The Chronicles of Devil Boy and Angelica

Good vs. Evil?

by Angel of Fantasy

I glanced furtively over my shoulder at the little devil. I had known he was there, but I didn't think he'd have the guts to interfere. I had only been on earth for a short while. I'm sure you have seen the movie "City Of Angels" with the delectable Nicholas Cage? Well, in that movie he "fell" to earth for love. That is similar to the decision I made, only I descended for the planet's hedonistic pleasures.

I don't remember exactly how I earned my wings, but I am constantly afraid that they will be taken away from me, for what I do is not exactly the holiest of holies. I had found a temporary home inside the body of a tempting red head, for the time being casting off my own solid form in an attempt to learn more about the pleasures of the flesh. I selected her because she was so much like me, the hue of her hair, the shape of her body, the smoldering colour of her eyes so very much like my own.

I left the young female's body before she stepped back onto the elevator, knowing she would attribute the queasy light headed feeling to the alcohol she had consumed. Glancing back at the amorous young human couple as the elevator doors slid closed I smiled as they locked into another passionate embrace. I so enjoyed their passion, and oh what an adventure we had had together. Sex on the roof of a 25-story building was my greatest pleasure yet. I sighed contentedly staring a the closed hydraulic doors then resolutely squared my shoulders and headed back for the door that led to the roof.

I assumed my supernatural transparent form, knowing that I could only be detected by the very young, the devoutly religious or the dying...and other supernatural beings. I took the stairs and groaned a bit as I passed through the particles of the metal door, knowing that I might never get used to that feeling. As I stepped out onto the roof, the little demon was there, about six feet away from me. His back was to me and he appeared lost in thought, as his maniacal tail was stroking the pavement and sending a small shower of sparks cascading across the rooftop.

I strode towards him cautiously, determined not to let him see my fear. I didn't know if the little demon was here to draw me to purgatory in punishment for my crimes. I watched him silently, waiting for him to turn and notice me.

He must have felt my presence, for he turned quickly on his cloven heel, mis-stepping and nearly falling as he took in my softly glowing nakedness. We celestial beings do not suffer the shameful curse of Adam and Eve, therefore we have no need of clothing. I folded my arms across my chest and waited for him to gain his composure. I allowed my wings to spread into a defensive stance, assuming my solid mortal form. I shivered a bit as the sensitive lower feathers of my massive wings caught the breeze and began to flutter. I felt my body tingle as it adjusted to the unnatural human form, but I watched the little runt of a devil carefully, not knowing if he were here to return me to my maker or to drag me to purgatory. Either way, he would have a massive battle on his hands. I did not work so hard to get this far only to be returned like a chastised child.

I thought I saw a glimmer of fear in the beastie's eyes, but it quickly vanished. He began to pace the roof, eyeing me every few seconds, as if he were searching for the correct words. Finally he stopped in front of me, well out of my wings reach, and cleared his throat. "Why are you here, angel?" he rasped., squinting his eyes accusingly. "I am just doing my job, who are you to interfere?"

Momentarily struck speechless, I surveyed my options. The little beastie thought I was here to curb his actions, did he? Maybe I could use this to my advantage, I thought to myself. I smiled at him and replied "I am just here to evaluate your progress, little insignificant demon that you are."

He grunted in distaste at my reference to his diminutive stature and frowned, stroking the hairs on his chin in thought. He considered my reply for a long while then smiled. "I think you may be able to help me, your wingedness. I have been having a bit of trouble getting certain people to accept my suggestions. Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone?"
