The History of TLRW

Twin Lakes Redneck Wrestling has its roots in shoot fighting. In 1997, the Grayson County High School Tennis team went to the state tournamet, where a series of submission style fights were held. When the team went back to the state tournament in 1998, another card was held, similiar to the card the previous year, only this year pinfalls were allowed in some matches.
TLRW officially got its name in a Political Science class in January 1999 as part of a project on free enterprise. A ficticious wrestling league was started with the TLRW name. Soon thereafter, the shoot fighting reappeared, only this time on a much more regualr basis.
The first TLRW card was held on Super Bowl Sunday 1999. You can find results of that card here. The TLRW had two more shoot fighting cards before it becmae what is is today. They had a card in a basement in Leitchfield, KY and on in Owensboro, KY at the Ramey Tennis Center. You can see results from those cards here. In June 1999, the TLRW took it's current form of backyard wrestling.
