Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. ZaKiyah Johnson, 5-8 Sr, Caroline Osting, 6-0 Sr. Morgan Frey, 5-4 So. Amirah “Tootie” Jordan, and 5-10 Jr. Brianna Wilkins. Highlands coach Jaime Richey countered with 5-10 Jr. Kate Bucher, 5-9 Jr. Avery Barber, 6-3 Sr. Marissa Green, 5-2 Fr. Maren Orme, and 5-6 Jr. Kaylee Mills.

Sacred Heart Academy defeated Highlands by the score of 74-63. Sacred Heart shot 50.9% from the field including nine of 17 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Highlands turnovers. Highlands shot 44.2% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Bluebirds connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Sacred Heart turnovers.

ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart Academy with 27 points including four three point baskets, and seven rebounds. Morgan Frey added 14 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals. Amirah Jordan recorded 14 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Brianna Williams chipped in with 12 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Maren Orme led Highlands with 22 points including eight of nine free throws, and three steals. Marissa Green added 19 points including five of seven free throws, 13 rebounds, and two assists. Kaylee Mills recorded eight points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.

Covington Catholic coach Jake Thelen countered with 6-1 Sr. Nolan Ruthsatz, 6-0 So. Teegan Stava, 6-7 Jr. Donovan Bradshaw, 5-11 Jr. Cash Harney, and 6-0 Jr. Athens McGillis.

Covington Catholic defeated Newport by the score of 47-43. The score was tied three times and there were three lead changes in the game. Covington Catholic shot 42.1% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 11 of 17 from the free throw line, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Newport turnovers. Newport shot 30% from the field including one of 11 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Covington Catholic turnovers.

Athens McGillis led Covington Catholic with 15 points including three three point baskets, four of six free throws, two rebounds, and two assists. Cash Harney added 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Donovan Bradshaw recorded six points and eight rebounds. Nolan Ruthsatz chipped in with five points and three rebounds.

Yamil Rondon led Newport with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. DaShawn Anderson added 12 points including four of five free throws and seven rebounds. Amontae Lowe recorded six points. James Turner chipped in with five points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.

Ryle coach Katie Haitz countered with 5-8 8th Grade Emerson Dowell, 5-9 Jr. Ava Warner, 6-5 8th Grade Jayden McClain, 5-6 8th Grade Laynee Hampton, and 5-7 Jr. Piper Aschermann. (5-10 Jr. Jaelyn Jones out today with an injury).

Madison Central raced out to a 29-12 first quarter lead on their way to a 78-48 victory over Ryle. Madison Central shot 53.8% from the field including 11 of 21 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 18 Ryle turnovers. Ryle shot 51.4% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc. The Lady Raiders connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 12 points off nine Madison Central turnovers.

Cameryn Ridderikhoff led Madison Central with 25 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and five steals. Nataya Strader added 24 points including five three point baskets, five of six free throws, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Brittany Campbell recorded 17 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Brooke Campbell chipped in with six points, six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.

Laynee Hampton led Ryle with 13 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Ava Warner added 10 points and four rebounds. Jayden McClain recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and three blocked shots. Emerson Dowell chipped in with eight points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Madison Central coach Scott True countered with 5-7 So. Brooke Campbell, 5-5 Jr. Jordynn Miles, 5-9 Sr. Cameryn Ridderikhoff, 5-7 Sr. Brittany Campbell, and 5-6 Sr. Nataya Strader.

Frederick Douglass pulled away in the closing minutes to defeat Madison Central by the score of 64-58. The score was tied 50-50 after three quarters. There were eight ties and 10 lead changes in the game. Free throw shooting and offensive boards were Madison Central’s “Achilles Heel” tonight as they were only 13 of 25 from the free throw line and had a deficit of 14-3 on the offensive rebounds. Frederick Douglass shot 44.6% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Broncos connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 14 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 52.5% from the field including three of eight from beyond the arc. The Lady Indians connected on 13 of 25 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Frederick Douglass turnovers.

Jaelee Knowles led Frederick Douglass with 27 points including seven of 10 free throws, 14 rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals. Tamia Waide added 14 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Mikalee Bennett recorded seven points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Kate Baker chipped in with six points on two three point baskets.

Nataya Strader led Madison Central with 21 points, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Brittany Campbell added 15 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Cameryn Ridderikhoff recorded 11 points and five rebounds. Jordynn Miles chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.

North Laurel coach Eddie Mahan countered with 5-11 Sr. Brooke Nichelson, 5-6 Sr. Bella Sizemore, 6-2 So. Mariella Claybrook, 5-4 Fr. Emma Carl, and 5-6 Jr. Haley Combs.

North Laurel led 55-33 after three quarters but Madison Central’s pressure defense created some turnovers in the final quarter allowing the Lady Indians to cut the final margin down to a 65-53 victroy for North Laurel. Madison Central did not have an answer for North Laurel’s potent duo of Brooke Nichelson and Mariella Claybrook who torched the Lady Indians for a total of 49 points and 19 rebounds in their high-low offense. North Laurel shot 52.2% from the field including two of 15 from the three point line. The Lady Jaguars connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 17 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 43.9% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc. The Lady Indians connected on 13 of 17 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 20 North Laurel turnovers.

