Jackson South Side vs. Livingston Academy (Girls) Division 1 Class 3A Championship

Jackson South Side coach Brent McNeal started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Ti’Mia Lawson, 5-7 Jr. Kimora Currie, 5-10 So. Jaidynn Askins, 5-0 Sr. Albany Collins, and 5-2 Sr. Jakarrah Anderson. Livingston Academy coach Lesley Riddle countered with Sr. Halle Ledbetter, 5-10 Sr. Aleah Melton, 6-0 So. Keely Mullins, 5-6 Jr. Mallie Coleman, and 5-10 So. Ellie Butler.

Jackson South Side defeated Livingston Academy by the score of 62-52. Jackson South Side shot 46.5% from the field including four of six from the three point line. The Hawks connected on 18 of 30 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 19 Livingston Academy turnovers. Livingston Academy shot 42.2% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Jackson South Side turnovers.

Jaidynn Askins led Jackson South Side with 19 points, nine rebounds, three blocked shots, and five steals. Albany Collins added 18 points including four three point baskets. Ti’Mia Lawson recorded 15 points including 11 of 16 free throws, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Kimora Currie chipped in with six points, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Ellie Butler led Livingston Academy with 26 points including 10 of 11 free throws, and three assists. Halle Ledbetter added nine points, 12 rebounds, two assists, four blocked shots, and three steals. Keely Mullins recorded nine points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists. Aleah Melton chipped in with eight points, five rebounds, and three steals.

Nevaeh Scott led Bartlett with 15 points. Carrington Jones added 12 points including six of six free throws, six rebounds, and four steals. Wayne County shot 40.4% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc. Savannah Davis led McKenzie with 29 points including seven three point baskets, 1 rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and two steals. Mikaela Reynolds added 18 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. Kylie Reynolds recorded 13 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and two assists. Mary Anna Chester recorded 12 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds. Natiah Nelson led Columbus Africentric with 17 points including 11 of 13 free throws, seven rebounds, three assists, four steals, and five blocked shots. Jeniya Bowers added 17 points and five rebounds. Ashtan Winfrey recorded 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Christopher coach Hayden Carter started the following lineup: 5-7 Sr. McKensie Jackson, 5-7 Sr. Emily VanHoorebeke, 6-2 Jr. Amiah Hargrove, 5-2 Sr. Tori Crain, and 5-3 Sr. Jessica Gordon. Okawville coach Haylee Bowers countered with 5-8 Jr. Alayna Kraus, 5-7 Jr. Raelyn Obermeier, 5-9 Sr. Megan Rennegarbe, 5-6 Jr. Briley Rhodes, and 5-6 Jr. Madisyn Wienstroer.

Okawville pulled away in the second half for a 56-35 victory over Christopher. Okawville shot 52.3% from the field including four of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Rockets connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and 12 points off nine Christopher turnovers. Christopher shot 36.6% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bearcats connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored five points off five Okawville turnovers.

LaGrange (Nazareth Academy) defeated Lincoln by the score of 63-52. There were four ties and three lead changes in this game. LaGrange (Nazareth Academy) shot 58.5% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line. The Road Runners connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Lincoln turnovers. Lincoln shot 47.2% from the field including five of 14 from beyond the arc. The Railsplitters connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 LaGrange (Nazareth Academy).

Olivia Austin led LaGrange (Nazareth Academy) with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. Grace Carstensen added 11 points including three three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and five steals. Mary Bridget Wilson recorded 11 points including two three point baskets and three assists. Amalia Dray chipped in with 10 points and three assists. Danielle Scully added eight points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Kloe Froebe led Lincoln with 19 points including 11 of 16 free throws, three rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Becca Heitzig added 12 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Taryn Stolzenburg recorded nine points on three three point baskets. Jenna Bowman chipped in with six points on two three point baskets and four rebounds.

