Cat Fight

Melanie turned on her radio and blasted it after just sitting in her room for a couple minutes, thinking at how stunned Nick’s face had looked. She might have been 17, but she kept a notebook, just like a diary. Melanie took her latest one out to write in it. She’d write in one almost everyday since she could write. She had a safe with a lock on it filled with about 20 already filled notebooks.

Dear Self, I just dissed out Nick and Angela both at once. What I said about Angela didn’t bother me at all, but I don’t remember actually how I hurt Nick. Maybe it’s cuz she’s his girlfriend or something. I don’t know all I know is that his stunned face was golden! I just hope I don’t have to do that again.

Back to the pool area once again:

Something really strange is going on here. I don’t like it one bit either. I mean Nick’s hardly interested in me much anymore today. I want the attention I was getting back! “Nick, something bothering you?”

“Wha? Nope I’m fine. I got a headache just now though.” Small lies never hurt anyone right? Nick thought. “Well it’s 6 o’clock, sorry Angel, but got to be go now. Right Brian.”

“Yep, you’re right, let’s go Nick.” Nick gave Angela a tiny, quick hug and the two left. Angela raced up stairs to Mel’s room.

“You did something to Nick didn’t you?” Angela asked as Melanie locked her safe and put in under her bed.

“What do you mean, do something?”

“Just a second ago, he was like all in outer space and not listening to me and everything.”

“So what does that have to do with me?”

“Before I went to make lemonade, he was fine, then when I come back, his brain is gone and you leave. It makes perfect sense that you did something.”

“I didn’t do anything to your boyfriend girly. Maybe when I left, Brian said something to him and he was thinking hard about it after that. Something you should learn how to do.”

“I can think very well, so why don’t you just go to hell.”

“Whoa, good comeback! I’m scared man. I’ll go tell Nick on you and say that you cussed at me.” Melanie sarcastically whined like a little kid.

Angela sighed and rolled her eyes. She went up to Melanie and pushed her down on her bed. Mel got up and then pushed Angie around, they got into a catfight. “You bit me Angie!” Mel punched her in the stomach. Angela slapped her across the face back and they went at it for awhile, screaming at each other and everything. Brett came home to rumble and screaming. He raced up the stairs and stared at the site. He stormed into the room and broke up the fight. “Calm down!” he yelled. He still couldn’t believe the sight. Angela had a black eye, and bruises everywhere. Melanie had red marks and cuts from scratches everywhere. “Look at yourselves! What got two immature adults like you guys into a fight?”

“I’m tired of Angela being a preppy ditz.”

“Yeah well, I’m tired of your intellectual speech, and your wholesome attitude.”

“You girls are sisters, twins, the same exact blood! I know that when you were younger you’d always talk things out! Now whatever made you guys shed blood, figure it out in a more reasonable manor! In the mean time, STAY AWAY FROM EACH OTHER!”

“I’m outa here!” Melanie raced out of the house and jumped into her Monte Carlo. It might have been eight o’clock, a little late to be out alone, but she stopped at a beach not caring about being ‘safe’. She walked up to a tree, right before the sand, and sat down up against the trunk to watch the sunset. “The sunset’s gorgeous huh?”

Melanie jumped. The exact person she did not want to speak to, Nick. “Yeah it is.” He sat down next to her.

“Hey, how’d you get the scratches?”

“Angela and I had a fight.”

“Really? You got that girl to actually defend herself?” Nick laughed.

“She started it.”

“Whoa! What you guys fight about to get so brutal?”

“Everything! For years I kept all the stuff I hated about her to myself and it finally came out. But then again, you don’t care bout me, you’re on her side.”

“I never said that. You just never let me get to know you. I do like your sister but that’s cuz she was very friendly to me at first. You like were all mean so I dunno. Now since you somewhat, in a way, filled me in on what she’s like, I don’t know anything anymore.”

“So you were listening to me when I called her player?”

“Yeah! I was thinking about it for an hour after you said it.” Melanie laughed at Nick’s ‘thoughtfulness’.

“Why are you here at the beach at this hour?”

“I love the sunset, water, and the beach so much, almost every night I take a walk down it. I walk a mile or so one way, then go back to my house.”

“That’s sounds so relaxing.”

“It is.”

“I’m hungry, I think I’m going to go now.”

“You want to come back to my place? I put a pizza in the oven and didn’t eat it yet.”

“Sure.” They went into Mel’s car and drove back to Nick’s and they ate the pizza.

At da house:

All Angela did after Melanie left in her car was call one of her ditzy friends’ back in New York.
