Chapter 59
It was the night the boys got back from the tour and Kristen took Mariah and her niece Angel to the airport to pick up AJ. Kristin, Jasmine, and Angela also went to see their guys but Toni was staying at Jane's house until the wedding the next day. "Hey baby," AJ said going up to Kristen and kissing her when he exited the gate. "Damn, Mariah got big during the last three months," AJ said taking her from Kristen. "What's your niece doing here?"
"Toni wants her to be the flower girl for the wedding."
"I get to wear a pretty green dress and high heals," Angel said with a huge smile on her face.
"What has Toni been smoking? She's putting a four year old in high heals? She's going to sprain her ankle and you're sister will never let her visit us again," AJ said.
"I'm six!" Angel yelled at him with her hands on her hips. "Don't you ever pay attention to anything?"
"Wow, she's gotten a little attitude since I last saw her."
"You have no idea how much of an attitude. She's a little smart ass," Kristen said and Angel stood there glaring at her. "And she's wearing platforms not high heals. There's a huge difference."
"It's all the same. Mariah better not get an attitude when she gets older."
"She has you two as parents, of course she will," Nick said interrupting them. "Where is my wife to be?"
"She's at your mom's house. You aren't allowed to see her until tomorrow and you are staying in a hotel tonight because Toni doesn't want you screwing the decorations up at your house so you're not allowed to go there until tomorrow," Kristen explained to him.
"Why a hotel? Why not your house or one of the other guys?"
"Because Angie is staying with Brian tonight, Kristin is with Kevin and Jasmine is with Howie. None of them have seen each other in three months so they want some alone time and I already have two kids in my house I don't need a third."
"That was really sweet of you to say Kristen," Nick said sarcastically. "So do you plan on giving me a ride to a hotel?"
"I'll think about it," Kristen said as they walked off towards baggage claim. They took Nick to a hotel (against his will) then went to their house and put Mariah and Angel to bed since it was pretty late. When Kristen and AJ got to their bedroom AJ went straight into the bathroom and was in there for almost an hour. "What are you doing in there?" Kristen hollered through the door.
"Hold on a sec I'm almost done," AJ said then came out of the bathroom a few minutes later.
"Oh my God," Kristen said as she looked at AJ's green hair. "What the hell did you do?"
"It's to go with the suit I'm wearing tomorrow," he said going to his bag and pulling it out and showing Kristen.
"Nick picked that out for the guys! Toni leaves him with one job and that's what he gets!"
"No, he picked out black suits with green vests. I thought I would surprise him and liven things up a little bit. And since you are the maid of honor and we get to walk together we have to match so I bought you this," AJ said pulling out the shimmering green dress that matched his suit.
"Toni is going to have a fit if she see's me in that."
"Well change into this right before we start walking and avoid Toni. Now you have to die your hair green."
"Are you crazy or just plain stupid?"
"Crazy why?"
"My hair is blonde and you want me to die it green."
"So just put streaks in it that will look cute."
"That will look like shit AJ."
"Oh well," AJ said pulling Kristen into the bathroom. "The stuff wears out in a few weeks."
"A few weeks? You can get away with having green hair for a few weeks but I sure as hell can't."
"Well you're married to me so I say you can," AJ said as Kristen sat down backwards on the toilet and AJ began streaking her hair.
"This looks like shit," Kristen said looking in the mirror when he was done. "Green and blonde don't mix very well."
"I'm sure you can do something with it to make it look good, let's go to bed we gotta get up early." The next morning AJ woke up about two hours before the alarm clock would go off and he quietly got out of bed, got dressed, and went into Mariah's room and picked her up out of her crib and slowly woke her up. He got the green hair die out of his and Kristen's bathroom and took it into the guest bathroom with Mariah and began dying her dark hair green.
"What are you doing?" Angel asked going into the bathroom scaring AJ.
"Oh nothing just getting your cousin ready for the wedding."
"Kristen's not going to like the baby's hair being green."
