Chapter 7~ The Gift

"Kennedy, Brian is going to be so happy," Marissa said, hugging me. "I know! I can't wait until they get back this afternoon," I said, looking through the rack of baby clothes. Brian and the guys were coming back today, and I had decided to buy a baby outfit, wrap it, and give it to him. My mom did that when she told my dad they were going to have me, so I was going to use the same way to tell Brian. "Ken, I love this!" Marissa said, holding up a little one piece outfit that was yellow with baby blue stripes and a Tommy Hilfiger emblem on a pocket on the right sleeve. "Aww! That is too adorable!" I exclaimed. I walked over to where she was and looked at it. I noticed a pair of little socks that matched. I picked those up. "I think I'll get this," I said, taking the outfit from her. We smiled at each other and made our way to pay. _____________________________________________________________________________ "Yes, hello. I am Kennedy Littrell," I said, holding up my pass. Marissa and I had decided to meet the guys at the airport, and he had to go through so many security guards and metal detectors to get to their private gate. The guard nodded and let us pass. "Did you bring it?" Marissa asked once we had made it into the gate. "No, I think I'll give it to him in the car," I answered. "They're here!" I whispered. "Excuse me, are you ladies cleared?" I heard a man ask. Marissa and I turned around and noticed Bill, one of Nick's body guards. "Oh! Mrs. Littrell, Marissa, I'm sorry," he said. "It's okay, Bill. The guys just pulled up," Marissa answered. Just then, AJ's girlfriend, Monica, and Kevin's girlfriend, Leslie, walked into the gate. "Hey guys!" I said. Then I pointed out the window, "the guys just got here." Just then, someone opened the door from the ramp, and we could hear people walking towards the door. First a few bodyguards stepped out, then Donna and Johnny Wright, then Howie, then another bodyguard, then Kevin, then ANOTHER bodyguard, then a few musicians, then AJ, then some more musicians, and finally, Nick and Brian walked out together. They didn't expect us to be there, so they didn't notice us at first. I ran up to Brian and kissed him, and I think I scared him, because he didn't know it was me. I could tell that because he didn't kiss me back. I parted my lips from him and smiled. "Kennedy!" I said, hugging me. Nick shot his head up and scanned the room for Marissa, and when he saw her he literally ran to her, scooped her up in his arms, spun her around and kissed her. Brian stood there holding me and Donna stood on a chair. "Excuse me!" she said. Nick set Marissa down and everyone turned their attention to Donna. "Congradulations, guys, you are done with touring for a year, and you have a full, complete break from everything for the next three months. But don't get too comfortable, because you hit the studio to make your third album after that," she said. All the guys and musicians hollared and clapped, and they guys were cleared to go home. "Ken, I had no idea you were going to be here!" Brian said, taking my hand. "Well, I thought I'd suprise you," I said, kissing him. We managed to make our wy through the airport with Nick and Marissa, even with screaming girls recognizing Brian and Nick, but the bodyguards handled them. We made it to our cars and said our good-byes. Nick and Marissa got into their Durango and took off, and Brian and I got in his Jeep. I had ridden over here with Marissa in her and Nick's Durango because I knew Brian's Jeep was here. He put his bags in the trunk and got in the driver's seat. I got in the passenger side and set the 'gift' in my lap. "What's that?" he asked, turning on the ignition. I reached over and turned the radio off and handed him the box. "Something to say welcome home with," I answered. He put the Jeep back in park and looked at me. "You don't have to buy me something to say welcome home with," he said, tearing away a piece of tape. "I know, but this time is special," I said. I clasped my hands together and watched him tear the wrapping paper away. He again looked at me strangely when he saw the plain white box under the paper. He opened the box and slowly pulled the tissue paper back to reveal the baby outfit. "Kennedy..." he said with a questioning look, then his eyes got huge. "Oh my gosh," he whispered. I smiled, waiting to hear what he was going to say. "Does this mean what I think it means?" he asked me, searching my eyes. I could tell he desparately wanted me to say yes. I nodded. "I'm gonna be a dad?" he said, almost as if he didn't believe me. He grabbed my hands. "Am I?" he asked, smiling. "Well, not tomorrow!" I laughed. He pulled me in and kissed me. "Well when!" he pleaded. I could tell he wanted to know everything. "In seven and a half months. Nine months from the night before you guys went on tour!" I laughed as he put the Jeep in reverse. "Well, what is it?" he said, driving out of the parking garage. "Baby, it's too early to tell. We can find out in two months, if you want," I said, looking over at him. He looked back and smiled. "Of course I want to know!" he said. "We are gonna have to get one of those little kid's basketball hoops now," he said. I laughed. "Yeah, we will. My baby is going to be the best basketball player on the planet, next to her dad," I said. "HER? What if it's a boy?" he asked. "Well then, my baby will be the best basketball player on the planet, next to HIS dad!" I answered. He smiled and nodded. "Me, a dad. I gotta call my mom!" he said, reaching for his cell phone. He pressed his mom's speed dial button and I heard her say, "Hello?" "Mom? It's me.... Yeah, we just got back... No, I'm in my car... It was great...Mom, I just got the best gift ever..."
