Akron Buchtel vs. Rocky River Lutheran West (Boys) Division II Championship

Akron Buchtel coach Rayshon Dent started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Jayden Maxwell, 6-3 So. Steven Diamond, 6-3 Sr. Amire Robinson, 6-2 Sr. Khoi Thurmon, and 6-2 Sr. Marcel Boyce Jr. Rocky River Lutheran West coach Jordan Duke countered with 6-3 Sr. Clay Noble, 6-2 Jr. Junior Kambomba, 6-4 So. Matthew Meyer, 6-1 Jr. Jayson Levis, and 6-1 Jr. Derek Fairley.

Marcel Boyce Jr. hit two free throws with 14.5 seconds to give Akron Buchtel a 51-49 victory. Rocky River Lutheran West’s Joshua Meyer hit a basket in the lane at the buzzer that was originally thought to tie the game but after the referees reviewed the play the basket was waved off because the shot came after the horn. There were nine ties and 11 lead changes in this game. Akron Buchtel shot 47.2% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Griffins connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off five Rocky River Lutheran West turnovers. Rocky River Lutheran West shot 47.5% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Longhorns connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Akron Buchtel turnovers.

Marcel Boyce Jr. led Akron Buchtel with 18 points including seven of 10 free throws, and pulled down six rebounds. Khoi Thurmon added 11 points including five of six free throws, and three assists. Jayden Maxwell recorded 10 points including two three point baskets. Amire Robinson chipped in with five points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocked shots.

Matthew Meyer led Rocky River Lutheran West with 12 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Jayson Levis added 10 points and five rebounds. Derek Fairley recorded nine points and seven assists.

Richmond Heights outscored Convoy Crestview 29-0 in the third quarter on their way to a 70-26 victory. Richmond Heights shot 51.9% from the field including 11 of 24 from the three point line. The Spartans connected on five of five free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 33 points off 18 Convoy Crestview turnovers. Convoy Crestview shot 32.4% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc. They connected on one of four free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored four points off four Richmond Heights turnovers.

Dorian Jones led Richmond Heights with 25 points including seven three point baskets, and four steals. Jeremy Wilson added 12 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. De’Erick Barber recorded nine points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Demarris Winters Jr. chipped in with nine points, four rebounds, and four steals. Hosea Steele Jr. added eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Gavin Etzler led Convoy Crestview with seven points and three rebounds. Carson Hunter added five points, three rebounds, and five assists.

Ottawa-Glandorf coach Tyson McGlaughlin countered with 6-5 Jr. Colin White, 6-4 Jr. Caden Erford, 6-6 Sr. Theo Maag, 6-1 Sr. Hunter Stechschulte, and 6-2 Jr. Grant Schroeder.

Cleveland Heights Lutheran East defeated Ottawa-Glandorf by the score of 67-61. The score was tied four times and there were five lead changes in the game. Cleveland Heights Lutheran East shot 55.3% from the field including eight of 17 from the three point line. The Falcons connected on 17 of 22 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 14 Ottawa-Glandorf turnovers. Ottawa-Glandorf shot 40% from the field including 11 of 24 from beyond the arc. The Titans connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Cleveland Heights Lutheran East turnovers.

Cody Head led Cleveland Heights Lutheran East with 19 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. TJ Crumble added 12 points. Ronald Taylor recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, 5-11 Jr. Anthony Bruce chipped in with nine points including six of seven free throws.

Colin White led Ottawa-Glandorf with 18 points including three three point baskets, seven points, five assists, and two steals. Hunter Stechschulte added 14 points including four three point baskets. Caden Erford recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists. 5-10 Sr. Levi Unterbrink chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets. Theo Maag recorded eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Akron Archbishop Hoban vs. Pickerington Central (Boys) Division I Championship

Pickerington Central coach Davian Bates countered with 6-6 Sr. Devin Royal, 6-2 Sr. Andrew Hedgepeth, 6-8 Sr. Gavin Headings, 6-0 Jr. Juwan Turner, and 6-1 Sr. Markell Johnson.

The score was tied 31-31 after three quarters but Akron Archbishop Hoban pulled away in the final quarter for a 53-47 victory over Pickerington Central. The score was tied three times and there were 11 lead changes in the game. Akron Archbishop Hoban shot 40.4% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line. The Knights connected on four of 10 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Pickerington Central turnovers. Pickerington Central shot 42.6% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Akron Archbishop Hoban turnovers.