"That is why we are going to keep this a little secret so don't tell her."
"She's not stupid, she's gonna notice," Angel said with a little attitude.
"Not for a while. Go get dressed and I'll take you out to breakfast," AJ said and Angel ran to the room she was staying in and got changed. AJ took Angel and Mariah and went out to breakfast then went and bought Mariah a green dress that had sequence so it would go with what him and Kristen were wearing for the wedding. He then put his hat on Mariah's head to cover up her hair as he took her to his mom's house.
"What are you doing here this early?" Denise asked answering the door letting them in.
"I need you to get Mariah ready in her dress and bring her to the wedding with you. Me and Kristen have to get there early."
"That's fine," Denise said taking her granddaughter. "You want me to take her too?" she asked pointing to Angel.
"No, she's the flower girl she has to be there early too. I'll see you there, bye Mom," AJ said giving his mom a kiss on the cheek then turning to walk out the door with Angel.
"AJ wait you forgot your...." Denise said taking AJ's hat off Mariah's head to give to him when she stopped in the middle of her sentence. "I really do accept the fact that you died your hair green to get all festive for the wedding but what the hell is your problem dying a 5 month old's hair? Did Kristen see this because I know she wouldn't have let you do it."
"I put green streaks in Kristen's hair last night so I figured we should look like one small family so I got up early and did Mariah's hair," AJ said with a smile on his face. "I think she looks cute."
"Alexander James! What exactly is wrong with you? Does she have a hidden tattoo somewhere too?" Denise yelled at her son.
"Um....no."
"You would think that you would only do experiments with your own head and not your daughter's!"
"I'm sorry it will wash out."
"I'm sure Kristen isn't going to look at it that way when she sees this now get out of here," Denise said shoving AJ out the door.
"Ha ha, you got in trouble," Angel said with a smile as they got in AJ's car. AJ just rolled his eyes at her as he drove back home. When they got back Kristen had all their stuff together to bring to Nick's house to get ready.
"What do you think of my hair?" Kristen asked turning around so AJ could see the back. She straightened her hair then curled it into big curls and took the green streaks and covered them with hair glitter making her hair shimmer.
"Very beautiful," AJ said giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"Where's Mariah at?"
"Oh I took her to my mom's house, now let's go. We have to get to Nick's." When they got there Toni ran up to Kristen and wrapped her arms around her and started squeezing her half to death.
"Toni let up you're hurting me," Kristen managed to say.
"Oh sorry I'm just a little excited. I'm finally going to marry Nickolas Gene Carter!" she screamed.
"I know it's scary."
"No it's not! Now come on we have to get dressed and what the hell did you do to your guys' hair!" she yelled looking at Kristen and AJ. "Nevermind, this is you two we are talking about just come upstairs and get ready. Nick is going to be here any minute and he can't see me," she said picking up Angel than grabbing Kristen by the hand and pulling her up the stairs with her. Kristen changed into the bride's maid dress that she was supposed to be wearing that was a long, silk, light green dress with an open back that had three little roses along the back. Toni gave her a bouquet of long stem white tulips that she would be carrying. The bride's maids were Nick's sisters, BJ, Leslie, and Angel, and Angela. They were all wearing long, silk, mint green dresses that had thin straps and an open back. They were to be carrying bouquets of long stem white tulips that had green tips. Angel, the flower girl, was wearing the same thing that the bride's maids were to be wearing except the straps on her dress went to right above her shoulder and there was more of a back to it. She was going to be carrying a white basket that contained about a hundred white tulip petals. The groomsmen were Howie, Brian, Kevin, and Nick's brother, Aaron, with AJ being the best man. They were all to be wearing the same suits that they had picked up in Europe. Kevin was walking with BJ, Howie with Leslie, Brian with Angela and Angel and Aaron together. Since there was no ring bearer Kristen and AJ were holding onto the wedding rings. Kristen would give Toni Nick's ring while AJ would give Nick Toni's ring. Toni was getting her hair done so that it was straight and she had half of it pulled up into a pony tail then the hair in the pony tail was curled into tight curls and were pinned in a circle around the rubber band for the pony tail. Then a silver tiara was placed on her head. A thin veil was hooked to the tiara and fell to the floor. Her wedding dress from the waist down was big and poofy while from the waist to the top of her chest was tight. Along the top of the dress that was right above her chest there were big white roses going all the way across. The sleeves were down below her shoulders and were made of the same roses on the front then the same roses were on the back of the dress so it looked like it just wrapped around her. Everyone was about ready to get things going when AJ came into the room the girls were in with his shimmering suit on. Toni saw him and her mouth about dropped to the floor.