Brooke Nichelson led North Laurel with 37 points including eight of 11 free throws, seven rebounds, two assists, three blocked shots, and four steals. Mariella Claybrook added 12 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, four blocked shots, and four steals. Bella Sizemore recorded seven points, two rebounds, and five assists. Haley Combs chipped in with five points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Nataya Strader led Madison Central with 16 points including two three point baskets, six of 10 free throws, five rebounds, and two assists. The Lady Generals connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 38.3% from the field including nine of 26 from beyond the arc. The Lady Warhawks connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Lafayette turnovers.

Anna Clay Denton led Lafayette with 19 points including five three point baskets, four of eight free throws, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Belle Combs added 17 points including five of seven free throws, seven rebounds, and four assists. Henry Clay defeated Lafayette by the score of 91-68. Henry Clay shot 61% from the field including 11 of 24 from the three point line. The Blue Devils connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 17 Lafayette turnovers. Nicholas County coach Reesa Martin started the following lineup: Sr. Mady Adams, Sr. Peyton Boone, So. Jadin Isaacs, 5-4 So. Caroline Banks, and 5-9 So. Maggie Simons. Lafayette coach Allison Tate Denton countered with 5-10 Sr. Tess Nelson, 5-6 So. Skylar Davis, 5-10 Sr. Belle Combs, 5-6 Jr. Anna Clay Denton, and 5-5 Sr. Abbey Popham.

Lafayette took control of the game in the second quarter by outscoring Nicholas County 20-5 0n their way to a 60-44 victory. Lafayette shot 45% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 19 Nicholas County trurnovers. Nicholas County shot 42.5% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc. The Lady Jackets connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Lafayette turnovers.

Tess Nelson led Lafayette with 24 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and three assists. Belle Combs added 17 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Anna Clay Denton chipped in with four points, three rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.

Maggie Simons led Nicholas County with 24 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, and five rebounds. Sidney Sexton added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mady Adams recorded four points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.

Hazard rallied from a 29-22 halftime deficit, buoyed by a 26-6 run in the third quarter defeated Estill County by the score of 61-44. Hazard shot 42.5% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line. The Lady Bulldogs connected on 20 of 30 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Estill County turnovers. Estill County shot 27.5% from the field including five of 22 from beyond the arc. The Lady Engineers connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Hazard turnovers.

Madi Frohnapfel led Hazard with 26 points including four three point baskets, eight of 11 free throws, sven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Braylynn Eddington added 15 points and 14 rebounds. Laura Everidge recorded 11 points including eight of 14 free throws, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Jayci Long led Estill County with 22 points including three three point baskets, seven of 10 free throws, eight rebounds, and three steals. Callie Snowden added 10 points, four assists, and four steals. Ava Hale recorded seven points including two three point baskets, and four rebounds.

The Lady Rebels connected on five of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 26 Pendleton County rebounds. Pendleton County shot 34.1% from the field including six of 23 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cats connected on three of three free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 23 Boyle County turnovers.

Addison Yates led Boyle County with 19 points including five three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists. Kensley Leffew added 13 points and eight rebounds. Maggie Burke recorded five points, six rebounds, eight assists, and six steals. Caroline Lemonds and Hadley Russell each scored six points.

Kearstin Mayer led Pendleton County with 11 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. 5-10 So. Kylie Dunn added 10 points and three rebounds. Selena Rarrieck recorded eight points including two three point baskets.

Lexington Christian Academy shot 27.3% from the field including seven of 28 from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 Madison Central turnovers.

Nataya Strader led Madison Central with 19 points including three three point baskets, nine rebounds, and five steals. Cameryn Ridderikhoff added 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Jordynn Miles and 5-6 Sr. Tiana Long each scored eight points. Brittany Campbell recorded seven points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Chapel Brown led Lexington Christian Academy with 16 points including four three point baskets and three rebounds. Claire Roberts added 10 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds. Piper Graham recorded seven points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sophie Pridemore pulled down eight rebounds.

Logan Kennedy hit a shot at the buzzer to give Franklin County a 51-49 victory in a hotly contested game over Frederick Douglass in an early season battle between 11th Region powers. There were six ties and 11 lead changes in this game. Franklin County shot 35.8% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Flyers connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 31.9% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc. The Lady Broncos connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 17 Franklin County turnovers.

Madison Jackson led Franklin County with 15 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds. Juliana Frazee added 10 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. 5-10 7th Grade Jylin Edmondson recorded nine points and two rebounds. Logan Kennedy chipped in with four points and eight rebounds. Ma’Kiyia Wheeler recorded four points, six rebounds, and six assists. 6-1 Sr. Keyonna Taylor added four points and 10 rebounds.

Jaelee Knowles led Frederick Douglass with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and six blocked shots. Tamia Waide added 11 points, two rebounds, and four steals. Kate Baker recorded nine points on three three point baskets and five rebounds. Mikalee Bennett chipped in with four points, five rebounds, and four assists.
