“Hey beautiful.” A.J said walking to her and kissing her cheek.
“Hi.” Theresa blushed as A.J walked into the living room.
“What time is the reservation?” A.J asked standing in the living room with his hands in his pockets.
“Oh…um…I think around 7pm. We should go.” Theresa stated as A.J walked closer to her.
“Well its only 6:30pm, we do have thirty minutes to spare.” A.J smiled slyly as he wrapped his arm around Theresa’s waist and pulled her close.
“A.J we don’t have time.” Theresa lied. She knew she had to tell A.J sooner or later about what she did, but she really didn’t want to, cause she knew it would break his heart but she had to. As A.J pulled her closer and began to kiss down her neck, she knew she had to. “A.J, I slept with Justin.” Theresa blurted out then there was an awkward silence and Theresa could feel that A.J had stopped kissing her.
“You what?!” A.J began to yell moving away from her staring at her bewildered.
“I…I sle…pt with um…Justin.” Theresa stuttered noticing the hurt and anger in A.J’s stone eyes.
“HOW COULD YOU!!” A.J yelled as he threw his hands in the air and he stared angrily at her.
“A.J…I…I…”
“Theresa! Why? I thought you loved me.” A.J butted in.
“I do.” Theresa replied watching his eyes start to well up with tears.
“Well if you loved me you wouldn’t go fuck your ex-boyfriend!”
“A.J…I didn’t mean to it was all an accident.” Theresa said.
“How could it be. What did he do slip and fall into you?” A.J said sarcastically as he paced back and forth.
“A.J please…”
“Please what? Please forgive you for being a whore!” A.J spat, then just realized what he said.
“That was harsh.” Theresa whispered as she wrapped her arms around her stomach.
“Fuck this shit!” A.J stated as he started out the door.
“A.J wait!” Theresa begged. A.J turned around and just stared at Theresa with a mean look on his face. “We have to go together.”
“Why?”
“Cause they are expecting us to be happy. And plus we cant ruin it for Steph and Kev.” Theresa exclaimed. “Kevin’s going to propose.”
“Fine.” With that A.J left the house not saying another word to Theresa. Theresa walked out behind A.J and climbed into his truck then they were headed off to the restaurant. The whole ride to down town was silent except for the radio. Then a familiar tune came on that made Theresa want to cry, which was ‘I’ll never break your heart’. When she heard A.J’s raspy voice began to sing that part that he sang to her that day in the hotel she could hear her heart begin break. Looking over she noticed that A.J had tears streaming down his face.
‘I still and will always love you.’ Theresa thought to herself as they pulled up to the restaurant.
-In the restaurant-
Kevin, Stephanie, Lisa, Howie, Jessica, Brian, Leighanne, and Nick were sitting at the large dining table in a conversation of small talk while waiting for Theresa and A.J to arrive.
“So Jessica didn’t you use to go to school with Theresa? I thought she mentioned that to me awhile back.” Brian asked starting up a new topic.
“Yeah.” Jessica smiled as she pushed her long black curls off her shoulder and onto her back. “Actually we had a couple of freshmen classes together, then she moved down here.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, she use to always help me with a problem she was and still is a great friend.” Jessica chimed then noticed A.J and Theresa walk in through the doors. Stephanie noticed something quite odd about her two friends. A.J was walking a good foot a head of her and Theresa lagging behind.
“Nice of you two join us.” Kevin smirked as he stood up to help Theresa to her chair, which was next to him.
“Well you know how traffic is these days.” Theresa joked forcing a smile across her face.
“Yeah, yeah.” A.J mumbled as sat next to her.
“Well now since everyone is here, shall we order?” Brian chuckled as he picked up his menu and scanned through it. After everyone ordered their meals they began into another session of small talk.
“So…um…what was you guys talking about before we came in?” Theresa asked taking a sip of her glass of water she ordered.
“Oh how me and you went to school together.” Jessica replied as Howie took a hold of her hand in his.
“Really, man those were the days.” Theresa sighed as she watched the waitress return to them with a tray of food. After eating their meals Kevin looked at Theresa and winked as he stood up in front of Stephanie.
“What did you sleep with him to?” A.J mumbled to Theresa after he noticed Kevin wink at her.
“No! I might be from Kentucky, but I sure don’t sleep with my cousins.” Theresa spat back quietly turning her attention back to Kevin.
“Stephanie, baby you know I love you right?” Kevin smiled down at his girlfriend.
“Yeah, Kev, I love you too.” Stephanie grinned as she watched Kevin get down on one knee while pulling a black ring box out of his pocket and her eyes grew wide.
“Well, you Stephanie Christine Lindsey the mother of my child and the love of my life, I want you to be my beautiful bride. So what I’m trying to say, is Stephanie…” Kevin began as he pulled out the huge diamond ring and placing it on her finger, “will you marry me?”
“Oh my god!” Stephanie gasped looking into Kevin’s eyes. “Yes, Kevin Scott Richardson I’d love to marry you.” Stephanie answered with tears streaming down her nicely tanned cheeks as she jumped in his arms and kissed his lips passionately while hugging him tightly.
“Way to go cuz.” Theresa and Brian smiled as they clapped for their cousin.
“Congratulations.” Leighanne said nicely as she stood up to give Stephanie a hug.
“Yeah girl, now we gotta start shopping for your dress.” Lisa laughed as she hugged Stephanie too, then looked at the ring on her finger. “Wow, Kevin how much did you pay for this?”
“Um…don’t know.” Kevin shrugged as he hugged Theresa and made his way around the table.
“May I be excused?” Theresa asked nicely looking around the table.
“I won’t miss ya.” A.J mumbled rudely only loud enough for only Theresa to here.
“Yeah, Theresa. Just don’t get lost.” Stephanie smiled at her best friend as she stood up and walked away from the table. Theresa walked straight out of the restaurant where she seen two people standing there holding cigarettes.
“May I bum a cigg, please?” Theresa begged as she watched the elder man hand her one.
“Yes you may miss.” The man replied as he lit it for her.
“Thanks.” Theresa smiled as she took a long drag of it then blowing it sideways from her lips while she walked to the other side of the building where she found a bench that she sat on. ‘God he can be such a jerk.’ Theresa thought to herself as she took another drag.
-At the same time-
“Where the hell did Theresa go?” Lisa wondered as she took a bite of one of Nick’s whip cream dipped strawberries.
“Probably went to go see Justin.” A.J frowned as he stood up from the table and walked away out the building.
“Ok, that makes no since.” Leighanne sighed as her and Brian watched him light a cigarette on the way out.
“Excuse me.” Stephanie said as she stood up and walked out of the restaurant. Walking out she noticed A.J standing they’re smoking on his second cigarette. “You know that’s bad for you.”
“Yeah. I don’t give a shit right now…”
“A.J’s what wrong?” Stephanie butted in crossing her arms across her chest.
“What’s wrong, that little slut is what’s wrong. Did you know that she slept with Justin behind my back, how could she?” A.J yelled as he took another drag.
“A.J she isn’t a slut and you know that. I don’t understand why she went back to that jerk, but I guess she needed someone to talk to.” Stephanie stated in defense of her best friend.