"You look absolutely beautiful," AJ said giving Toni a hug. "Nick is going to freak when he sees you."
"Thank you. Now what the hell are you wearing? That does not look like the suit I've seen the other guys in."
"Oh well since I'm best man Nick let me get something different," he lied. "I mean if the maid of honor can have a different dress the best man should have a different suit."
"First you come here with green hair and then you put on that suit? It clashes with everything and you have to walk with Kristen and that will look really bad!"
"Trust me it will look great," AJ said with a smile on his face. "Now I need to steal Kristen since this show gets started in like five minutes and we are the first ones to go out. Good luck," he said giving her a kiss on the cheek then grabbing Kristen by the hand and pulling her out of the room. "You need to change into the other dress."
"This is stupid you know that?"
"Yes I know that but we have to be dressed alike so we can look cute. I mean I even went out this morning and bought Mariah a dress that would look good with our outfits. That way we could be one small matching family," he said with a stupid grin on his face. "Now hurry up and get changed," he said shoving Kristen into the bathroom with the dress.
"Kristen here you forgot your bouquet," Toni said giving it to Kristen when she came out of the bathroom. "Okay I know I already asked AJ this question and now I'm asking you. Now what the hell are you wearing?"
"Don't we look good together?" AJ asked wrapping his arm around Kristen's waist and pulling her close to him.
"No! That's not the dress you're supposed to be wearing! Go change! You two are clashing with everyone else!"
"But at least we look cute," AJ said.
"Kristen please please go change back into the other dress. Sure this one matches your green hair beautifully," Toni said sarcastically. "But the other dress is nicer."
"Everyone is ready to go you ready to do this?" Toni's daddy asked coming up to her.
"Uh! See you don't have time to change so I'll deal with you two later. You two have to start heading down," Toni said when the music started playing.
"Alright, I love you Toni," Kristen said giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Don't cry either okay?"
"I'm not you, you know," Toni said as she began to get nervous.
"You're my twin of course you are."
"I swear I will never understand this twin shit but I'm sure the people outside are trying to figure out how long the music is going to be playing before everyone starts coming out," AJ said as everyone was gathered around the top of the stairs waiting to go.
"Okay okay I'm coming," Kristen said hooking arms with AJ as they started walking down the stairs.
"You two have the wedding rings right?" Kevin hollered at them and they stopped and looked at each other then turned around and went back up the stairs.
"Toni do you remember where I put the rings?" Kristen asked going into the room they got ready in and began looking around.
"Oh my God you have got to be kidding me. This wedding is off to a real start," she said sarcastically while she helped Kristen and AJ look for the wedding rings. Meanwhile Nick was standing in front of a large fountain with the Pasteur and hundreds of guests as he began getting really nervous since no one was coming out of the glass doors. He looked at his mom who was sitting in the front and she got up to talk to him.
"You don't think she backed out do you?" Nick asked about ready to cry by just the thought of it.
"No, I'm sure she didn't. I'll go see what's wrong," Jane said as she ran into the house followed by Toni's mom as the music outside stopped playing and all the guests started whispering to each other. "What's wrong?" Jane asked going into the room seeing Toni flip out.
"They are what's wrong!" Toni yelled pointing to Kristen and AJ.
"Very nice outfits," Jane said sarcastically.
