Corbin vs. Boyle County

Class 4A 2025 UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals

Boyle County High School
Danville, KY
November 28, 2025

© 2025 by Ron Harrison

Boyle County defeated Corbin by the score of 34-33 in an exciting contest that had a little bit of everything including a hotly debated ruling on a key play late in the game. The score was tied 27-27 after three quarters setting the stage for a wild finish. Boyle County extended the lead to 34-27 on a six yard run by Seneca Driver with less than 10 minutes left in the game. Corbin’s Cam Estep answered with a 26 yard touchdown run to pull within 1; 34-33 with 3:19 left on the clock Unfortunately for the second time in this game the extra point attempt was blocked. Corbin attempted an on side kick but Boyle County recovered and started their drive on the Corbin 46. The first play from scrimmage resulted in an apparent fumble on the snap and the Corbin faithful felt that Mason Salmons recovered the ball in Boyle County territory. The celebration was short lived however after discussion the Rebels retained possession because of an inadvertent whistle and Boyle County ran out the clock. This play will probably be argued over and discussed as long as the Rebels and Redhounds play football.

Boyle County recorded 421 yards while Corbin recorded 361 yards. Corbin lost a fumble and had a pass intercepted.

JiDyn Smith-Hisel led Boyle County’s ground game with 163 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. Seneca Driver carried the ball six times for 25 yards and a touchdown. Seneca Driver added three receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Brayden Borders-Coffman led the defense with four solo and six assisted tackles. Brady Edwards had a big night with four solo and three assisted tackles recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass he returned 76 yards. Lucas Akers also recorded four solo and three assisted tackles. Jax Crowe added two solo and five assisted tackles. Bubby McPherson recorded five solo and one assisted tackles.

Cam Estep led Corbin’s ground game with 129 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries. Mason Salmons carried the ball nine times for 65 yards and a touchdown. Cole Stevens recorded 47 yards on 12 carries. Clay Akins chipped in with 30 yards on two carries. Mason Salmons completed four of nine passes for 90 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Cole Stevens caught one pass for 60 yards and a touchdown. Cam Estep added one reception for 17 yards. Zach Thomas chipped in with one catch for 13 yards.
