Dion Edward

Dion Edward 6'9" 220lbs. Westark Community College. Edward averaged 23.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.9 blocks for Westark last season. He shot 65 percent from the field. Edward has the whole package! He can get down on the low-blocks and score, or he can step out beyond the 3-point line and knock down some shots. Very similar to current UL forward Alex Sanders, but he can put the ball on the floor and drive like a guard. Has guard skills at 6'9". Not only can Edward play offense, he is a excellent defender as well. Great shot-blocker! Edward played his high school ball at Cincinnati Woodward High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a teammate of UL senior wing forward Eric Johnson. Dion averaged 16.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 5 blocks shots as a senior for Woodward. In High School he received: first-team all-city, all-league and all-Southwest Ohio selection as a senior. Edward was rated amoung the top 20 JUCO players by the Recruiters Handbook in 1997. Picked Louisville over Oklahoma State, Wright State, and Cincinnati. Look for Dion Edward to see alot of minutes at the center position next year. That would then move Alex Sanders to the Power Forward position. Edward has the abilty to play both forward spots, but at 6'9" he will need to play center for Louisville in "98-99" season.
