Henry Clay coach Daniel Brown started the follpowing lineup: 6-4 Jr. Jackson Stephan, 6-3 Sr. Kade Hilander, 6-5 Sr. Hassan Bush, 6-0 Sr. Kayson Brown, and 6-2 Sr. AJ Dixon. Bryan Station coach AJ Dixon countered with 6-3 Jr. Taeshawn Adams, 6-1 Jr. Amari Owens, 5-6 Sr. Antowone Burton, 5-11 Sr. Justin Richmond, and 5-11 Sr. Rashaad Faulkner.

Henry Clay led 46-30 in the third quarter but Bryan Station outscored the Blue Devils 18-4 in the final quarter to earn a 55-54 victory. There were four lead changes and four ties in this game. Bryan Station shot 38% from the field including five of 20 from the three point line. The Defenders connected on 12 of 22 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 Henry Clay turnovers. Henry Clay shot 41.7% from the field including seven of 21 from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Bryan Station turnovers.

Amari Owens led Bryan Station with 17 points including seven of 12 free throws, and two rebounds. Taeshawn Adams added 14 points including five of eight free throws, and five rebounds. Rashaad Faulkner recorded 13 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and two steals. Justin Richmond chipped in with nine points, two rebounds, and three steals.

Kayson Brown led Henry Clay with 14 points including four three point baskets, and two rebounds. AJ Dixon added 14 points including two three point baskets, and four rebounds. Jackson Stephan recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Hassan Bush chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.

Great Crossing trailed 56-47 in the final quarter but finished the game on a 14-2 run to earn a 61-58 victory over South Laurel. There were 10 lead changes and five ties in this game. Great Crossing shot 50% from the field including two of 17 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on nine of 12 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine South Laurel turnovers. South Laurel shot 54.8% from the field including nine of 17 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on three of five free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Great Crossing turnovers.

Vince Dawson III led Great Crossing with 20 points and eight rebounds. Malachi Moreno added 16 points on seven of seven from the field, two of two free throws, 10 rebounds, four assists, four blocked shots, and two steals. LJ Holman recorded 10 points, two rebounds, and five assists. Gage Richardson chipped in with seven points and three assists.

Jordan Mabe led South Laurel with 23 points including two three point baskets, and two blocked shots. Colton Rawlings added 15 points including three three point baskets, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Kaiden McQueen recorded six points, three rebounds, and two assists. 5-10 Jr. Landon Howard chipped in with six points including two three point baskets.

Montgomery County coach Jason Mays countered with 6-6 Jr. Luke Fawns, 6-5 So. Tyce Jarvis, 6-7 Fr. Andrew Terry, 5-9 Sr. Cayden Reed, and 6-3 Jr. Dawson Gentry.

Cayden Reed hit a three point basket at the buzzer to give Montgomery County a 64-62 victory over Covington Catholic. There were five lead changes and three ties in this game. Montgomery County shot 45.5% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line. The Indians connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 12 Covington Catholic turnovers. Covington Catholic shot 47.5% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on two of six free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Montgomery County turnovers.

Cayden Reed led Montgomery County with 24 points including two three point baskets, four of five free throws, four rebounds, and six assists. Tyce Jarvis added 22 points including three of four free throws, five rebounds, and two blocked shots. Andrew Terry recorded six points and eight rebounds. Luke Fawns chipped in with six points, two rebounds, and three assists.

Athens McGillis led Covington Catholic with 21 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, and five assists. Donovan Bradshaw added 14 points, 22 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Nolan Ruthsatz recorded eight points and three rebounds. Cash Harney chipped in with eight points, two assists, and three steals.

Amirah “Tootie” Jordan, and 5-8 Sr. Caroline Osting. Simon Kenton coach Jeff Stowers countered with 5-10 Jr. Anna Kelch, 5-7 Jr. Megan Gadzala, 5-9 Jr. Haylie Webb, 5-3 So. Brynli Pernell, and 5-4 Fr. Bella Ober.

