Behold More Truth
It was Christmas Eve and Cassandra wasn’t surprised that her parents hadn’t been home when she woke up. They’d probably not be even home on Christmas. Around 2 o’clock Cassandra finally got up enough strength to go down the stairs and make herself something to eat and find something to do. She hadn’t done anything all day. She looked at the bare Christmas tree with only lights on it and sighed in disgust. Making herself a sandwich and some popcorn went into the living room and turned on the TV. She was just flipping around when she stopped on MTV. Carson Daley popped on the screen when a music video by the spice girls ended. “And that was Say you’ll be there by those lovely British girls. Now we’ll show you a new segment we have come up with. It’s called The Total Request Wannabe’s. We’ll show you a clip while I explain a little about them. Our first group we shall see is No Doubt. We know you love them but this song is not a strong one. Next we have a brand new group that’s based down in Florida but only big in the European countries. Their first ever single here is the video your seeing currently. They call themselves the Backstreet Boys and I think they deserve to be on here. But of course you guys out there can only do that, not me.” Cassandra watched the clip and gave those cute guys some credit because they danced well and had a certain style to them. She flipped the channels after that because she didn’t like the next video.
Once she finished her lunch she went into the kitchen and cleaned the dishes. After doing multiple choirs around the house, she went back up to her room. Right before she clicked onto the internet connection to start it up, the phone. Since she was the only one home she was forced into answering it.
“Hello?”
“Hey Cassie! Merry Christmas!” The voice on the other end said with much enthusiasm. Cassandra was struck with pure joy.
“TREVOR! HEY! Merry Christmas Trevie! How’s the vacation?”
“It’s great. Hey I got you something that I know you’ll love.”
“Oh cool, I was able to find a little thing for you too. While you were gone.” There was a moment of silence and it was very unpleasant.
“So Cassie sweets, how’s everything holding up around your house.”
“Well, um… yesterday Trevor, I.. it.. it wasn’t so great.” Cassandra stuttered.”
“Oh my God! Cassie how bad is it?” Trevor asked with much concern in his voice.
“Trevor, it hurts to move, I can’t leave the house, and I’m running out of pain killers.” Cassandra’s eyes by now were water and small tears ran down her cheeks.
“Cassie, this has been getting worse and worse as the days keep coming along. We have to go to someone soon!”
“Trevor, we can’t!” Cassandra pleaded.
“Okay, Cassie I’ll be home in three days, we’ll discuss this later. I’m sorry but I gotta go now. Bye Cassie stay strong.”
“Bye Trevor come home soon!”
An hour later when Cassandra had pulled herself back together, she went on-line to try and put herself in another world for awhile. There in her inbox for her email was a letter from Nick. Cassandra opened it in hopes for a little humor or something to ease her pain.
Hey Cassie,
The guys have finally left me alone so I have time to tell you what you should know. There’s a reason why I’m always with my four best friends. Cassie I’m a singer. I don’t just love singing songs like Open Arms; I perform songs of my own on stage. My friends Kevin, Brian, Howie, AJ, and I are all in a group and we travel a lot now. Now, everything I’ve told you in the past was true. I haven’t lied to you. I just skipped on telling you. You did the same thing to me so don’t get mad. At the time we started two years ago, my manager thought it was the best idea to always try to keep my identity a secret. Now though, two years later, that’s a must. But I trust you enough and I know you won’t tell anyone my email or screen names right? Please don’t. Here in Europe we are always getting mobbed and if someone found out my contacts I could get harassed or stalked. You might not even believe me because back in the states no one’s ever heard of us, but that’s okay for now. I trust you will keep my secret, as I will keep yours. My group is called the Backstreet Boys and we currently have an album out. Once I get back to the States, I’ll see if I can send you a copy of it. There, there’s my secret and I glad I finally told you.
Love ya babe,
Nick
“Wait a second… Nick’s the blonde in that music clip I saw earlier! I always knew there was something fishy about that guy from Florida.” Cassandra emailed Nick back and then went surfing around to find surveys and questionnaires to fill out. She loved those things.
