Part 13

**2 Months Later**

Kevin watched the television closely as his girlfriend played her role as Laurel at her wedding to ‘Phillip’. She looked stunning in the long medieval style gown. Her ebony hair was curled in tiny spirals and twisted up, with strands about her face. Kevin watched ‘Phillip’ caress her cheek, much in the way he had always done, and pulled her in for a kiss.

Kevin smiled and flipped off the TV, waiting patiently for Stephanie to get there. Today was the day, the day he would ask her the one question he couldn’t silence any longer. He smiled at the thought of their wedding, it would be perfect, he would make sure of that. He smirked devilishly thinking of where they’d go for the honeymoon, and everything they could do…

"Oh Kevvy, I’m here…" Stephanie’s voice filtered through the quiet house. He walked out to greet her, stopping mid-step to gawk at her in the dark blue halter dress she wore. It stopped about two inches before her knees, and fit snugly to her chest.

"Damn Sweet Thang, you look… delicious." Kevin muttered in his deep southern drawl. She flushed slightly and turned around for him, lifting her long black mane up. His jaw dropped at the diving back that exposed every inch of her skin to her lower back.

"You like, Baby? I saw it and thought of you." She grinned, accepting the hand he held out for her. He twirled her around once, staring at the flowing indigo silky material.

"Baby, it’s gorgeous, but only because you’re wearing it. You ready to go out for your surprise?" Kevin smiled, pulling her body closer to feel the soft fabric with his fingers. It was as soft as her skin.

"Yes, I can’t wait. But where exactly are we going?" She asked, wrapping an arm around his waist as his hand rested on her bared lower back.

"Out to eat. That’s all I’m gonna tell you. You have to wait…" He chuckled, leading her out the door and to the car. "Well, Beautiful, you ready?"

"Always. Let’s go, I wanna see my surprise!" She giggled like a child, hopping into his little black sports car.

**At the Restaurant**

"Where is he? They should have been here by now!" Brian glanced down at his watch for the hundredth time that minute.

"Chill man. They’ll be here. Kevin just wants this to be the most magical night for them." Aj smiled, taking a sip of the Italian wine in front of him.

"Yeah, and plus Nick and Adrienne aren’t here yet! Chill boy." Theresa laughed, noticing Kevin and Stephanie walking into the restaurant, hand in hand. "What took you guys so long? We’ve been waiting for forever!"

"Oh, hush Trease! It wasn’t that long…" Brian smiled towards his cousin and best friend. He stood and hugged Stephanie, kissing her cheek softly.

"Oh, now why is everyone being all nice and sweet to me?" She laughed taking her seat between Aj and Kevin. "Hey, where’s Nickers and Adrienne at?"

"Right behind ya Babes!" A voice whispered in her ear. Stephanie jumped up from her seat and turned around to hug Nick tightly. "Man, it’s been a while hasn’t it?"

"Yeah it has… I missed you. How are you doing?" She met his eyes and held his gaze for an answer.

"Much better since you introduced me to Addy. She’s the best." He replied, releasing her from a bear hug to wrap an arm around Adrienne. Adrienne smiled at Stephanie and allowed Nick to lead her to her seat. Stephanie returned to her seat beside Kevin and rested her head against his shoulder. He turned away from his conversation with his cousin and kissed her forehead.

"Hey Babygirl?" He muttered as a hand rested on her silk covered thigh.

"Hmm?" She breathed in the scent of his cologne deeply.

"What do you say to a dance before dinner?"

"Kevvy, there’s no music…" She reminded, resting her hand over his.

"Well, I can fix that! Come on…" He helped her to her feet and pulled her out to the empty dance floor. He left her side for an instant to instruct the small orchestra what to play. He returned to her and kissed her softly. The band began the first few strings and Kevin began to sing the lyrics to their song.

"It’s not that I can live without you,
It’s just that I don’t even want to try,
Every night I dream about you
Every since the day we said goodbye
If I wasn’t such a fool
Right now I’d be holding you
There’s nothin’ that I wouldn’t do
Baby if I only knew…
" He sang in his beautiful baritone voice to her. She blushed softly as the eyes of the restaurant turned to observe the picture perfect couple.

"The words to say,
the road to take,
to find a way back to your heart.
I’d turn back time to make you mine,
‘cause you’re so special to me…
Please let me find a way back to your heart.
" Kevin finished and noticed his girlfriend’s brown eyes already brimming with tears. He smiled and kissed her softly. She leaned into his ear and breathed softly for a moment.

"Kevvy, marry me."

Kevin pulled back a bit to see the complete love and seriousness in her eyes. His eyes watered with hers and he kissed her once more. When they broke the kiss, he knelt down on one knee and stared at her. He noticed her knee trembling furiously.

"Babygirl, I would be honored if you would be my wife…" He slid the sparkling silver ring onto her finger and caught her as she tumbled into his arms. Stephanie couldn’t help but to smother his face with kisses, holding him as close to her as possible while she shook with joy.

Everyone in the restaurant stood and applauded, a few whistles collected from the guys. But the couple didn’t hear anything but the music, still tinkling from next to them. They slowly composed themselves, wiping each others tears away and kissed one last time before rising and heading back for the table.

And of course, they lived happily ever after…