Simon Kenton defeated Sacred Heart Academy 75-70 in overtime to end Sacred Heart’s 92 consecutive victories against in-state competition. There were 11 lead changes and five ties in this game and the score was tied 64-64 at the end of regulation. Simon Kenton shot 51% from the field including 12 of 25 from the three point line. The Lady Pioneers connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Sacred Heart turnovers. Sacred Heart shot 52.7% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Valkyries connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 19 Simon Kenton turnovers. (Za’Kiyah Johnson, Tootie Jordan, and Morgan Frey all flouled out for Sacred Heart).

Brynli Pernell led Simon Kenton with 22 points including four three point baskets, four of five free throws, three rebounds, and four assists. Bella Ober added 21 points including three three point baskets, four of six free throws, three rebounds, and five assists. Haylie Webb recorded 13 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Anna Kelch chipped in with 12 points on four three point baskets, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Megan Gadzala recorded seven points, five rebounds, and five assists. The five starters should be named “The Iron 5” as they each recorded 36 minutes of playing time and never left the floor tonight as they pulled off this hurculean task of knocking off the reigning giant of girls basketball in the Bluegrass.

Za’Kiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart with 25 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and six steals. “Tootie” Jordan added 16 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Morgan Frey recorded 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Brianna Wilkins chipped in with seven points and four rebounds. 5-7 Fr. Riley Gilvin added seven points.

The score was tied 37-37 after three quarters but Great Crossing outscored George Rogers Clark 18-6 in the final quarter to earn a 55-43 victory. There were six lead changes and nine ties in this game. Great Crossing shot 41.5% from the field including two of 16 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on nine of 10 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored six points off seven George Rogers Clark turnovers. George Rogers Clark shot 34% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Great Crossing turnovers.

Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 22 points including six of six free throws, 20 rebounds, four assists, and five blocked shots. LJ Holman added 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Vince Dawson III recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds. George Rogers Clark raced out to a 16-4 first quarter lead but Sacred Heart rallied to pull away in the second half for an 80-68 victory over the Lady Cardinals. The Valkyries connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 15 GRC turnovers. GRC shot 42.1% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cardinals connected on 13 of 17 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Sacred Heart turnovers.

“Tootie” Jordan led Sacred Heart with 28 points including 11 of 11 free throws, four rebounds, seven assists, and five steals. Za’Kiyah Johnson added 26 points including four three point baskets, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Madison Central defeated the injury plagued Paul Laurence Dunbar by the score of 85-50. Madison Central shot 53.2% from the field including seven of 19 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 40 points off 24 Dunbar turnovers. Dunbar shot 36.2% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bulldogs connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 11 Madison Central turnovers.

The Lady Indians connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 20 Estill County turnovers. Estill County shot 26.8% from the field including one of 14 from beyond the arc. The Lady Engineers connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored four points off 10 Madison Central turnovers.

Lafayette trailed 26-22 at halftime but they outscored West Jessamine 13-5 in the third quarter on their way to a 52-44 victory. Lafayette shot 40.8% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine West Jessamine turnovers. West Jessamine shot 30.8% from the field including five of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Colts connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off six Lafayette turnovers.

Tess Nelsin led a balanced Lafayette scoring attack with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Belle Combs added 12 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Addison Combs recorded eight points, eight rebounds, two assists, and three blocked shots. Anna Clay Denton chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, nine assists, and two steals. Abbey Popham recorded eight points and two steals.

Lexington Catholic pulled away in the final quarter to defeat a cold shooting (28.3%) Madison Central team by the score of 53-41. The score was tied six times and there were seven lead changes in this game. Lexington Catholic shot 44.4% from the field including eight of 16 from the three point line. The Knights connected on five of five free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 15 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 28.3% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored eight points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Jacob Holland led Lexington Catholic with 16 points including four three point baskets, two rebounds, and two assists. Max Meagher added nine points and five rebounds. Hank Woodall recorded eight points. 6-7 Fr. Everett Stuart chipped in with six points on two three point baskets and two rebounds.
