Chapter 56When Toni got back to Nick’s she went upstairs and found that he was still fast asleep in bed even though it was one in the afternoon. She rolled her eyes then got on the bed and sat down straddling Nick’s hips then crossed her arms on his bare chest and laid her chin down and looked up at his face. "You are aware you’re squashing me aren’t you?" Nick asked with his eyes closed.
"Uh!" Toni yelled getting up off him. She went to get off the bed but Nick wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her back down so she was laying next to him and gave her a kiss. "You have bad ass morning breath, or rather afternoon breath. When do you plan on getting out of bed?"
"I’m just catching up on sleep I lost while we were touring. Where did you go? I woke up about an hour ago and didn’t see you so I went back to bed."
"I went to see the baby and talk to Kristen for a little while."
"About what?" Nick asked curiously.
"Nothing much. We just sat there looking at pictures of all of us and hers and AJ’s wedding," Toni lied. "Their wedding looked perfect like it was right off TV did you know that?"
"No, I didn’t pay too much attention to it."
"Oh that’s nice to know," Toni said sarcastically. "If you were to get married any time soon what would your wedding be like?"
"Hell I ain’t worrying about it now. I don’t plan on getting married any time soon."
"Why not?" Toni asked hiding that she was upset with his answer.
"Because once you’re married you’re all tied down and I don’t want that."
"You don’t feel like I’m tying you down do you?"
"No, that’s what I love about you," Nick said wrapping his arms around her and pulling her closer to him. "You don’t try to control me, you let me do as I please. I know that you trust me just as much as I trust you."
"So…since you’re talking sweet to me again does that mean you’re not mad about your car anymore?"
"Oh hell yeah I’m definitely still mad about the car."
"You know it’s your fault I took the car don’t you?" Toni asked sitting up on the bed and looking down on him.
"How the hell do you figure that one?" he asked also sitting up.
"Because you won’t let me drive it. Then before you leave to go on tour you specifically tell me that I can’t drive it which makes it all the more tempting."
"Toni, stop lying to yourself. You and I both know that even if I didn’t tell you not to drive my prowler you still would."
"So sue me. I was just trying to make myself look good."
"You always look good," Nick said giving her a kiss on the cheek. "I’m going to go take a shower care to join me?" Nick asked getting up to go into the bathroom.
"Not really. I don’t like getting ready twice in one day."
"Oh…well too bad," Nick said running over to Toni and picking her up over his shoulder and carrying her into the bathroom as she yelled at him and protested. He threw her in the shower then turned the water on getting her soaked. Toni turned the water off and got out of the shower and hit Nick in the arm as he laughed. "Ouch, that hurt," he said rubbing his arm where she slapped him.
"Good because I’m soaked and have to get ready again. So I hope you’re happy."
"Very. Now you might as well take another shower since you have to get ready again anyways."
"Fine," Toni said grabbing a towel. "I’ll go take one in the other bathroom." She went to leave but Nick grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back into the bathroom and shut the door.
"I just got back from touring yesterday and haven’t seen you or spoken to you in what seems like forever and you’re not going to take a shower with me?" Nick asked acting like he was insulted.
"It’s your own fault that you didn’t speak to me."
"Well then, I’ll have to make it up to you. Hurry up and join me," Nick said taking his boxers off and getting in the shower. Toni stood there for about a minute just staring at him through the clear shower doors before getting undressed and joining him. "Now this is more like it," Nick said wrapping his arms around Toni and pulling her close to him. Toni just wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned her head against his wet chest.
"I’m not in the mood to do anything just for the record," she told him.
"This is definitely a first for you."
"I like doing other things than just having sex with you for your information," Toni said getting all defensive about his comment.
"I was kidding Toni, don’t freak out on me about it. Just out of curiosity though, what other things do you like to do?"
"I like just spending time alone with you. You should see baby Mariah," Toni said changing the subject. "She’s gotten big since you saw her a month ago. Do you ever plan on having any kids?"
"What is all this talk about marriage and kids for?"
"Nothing I was just curious," Toni said getting out of the shower.
"You’re never just curious about something without there being a point behind it all," Nick said also getting out. "So what's the point? You don't want kids do you?"
"Now? Oh hell no. Maybe later, what about you?"
"Not for a long while," Nick said wrapping his arms around Toni and kissing her.