"Mommy they lost our wedding rings!" Toni yelled running to her mom about ready to burst out in tears.
"Okay this is like so not our fault!" Kristen yelled defending her and AJ.
"I didn't do this at your wedding you know!" Toni yelled.
"You didn't have to! Cassie was already trying to ruin it!"
"So you admit you're trying to ruin my wedding!"
"I didn't admit anything! Stop assuming crazy stuff like that!"
"Okay now is not really a good time for you two to start fighting," Toni's mom said. "We'll just get everyone in here and start looking for the rings. Kristen what did you last do with them?"
"I think I gave them both to AJ while I helped Toni get dressed."
"See that was your first mistake!" Toni yelled at Kristen.
"Hey I am a very responsible guy here!" AJ yelled defending himself.
"Then what the hell did you do with them!" Toni yelled as AJ stood there and thought for a second then ran out of the room and outside. When Nick saw AJ run out of the house he began really getting freaked out because he thought Toni was getting cold feet.
"What are you doing?" Denise asked AJ as he went up to her, grabbed her purse, and started digging through it.
"I put the wedding rings in your purse so I wouldn't lose them and I forgot where I put them," he said when he found the rings and got up to run back into the house when Nick grabbed his arm.
"What the hell is going on?" he asked. "Is Toni okay in there?"
"She's yelling at Kristen so I would say she's perfectly fine. I just misplaced the wedding rings. See you in a minute Nicky boy," AJ said running back into the house and up the stairs. "Here, I found them," AJ said handing Nick's wedding ring to Kristen as he took Toni's and put it on his pinkie finger.
"Where the hell did you put them!" Toni yelled at him.
"Okay you could lower your voice a little you know. I put them in my mom's purse so I wouldn't lose them."
"Which you did!"
"Okay my baby boy is outside about to lose his mind because he doesn't know what is going on so we need to get on with this," Jane said. "So this time when the music starts playing you two start coming out," she said to Kristen and AJ as the two mommy's went back outside and told the lady at the piano to start playing the music again. Kristen grabbed her bouquet and hooked arms with AJ as they walked down the stairs, out the glass doors, and began walking across the yard towards the fountain. Kristen looked over at Denise to see Mariah (with green hair) sitting on her lap and she dug her nails into AJ's arm as hard as she could through his coat.
"My baby's hair is green," Kristen said with a smile on her face and gritted teeth trying to make her mouth not move as she talked. AJ didn't say anything to her they just separated and went to their own sides by the fountain. Next came out Brian and Angela then Nick's sisters with his best friends and his little brother. He stood there with a smile on his face as he looked at how beautiful is sisters looked and how grown up Angel and Aaron looked. Angel then came out with her little basket and began throwing tulip petals on the long white sheet that led from the house to the fountain. Nick could feel his heart skip a few beats when the glass doors leading into the house we're closed and he knew he would see Toni in a matter of seconds. Toni walked down the stairs with her father and stopped at the glass doors with three guys in suits standing there with six cages of white butterflies around them.
"Remember I want you guys to open three of the cages when I walk out these doors then the other three when me and my wonderful, handsome, drop-dead gorgeous, absolutely incredible...."
"Toni, I think they get the picture," Toni's dad said interrupting her. "Just let the other butterflies go when bride and groom kiss," he finished explaining. The music changed to the 'Here Comes the Bride' melody thing and the glass doors opened and Toni walked out nervously with her father. She jumped a little when she felt hundreds of butterflies fly around her. Toni wanted to die when she saw Nick standing by the fountain looking as gorgeous as ever in the black tux with his hair spiked up and his silver framed glasses on. They reached the fountain and Toni's dad gave her to Nick and Nick pulled the veil back over her head to see a huge smile.
"You look beautiful baby," he said as he saw tears well up in her eyes.
"I've missed you so much these past few months," Toni said as they wrapped their arms around each other and began kissing.
"Hello!" Kristen yelled. "You complained about me and AJ kissing forever at my wedding but at least we waited until after we said I Do!"
