Marques Maybin Guard 175 Clarksville, TN (Northwest High School) Maybin averaged 30.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.4 steals, and 2.7 assists as a senior for his coach Jim Huggins in 1995-96, he lead Northwest High School to a 28-6 record and the final eight of the the Tennessee AAA state tournament, which was the schools first apperance in the state tournament. Shot 58 percent from the field, including 37 percent from the three-point arc, and 81 percent of his free throws. Set a single-season school scoring record as a senior, scoring over 40 points in six games. He reached his top scoring mark of 48 three times as a senior. Maybin, a three year starter averaged 18 points a game as a sophmore and 25 as a junior. Was first team all-state selection as a senior, Maybin gained all district and all area honors three straight years, also earning MVP as a senior. Scored 35 points in the Tennessee-Georgia all-star game following his senior season. Had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in the Derby Classic All Star game at Freedom Hall. Marques is Northwest's career leader in scoring with 2403 points, Maybin orginally signed with Tennessee, but his intial college entrance test score fell just below the level to play as a freshmen. He chose not to lose a year of eligibilty, did not enroll at Tennessee, sat out last season and has now qualified academically to play as a freshmen at UofL. Marques Maybin also considered North Carolina State and Georetown before signing with the Cardinals of Louisville!
