MEMORANDUM FOR: All Soldiers of HHC, 149TH BDE

SUBJECT: Attendance Policy

1. References:

a. AR 135-91 Service Obligations, Methods of fulfillment, participation Requirements, and Enforcement Procedures

b. Memorandum KG-149-H, 2 Nov 01, subject: IDT and Annual Training Schedule for Training Year 2002.

2. I want HHC 149th Armor Brigade to set the standard of excellence within the Brigade. This starts with drill attendance. the following describes my policy on drill attendance in accordance with AR 135-91 and which supports the Brigade Commander's AWOL policy.

3. Under AR 135-91, paragraph 3-1, you are required to attend all scheduled Inactive duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training periods unless excused by the unit commander. In addition, you are required to participate in a satisfactory manner with requard to proper military appearance and performance of assigned duties.

4. Everyone was provided two copies of the referenced memorandum listing the IDT and Annual Training dates. One copy to keep at home and the other for your employer, to avoid/minimize work potential conflicts. Absence from training assemblies may be excused for reasons of sickness, injury, emergency, or circumstances beyond your control and must be coordinated through myself. You are authorized 4 excused absences for the year.

5. If you have family responsibilities that are causing hardship or if your civilian job is of critical importance to the national or community health, safety or interestyou should contact me so that I can advise and assist you in the proper procedures to resolve these problems

6. As outlined in AR 135-91, paragraph 4-12, if you accumulate nine (9) unexcused absences within a one-year period, you can be declared an unsatisfactory participant. If this action is taken, you may be transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) for the balance of your oblication.

7. I hope as a result of this memorandum you will take the necessary steps to help improve the company's drill attendance record and continue to build a company we can be proud of.
