Chapter 22:

A month later, Lisa had routinely come around to see her father, and sneak a minute with Nick. Theresa and Aj were more into each other than ever, and Stephanie’s tummy was showing she was almost in her seventh month of pregnancy as Brian continued to pamper her in every way, loving her more with every passing day. Howie had kept to himself for the most part, hunting alone and ignoring his pack’s new found happiness.

Lisa and Kevin had bonded slightly, causing a major change in Kevin’s attitude and personality. Lisa had never realized so much about how wonderful her mother had been, or how nice it was to have a father. Kevin was slowly allowing Nick to get closer to his daughter but was sure never to leave them alone for too long.

Theresa and Aj found peace in each other both had seemed to be searching for their entire lives. Aj never let a day pass without saying ‘I love you’ to her, filling her heart with so much joy the world outside of the house seemed non-existent. Theresa barely left his side, unless to go out with just Stephanie and Lisa for a girls’ only night. Some days, Theresa even slept in Aj’s coffin, just for the feel of his body next to hers while they slept.

Stephanie, now shining with a brilliant maternal light, allowed Brian to care for her ever whim, even though she only needed him around her for her to be happy. Brian never seemed to stop smiling, just the thought that in almost a month, he would be a father. His Angel would be born and he would have his love and child together forever.

"Lisa, that’s practically suicide, you are aware of that. There is no way you alone can take him down." Nick laid next to the athletic brunette, stroking her naked stomach through the cotton sheets of his bed.

"I don’t care what it takes, if he’s gone then all five of you will be free and I can actually be with you for real. And this town will finally be free of this curse. But you are right, I can’t do it alone. Will you help me, Nicky?" Lisa asked, snuggling her back closer to his naked chest. Nick remained silent, not sure what to say. Before he could answer the bedroom door opened, and Kevin’s head poked in. Nick nearly leaped up from the bed, but got tangled in the sheets and fell off the bed in a heap on the floor. Lisa wrapped the blankets around her body tightly and sat up.

"Sorry to interrupt, but I would like to speak to my daughter for a moment." Kevin stated calmly, not even giving Nick a threatening look. He simply retreated from the room and shut the door.

"Okay, who the hell was that, and what have they done with Kevin." Nick muttered climbing back up onto the bed. Lisa just shook her head and searched for her discarded jeans on the floor.

"Well, I guess I’ll find out what he needs. And Nick, I expect an answer soon." Lisa stated, pulling on her clothing and leaving the room without a second glance at him.

"Oh, it just kicked." Stephanie giggled, watching Theresa and Aj rest their ears against her stomach.

"I don’t think it’s going to be talking to you just yet." She laughed, feeling another strong kick. Aj and Theresa moved away laughing and sat up on the couch next to her. Brian walked in, holding a cup of warm hot chocolate and handed it to Stephanie. "Thank you, Sweetie."

Brian smiled back sitting down beside her. He whispered something in her ear and grinned, causing a soft blush over her face. Aj took the hint that Brian wanted to be alone and slowly started to get up, pulling Theresa with him.

"Wait a minute guys. We need to talk!" Kevin stated, entering the room, followed by Lisa and Nick.

"What’s up guys?" Theresa asked, resting her head against Aj’s shoulder as they sat back down on the couch. Kevin took a seat in the couch opposite theirs, Nick and Lisa sitting on each side of him.

"Well, we still need Howie. Nick, go get him, he’s somewhere in the house." Kevin said, relaxing against the cushioned couch.

"What’s up, Kev?" Brian asked, wrapping an arm over Stephanie’s shoulder, and resting one hand on her tummy.

"I think I better let Lisa explain. Since it is her plan and she needs you all to agree to help." Kevin replied, looking towards his daughter’s surprised face.

"Oh, um, well…" Lisa stuttered, watching Nick return to the living room with Howie following behind. Howie just remained in the doorway, slouching against the framework. Nick gave a supporting smile as he sat down next to Kevin again.

"Go ahead Lis, we’re all listening…" Theresa suggested, trying to help her friend along.

