a promise? If they aren't fair about everything in life, then why should I be fair them, is that fair? If they aren't friendly, then why should I waste my breath to say hello to them? Greed is another one of my pet peeves. Greedy people generally hurt others to get what they want and I can't stand people to get hurt for no reason. Lust is sore spot, therefore I don't like it. I've had it and I'm sure everyone has, just someone always gets hurt in the end. My morals are whatever I stand for. I do what I please and when I please, no questions asked."
Matt said: "loyalty and truthfulness. my moral code is do what u feel is right always be truthful to yourself"
Paul said: "I value intelligence most. And the ability to think for yourself. Theyre tied. wait intelligence is ahead by a hair, wait, no, now its thinking for yourself, and theyre at the finish! Who won, i cant tell. Lets look at the photo finish. OOOOOOO! It was the ability to think for yourself by a hair! My moral code... hmm. Dont do stuff that i dont want to do."
Courtney said: "My value..... truth. Always. I can't stand lies and illusion (i know ryan, I know... lies are nessicary) but that is what will always remain highest on my list of values. Innocence. I don't exactly think it's a "value" per ce, but it is sooo importaint... I value strength, holding firm to your beliefs even when people think you're on crack and you're making a huge mistake.... So many things that don't seem to really matter anymore...."

Question Week VII Define future. Does it continually come closer or does it always stay just as far away? What are your plans for it?

Mike said:"The future is yesterday. It's not really important until after it happens, then it is the future in the past."
Dawn said: "The Future is every point in time to 3 seconds ahead of now to 300 years from now. It could be the next few words I type to the next few days I live. I try not to plan too much into the future(except in show/rally season, then it's crazy like all mess). I want to live each day as it comes to me. Carpe Diem!! Vive la vie!!! I do have a few plans for the future though. In the distant future i wnat to have a kid or 3, a nice big barn, live way out in Floyd county(where you have to take a cooler to the grocery store so your food won't spoil on the way home), I want to have a training/breeding program for horses in full swing, and I want to Fox hunt every Saturday and Sunday with Shamrock Hounds Hunt. In the closer future I'd like to get my A in Pony Club(highest Rating/Ranking) and I'd like to qualify for nationals in Combined Training at the Training Level atleast once. In the even closer future, I'm hoping to attend Kennesaw State College next Fall, I hope to qualify for USPC Nationals in Show Jumping, and I'd like to get my C-3. In the future of the next few weeks, I'm taking care of my friends horses, giving them a lesson on the 7th and then taking(horse too) myself up to Rome for a Ratings prep/mounted meetingon the 8th. The Future know as this weekend, I might hang out at Justin's for a while and watch some movies and I might stop in at the Indoor Practice tmw. We'll have to see."
Paul said: "the future is right there. o you missed it. dont wait for it. it never shows up on time. i mean i was at this coffeeshop and there was this girl. she was just sittin there. and so i went up to her and she told me to get away, and she called me a freak. she was waitn for someone. and i asked who that was. and she said the future. shes still waitin there, i think. i dont go there anymore cause it started to smell cause she wont even go home to take a shower. i want to be a rich person or a hermit who lives in colorado. and i plan to b a bachelor or a hermit (hermit is its own class. instead all forms that wanna kow if ur married should have an extra space for "hermit"
Courtney said: "Future is a funny thing. I can't see it until it comes, and then it's the present, is it not? Future is abstract, a concept that allows you to put off the things you can't do today. And then you run out of todays.... future is tomorow. always, always, just out of reach. the future, on another tangent, scares me. I mean I want to know NOW, DANG IT, what I will be doing... but I haven't figured it out yet no matter how hard I think on it... "For I know the plans I have for you, says the lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and a future" ~Iseah (kate help me here. I kno I didn't spell that right) 29:11, I believe... I always forget the exact location... that is my flavorite verse right now."

Question Week VI Why are men and women so utterly different?

Mike said:"...they aren't as different as everybody thinks, they just appear different on the outside, but are often the same on the inside"
Dawn said:"The Reason we are so different are because we are biult different. Women are made for child bearing and therefore are the stronger of the species(Guys, Child birth is like taking your bottom lip and streching it over your head). Men are made for providing for the women in whatever way they can."
Matt said: "b/c man are from mars and women are from venus thats why"
Ashley said: "women are just plain cooler than men plus we get taller first"
Paul said: "because itd be weird if they were the same. And their functons in society used to be different."

Question Week V (ok, yall CAN respond occasionally) What is your theme song? Why?

Mike said:""This will be laughing week" by Ultimate Fakebook...just cus"
Dawn said:"I've got several...."Gonna Getcha" by Shania Twain, "I Won't.. But." by SheDaisy, "Please Remember (me)" & "But I Do Love You" by LeeAnn Rimes, "Lady Marmalade" by Christina Aguilera, Lil'Kim, & P!"
Matt said: "break stuff by limp bizkit ud know if uve ever heard it"
Paul said: "my theme song is "My Stupid Mouth" by John Mayer because it just seems to happen alot. and other people just dont want to deal with what i say."
Courtney said: "I think my theme right now is PUSH by matchbox 20. I dunno, just feeling a little desolate lately, I suppose. so sue me."