Logan Vowles led Akron Archbishop Hoban with 17 points including five three point baskets, and seven rebounds. William Scott Jr. added 13 points and eight rebounds, Sam Greer recorded 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Andrew Griffith chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets, and five rebounds.

Devin Royal led Pickerington Central with 15 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Gavin Headings added 12 points and eight rebounds. Markell Johnson recorded 11 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Haywood coach Rodney Chatman started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Jamari Person, 6-4 So. Jaybyon Snipe, 6-7 Sr. Janerus Snipe, 6-0 Sr. Tylon Chatman, and 6-1 Jr. Jacari Comage. Knoxville Fulton coach Jody Wright countered with 6-3 Jr. Taj Kimber, 6-2 Jr. Dexter Lewis, 6-5 Jr. Tyler Lee, 5-11 Sr. Marcellus Jackson, and 6-2 Jr. Denaj Kimber.

Knoxville Fulton defeated Haywood by the score of 82-52. Knoxville Fulton shot 64.8% from the field including eight of 14 from the three point line. The Falcons connected on four of five free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 13 Haywood turnovers. Haywood shot 43.5% from the field including seven of 25 from beyond the arc. The Tomcats connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Knoxville Fulton turnovers.

Taj Kimber led Knoxville Fulton with 26 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists. Tyler Lee added 17 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds. Denaj Kimber recorded 14 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Marcellus Jackson chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Dexter Lewis added nine points. Four rebounds, and three assists.

Jordan Frison led Memphis Overton with 19 points including six of nine free throws, 13 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Hampton coach Ned Smith countered with 6-2 Jr. Dylan Trivett, 6-0 Jr. Eugene Carrico, 6-6 Jr. Hayden Campbell, 5-8 Jr. Michael Anspaugh, and 6-0 Sr. Caden Buckles.

Hampton outscored Middleton 18-8 in the final quarter to earn a 51-43 victory. There were three ties and three lead changes. Hampton shot 42.5% from the field including two of six from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Middleton turnovers. Middleton shot 37.8% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc. The Tigers connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Hampton turnovers.

Hayden Campbell led Hampton with 18 points including six of six free throws, eight rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals. Cadon Buckles added 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Eugene Carrico recorded nine points and six rebounds.

Roderick Robinson led Middleton with 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 5-10 Sr. Jordan Stewart added 10 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals. Alcoa coach Ryan Collins countered with 6-3 Jr. Jahvin Carter, 5-11 Sr. Jordan Harris, 6-3 So. Eli Owens, 5-8 So. Eli Graf, and 5-11 Jr. Brady Haun.

Alcoa rallied from a 45-39 deficit at the end of three quarters to defeat Frederick Douglass 59-58 on a layup by Jahvin Carter with four seconds remaining on the clock. There were five ties and nine lead changes in the game. Alcoa shot 43.4% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line. The Tornadoes connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 47.4% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc. The Red Devils connected on one of three free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Alcoa turnovers.

Jahvin Carter led Alcoa with 24 points including five of five free throws, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Jordan Harris added 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists. 6-2 Jr. Brandon Winton Jr. recorded eight points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Eli Owens chipped in with six points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots, and four steals.

6-2 So. Jarmon Brittman led Frederick Douglass with 18 points, five rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals. Tyler Johnson added 12 points, nine rebounds, three blocked shots, and two steals. The Knights connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 LCA turnovers. LCA shot 51.7% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc. The Eagles connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 15 rebounds, and scored five points off five Lexington Catholic turnovers.


John Reinhart led Lexington Catholic with 23 points including five three point baskets, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Reece Potter added 13 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots. Tyler Doyle recorded 11 points and eight assists. Hudson Sparks chipped in with seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists.


Saxton Howard led Lexington Christian Academy with 10 points including two three point baskets. Tyler Hall added eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Scott County defeated Sayre by the score of 57-48. Scott County shot 35.1% from the field including 10 of 28 from the three point line. Madison Southern shot 52.9% from the field including seven of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Eagles connected on 14 of 17 free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds. Ky’Aira Miller, 6-1 So. Dee Alexander, 5-6 So. Cy’Aira Miller, and 6-6 Sr. Nichol Dicks.