"Well, I sorta have this plan on how we might be able to assassinate Louis Pearlman…" She started, only to be stopped by Howie.

"Are you insane? There is no way anyone could stop him for one thing, and who ever said we wanted to? Kevin, where did your offspring come up with such a horrible idea?"

"Silence Howard. Continue Lisa…" Kevin silenced Howie’s words immediately. Lisa’s eyes lowered to the carpet and she pushed her hair back behind her ears.

"Well, one person alone cannot defeat him. We need everyone’s help and cooperation to make this work…" She started, then explained her entire plan to everyone.

"So, the little slayer bitch thinks she can beat me. Well that’s what happens when it’s a woman coming up with a plan. And to think she shares Kevin’s blood." Lou Pearlman sighed, shaking his head abruptly after hearing the story.

"Yes well you should see Kevin now. Instead of the merciless predator he was, he is now as weak hearted as Brian. Ever since he found his child." A voice agreed, keeping within the darkening shadows.

"And you say now Brian has an expected child as well? My, my, my quite a little surprise. But I could careless about him and his whore at the moment. When did she say they would attack?" Lou asked, his pudgy fingers removing his glasses and wiping them clean before repositioning them on his stub of a nose.

"I don’t know but I imagine it will be soon. She seems to have an impatience streak in her. She is ready to strike the minute she can surprise you. So don’t let your guard down, not even for an instant." The voice replied, keeping their dark stares on the obese man.

"Well, thank you for your assistance. Though, if your pack finds out, there is no way I can protect that pretty little neck of yours." He smirked, and walked away, back into his protective office.

Stephanie stirred in her sleep, waking from her frightening dreams. Her mouth was dry and she could barely swallow. She carefully eased from the bed, trying not to wake Brian during the morning hours. She tip-toed down the hall to the small white bathroom, hoping not to wake any of her sleeping friends. She reached for the light and squinted against the harsh flood of white light. She looked up into her reflection and noticed the sheen of sweat over her face. She quickly turned on the faucet and grabbed a small glass that was placed near the sink’s edge. She gulped down two of the tiny glasses of water and looked back up at her reflection. Behind her was a portly man in glasses with a balding head, smirking with malicious intent. The glass slipped from her fingers as she spun around. The glass shattered onto the cool tile floor, spitting glass over the ground. No one was behind her. She was alone in the bathroom. She let out a shaky sigh and leaned down to clean up the glass before it pierced her tiny feet. As she bent forward, Stephanie noticed the harsh liquid red stain down the front of her long white chemise. She gasped in horror and leaned back against the wall as an acrimonious pain ripped through her stomach. Her legs weakened with the pain, and she slipped down the wall to the floor.

Kevin heard the glass shatter and a faint gasp. He rose from his resting place on the large bed and went to investigate. His bare feet padded down the thickly carpeted hall to the bright light of the bathroom. He slowly pushed the door open to the wall and peered inside. The faucet was still running the cold water and a glass was shattered on the floor. In the corner near the toilet, Stephanie’s dark mane of hair shifted over her trembling frame. He rushed towards her, ignoring the minor bits of broken glass stabbing his feet. Kevin touched her arm softly, causing her to jerk up quickly, fear plainly obvious in her eyes.

"What’s the matter?" His voice was deep and calming, only a whisper to her. Her gaze dropped to her stomach and searched for the crimson stains down her nightgown. But it had vanished, only an illusion. Her eyes were weeping, whether they were tears of relief or tears of trepidation she knew not. Kevin could see the confusion over her face and hugged her body to his. He lifted her from the floor with ease, as if she weighed no more than a feather. He carried her back down to Brian’s door and silently walked in. He laid her back in her spot on the bed, and replaced the blankets back over her, tucking her in securely, as if he were a father putting his child to bed.

Kevin turned to leave and was stopped by her voice, in a low, sweet whisper.

"Thank you Kevin."

He didn’t reply but Stephanie knew he smiled softly, she could feel it. She watched him leave, closing the door behind him. She rolled over on the spacious waterbed and curled up closer to Brian’s warm body. He lazily shifted and wrapped an arm over her, petting her hair softly.