"Sorry," Toni said with a laugh as they separated and they began the wedding. When the two of them were to put the rings on each other's fingers Toni turned to Kristen to get the ring from her and saw her struggling. "What are you doing?" Toni whispered.
"The ring is stuck."
"His fingers are like twice the size of yours."
"I know so I put the ring on my thumb so it wouldn't fall off and now I can't get it off." Toni rolled her eyes then handed Angela her bouquet of flowers to hold for her and grabbed Kristen's hand and began pulling on the ring as hard as she could. "You're hurting me!" Kristen said in a loud whisper.
"I'm about to kick your ass. First you wear the wrong dress, then you lose the rings then..."
"AJ lost the rings."
"Whatever, then you get the ring stuck on your finger," Toni said then spit on Kristen's thumb so the ring would slid off easier.
"Sick! Nick may want your slobber on him but I sure as hell don't."
"Shut up," Toni said as she slid the ring off Kristen's thumb then wiped the spit off the ring onto Kristen's dress then went back to Nick who was laughing. They finished their vows and waited for the five words they were so eager to get to.
"You may kiss the bride." Nick then grabbed Toni and pulled her as close to him as possible as they began kissing and felt hundreds of butterflies fly around them.
"As if he didn't kiss her already," Kristen said sarcastically and Angela elbowed her as if to tell her to be quiet. When the separated they began walking back down the aisle followed by everyone else. As soon as Nick and Toni got into the house he unhooked arms with her then grabbed her hand and ran up the stairs with her. "Where are you going?" Kristen asked them.
"To celebrate!" Nick yelled back down the stairs then Kristen heard a door slam shut then heard Toni laughing.
"You have got to be kidding me," Kristen said standing there in disbelievement. "You would think they could wait until their honeymoon. I mean you were able to wait," Kristen said turning to face AJ.
"It wasn't that easy," he whispered in her ear when Denise came up to them with Mariah and Kristen shoved AJ away from her.
"Why the hell did you dye my baby's hair green? I liked her dark hair and you had to go and ruin it!" Kristen yelled lecturing AJ as she took Mariah from Denise. "Do you know what kind of parents people probably think we are!"
"Since when do you care what people think? I thought you liked to be different like me?"
"That doesn't include having to dye a five month old's hair!"
"Are you trying to keep the green hair in the family or something?" Howie asked coming up to them with Jasmine at his side.
"Jasmine say you and Howie got married and had kids or something," Kristen began. "Would you ever let him dye your kid's hair and if he did it behind your back would you be all okay with it?"
"No, I'd probably kick him out of the house or something," Jasmine said smiling at AJ.
"Thank you very much Jas," AJ said. "You're really helping the situation."
"I wouldn't even be stupid enough to dye a baby's hair," Howie said as he spotted Mandy and Dallas coming towards them. "What is he doing here?" Kristen looked to see where Howie was looking and spotted Dallas.
"Toni said she could bring him. With Nick by her side I don't think she cares if Dallas is around cause she knows Nick will kick his ass."
"I don't care. I don't like seeing Mandy with him."
"Despite what you may think, he actually treats her really good. I think you should give them two a chance," Kristen said as Mandy and Dallas joined them.
"Where's Toni and Nick at? I wanted to say congratulations to the two of them," Mandy said.
"Oh well they are a little impatient and are upstairs, as Nick would put it, celebrating," Kristen said.
"And Toni thinks that we will have a million kids," AJ said sarcastically.
"Jas will you take Mariah while I steal your boyfriend for a dance?" Kristen asked as she heard music begin playing outside.
"Sure," Jasmine said taking Mariah.
"Don't you want to dance with me?" AJ asked acting insulted as Kristen began walking away with Howie. Kristen just turned around and shook her head no. "Then why would you give our daughter to someone else. Why not me?"
"Because the last time you had her you died her hair green," Kristen said walking outside to join the rest of the party.