Cincinnati Purcell Marian defeated Canal Fulton Northwest by the score of 57-48. Cincinnati Purcell Marian shot 46.2% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line. The Eagles connected on two of five free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 11 New Madison Tri-Village turnovers.

Rylee Sagester led New Madison Tri-Village with 20 points including three point baskets, five of six free throws, two rebounds, and eight assists. Morgan Hunt added 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four blocked shots. 6-3 Jr. Kynnedi Hager recorded 10 points and four rebounds. Torie Richards chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets. Bella Black pulled down 10 rebounds.

Mackenzie Royal-Davis led Toledo Christian with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. Kendall Braden added 12 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Macey Wensink recorded eight points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two steals. Jordan Rosales chipped in with six points on two three point baskets and three assists. The Nubians connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Doylestown Chippewa turnovers. Doylestown Chippewa shot 37.3% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc. The Chipps connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 17 Columbus Africentric turnovers.

Natiah Nelson led Columbus Africentric with 17 points including 11 of 13 free throws, seven rebounds, three assists, four steals, and five blocked shots. Jeniya Bowers added 17 points and five rebounds. Ashtan Winfrey recorded 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Samairah Thompson added 13 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals. 5-4 Jr. Rayanna Howell chipped in with eight points.

Annabel Rodriguez led Doylestown Chippewa with 19 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Jaclyn Jundzilo added 15 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and four steals. Diawna Carter-Hartley led Cincinnati Princeton with 18 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Kali Forston added 16 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals. Sole Williams recorded 13 points and eight assists. Ls’Sonya Hill chipped in with 13 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Mari Gerton added nine points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Danielle Cameron led Olmsted Falls with 22 points including six three point baskets, seven rebounds, and two assists. Christopher coach Hayden Carter started the following lineup: 5-7 Sr. McKensie Jackson, 5-7 Sr. Emily VanHoorebeke, 6-2 Jr. Amiah Hargrove, 5-2 Sr. Tori Crain, and 5-3 Sr. Jessica Gordon. Okawville coach Haylee Bowers countered with 5-8 Jr. Alayna Kraus, 5-7 Jr. Raelyn Obermeier, 5-9 Sr. Megan Rennegarbe, 5-6 Jr. Briley Rhodes, and 5-6 Jr. Madisyn Wienstroer.

Okawville pulled away in the second half for a 56-35 victory over Christopher. Okawville shot 52.3% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Rockets connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and 12 points off nine Christopher turnovers. Christopher shot 36.6% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bearcats connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored five points off five Okawville turnovers.

Alayna Kraus led Okawville with 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Megan Rennegarbe added 17 points and five rebounds. Raelyn Obermeier recorded eight points including two three point baskets.

Julia Korte recorded 11 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. LaGrange (Nazareth Academy) shot 58.5% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line. The Road Runners connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Lincoln turnovers. Lincoln shot 47.2% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Railsplitters connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 LaGrange (Nazareth Academy).

Olivia Austin led LaGrange (Nazareth Academy) with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. Grace Carstensen added 11 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and five steals. Mary Bridget Wilson recorded 11 points including two three point baskets and three assists. Amalia Dray chipped in with 10 points and three assists. Danielle Scully added eight points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Kloe Froebe led Lincoln with 19 points including 11 of 16 free throws, three rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Becca Heitzig added 12 points, three rebounds, and four assists. O’Fallon (H.S.) defeated Lisle (Benet Academy) in double overtime by the score of 62-57. O’Fallon’s Shannon Dowell hit two free throws with 17 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 50-50. Lisle (Benet Academy) had a couple of shots for the win in the last six seconds for the win but the shots would not fall. Shannon Dowell hit a three point shot with two minutes left in the first overtime to tie the score at 54-54. Both teams had opportunities in the last two minutes but failed to score and the game went to the second overtime. O’Fallon (H.S.) finally took control in the second overtime for the win. The score was tied nine times and there were 10 lead changes in the game. O’Fallon (H.S.) shot 52.4% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line. The Panthers connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Lisle (Benet Academy) turnovers. Lisle (Benet Academy) shot 42.2% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc. The Red Wings connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 O’Fallon (H.S.) turnovers.

Shannon Dowell led O’Fallon (H.S.) with 25 points including 10 of 10 free throws, two rebounds, and two assists. Jailah Pelly added 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Josie Christopher recorded nine points on three three point baskets and two steals. D’Myah Bolds chipped in with nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