Question Week IV (I was late cuz no one responded to the last one... yall need to start talking to me more. Geez)What is the point of all this silliness of money, work, school, etc? It just drives us crazy. And why can people make us do things?

Paul said: "the point of material things is so everyone can feel reassured that they've achieved something in their meaningless life. People make people do things because they are too cowardly to do anything themselves."
Courtney said: "People make us do things because we are too weak or lazy to do for ourselves. Either we have to be in control, or we let someone else do it for us. Money is a way for humans to control what they can't as in work and school. this was designed to give other people power over us."

Question Week III (I know it's a little late): Why do we have moods and mood swings? What are moods?

Paul said: "moods are dangerous feelings tat should be regulated, like piousness."
Courtney said: "Moods are what make us "us". Wouldn't life be boring if we all reacted in the same way??"

Question Week II: Why do we hurt ourselves, both physically and emotionally? ok.. yall get 2 this week cuz I'm feelin all extra thoughtful.. why do we lie and cheat?

Dawn said: "The reason we hurt ourselves both physically and emotionally is because we love and want to be loved. We spend our entire adolesence looking for love and don't find it until we find the right person. Until that person appears we falling love and they find out what they had was just lust or strong friendship. Lust can be dangerous if it goes to far. Innocences can be lost in the process. Lives can even be ruined by having a baby for what was thought to be love, but really it was lust. We hurt ourselves physically because we think there is no other way out. When life gets really rough and you feel cornered some people try to get out of getting through life by hurting themselves enough to die. Many only just hurt themselves to tell others that they need help. Generally eyes get opened and the person in trouble finds the way out and makes it to the light at the end of the tunnel. Physical abuse is where emotions or addictions can't be tamed. This kind of physical pain can be very dangerous. It can end in death, if let go too far. Physical, or verbal, abuse is also the lack of respect for another person. Sometimes we hurt each other in trying to gain respect for ourselves. Honestly if someone has to put another person down just to make themselves feel better looses respect from me. Hurting others just for a few sh!ts and giggles is lower than being the bacteria that breaks down the lowest pond scum. The reason we lie and cheat in life is to try to get ahead of another person. As long as we're getting what we want/need it's ok to Lie and Cheat. I like the quote from Gone With The Wind: "If I have to Lie, Cheat, or Steal, I will never go hungry again, with God as my witness I shall never go hungry again."~Scarlette O'Hara I like that because she was determined to provide for her family no matter what it takes. I have this kind of perspective. I will do whatever nessecary to provide for myself and my family."
Mike said: "I believe we hurt ourselves physically because we are hurt emotionally. And we often hurt ourselves emotionally because we often strive for, and expect from ourselves, a perfection that cannot be reached. I think we lie and cheat because of greed. A person lies to get something he/she wants. Cheating is the same as lying, you are using someone else's work for your own, or hindering the abilities of someone else to help yourself."
Katie said: "fear..scared of feeling anything other than the pain you recieve when you hurt yourself... to get away and hide from your real pain... plus by that point you usually aren't in your right mind..."
Courtney said: "For control. When nothing else can be controlled when all you have left to you is violence, you use your own pain to put bounds on your emotions. We lie because truth scares us, we cheat because we're greedy."

Question Week I: What is love? How do you define love?

Dawn said: "Love... Love is undefinable(even Mr. Webster couldn't define it in just a few sentences, there's about 10+ subdefinitions). It is human nature to want to love. Love is commonly mistaken for lust or passion. These are the physical form of fleeting love. They aren't forever as true love is. Ture love is undenyable. When you truely love somone they know it and return it. Everyone else around them knows they are in love. Love just radiates from their souls to others. Compassion to be undying love, which is essential to daily life. Your parents and close relatives give you undying love everyday they are here. My grandmother gave me true undying love. She still loves me from heaven. I know she is heaven because she was such a good person by nature. She never did anything hateful or malicous. I can feel her presence whenever I am sad. Just knowing she is around makes me happy. Love is something you can feel even when the person is not around or is gone. You can see their smile everywhere you look and in your dreams. Love is where there is a drive in you to do someone for or to someone else. This can be a kind gesture or a mean gesture. Hate is the love of hurting someone. This is why Love and Hate are two of the most powerful words in the english language. I cannot truely hate someone. That is like damning someone's soul to the 8th ring of hell(in ref. to Dante's Inferno). Which is not for me or any earthly bound soul to decide for another. I do not hate anyone, even my ex-boyfriends that hurt me. I still love them like I love all my guy and my girl friends. My guys are there for me to pick me up when I'm gone through rough time, whether family or guy related. They are always there for me, and I love them all. Truely."
Matt said: "when u would give anything even your life for someone and they would do the same for u"
Johanathan said: "love is the desire to please someone at your own expense"
Katie said: "getting up in the morning and wanting to live to see that day so you can see a person you love is what love means to me."
Paul said: "love is a useless thing that sounds pretty, it is the colored leaflets to the thorns of life, it serves no purpose."
Courtney said: "Love is not being able to live without someone love is innocence, love is jaded. Love is trust love is sacrifice love is compassion love is a gift love is rare."