Lisle (Benet Academy) coach Joel Kilbride started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Lenee Beaumont, 5-11 Jr. Emilia Sularski, 6-0 Sr. Samantha Trimberger, 5-9 Jr. Lindsay Harzich, and 5-10 Jr. Magdalena Sularski. )’Fallon (H.S.) coach Nick Knolhoff countered with 5-10 Sr. Shannon Dowell, 5-9 Sr. Jailah Pelly, 6-1 Jr. D’Myjah Bolds, 5-2 Fr. Josie Christopher, and 5-6 Sr. Malia Robertson.

O’Fallon (H.S.) defeated Lisle (Benet Academy) in double overtime by the score of 62-57. O’Fallon’s Shannon Dowell hit two free throws with 17 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 50-50. Lisle (Benet Academy) had a couple of shots for the win in the last six seconds for the win but the shots would not fall. Shannon Dowell hit a three point shot with two minutes left in the first overtime to tie the score at 54-54. Both teams had opportunities in the last two minutes but failed to score and the game went to the second overtime. O’Fallon (H.S.) finally took control in the second overtime for the win. The score was tied nine times and there were 10 lead changes in the game. O’Fallon (H.S.) shot 52.4% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line. The Panthers connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Lisle (Benet Academy) turnovers. Lisle (Benet Academy) shot 42.2% from the field including four of 17 from beyond the arc. The Red Wings connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 O’Fallon (H.S.) turnovers.

Shannon Dowell led O’Fallon (H.S.) with 25 points including 10 of 10 free throws, two rebounds, and two assists. Jailah Pelly added 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Josie Christopher recorded nine points on three three point baskets and two steals. D’Myah Bolds chipped in with nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Webb coach Matthew Shewmake started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Rhema Collins, 6-0 Jr. Bre’aria Cannon, 6-6 Sr. Aalyah Del Rosario, 5-7 Sr. Angelica Velez, and 5-10 Sr. Bree Robinson. MTCS coach Hannah Jones countered with 5-10 Fr. Ashley Rucker, 5-9 Sr. Jailyn Banks, 6-0 Fr. Anna Clay Shirley, 5-4 Sr. Autumn Davis, and 5-9 So. Claire Knight.

Webb School outscored MTCS by a combined score of 42-13 in the second and third quarters on their way to a 73-43 victory. Webb shot 43.5% from the field including five of 20 from the three point line. The Feet connected on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 56 rebounds, and committed 16 turnovers. MTCS shot 18.9% from the field including four of 26 from beyond the arc. The Cougars connected on 19 of 23 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers.

Aalyah Del Rosario led Webb with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Rhema Collins added 13 points and 14 rebounds. 6-0 So. Daria Biriuk recorded 11 points including three three point baskets. Bree Robinson chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Angelica Velez added six points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.

Jailyn Banks led MTCS with 13 points including nine of 10 free throws, six rebounds, and two steals. Anna Clay Shirley added eight points including two three point baskets and four rebounds. The Fighting Irish connected on 19 of 32 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored seven points off seven Ensworth turnovers. Brandon Gatewood hit a reverse layup with approximately eight seconds left in the game to give Jeffersontown a 55-54 victory over DeSales. DeSales had one last opportunity but Crew Gibson hit a mid-range jump shot at the buzzer. DeSales shot 53.8% from the field including four of 10 from the three point line. The Colts connected on eight of 16 free throws and pulled down 21 rebounds.

Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-5 Fr. Jayden Johnson, 6-3 Jr. Drae Vasser, 6-4 Jr. Alex Johnson, 6-2 Sr. CJ Walls, and 6-2 Sr. Cam McClain.

Male defeated Trinity 67-65 in two overtimes. Jack Edelen’s three point basket with 21 seconds left on the clock proved to be the winning basket. Trinity had one last opportunity but Drae Vasser missed a running hook shot in the lane. This was a game of thrills as Trinity’s CJ Walls hit a three pointer with 47 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 51-51. Cole Edelen missed a potential game winner at the buzzer for Male and the game went to overtime. Drae Vasser hit a three point basket with two seconds remaining to tie the score at 60-60 and force the second overtime. Male shot 46.9% from the field including 10 of 23 from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on 11 of 15 free throws and pulled down 27 rebounds. Trinity shot 44,6% from the field including nine of 22 from beyond the arc. The Shamrocks connected on six of eight free throws and pulled down 31 rebounds.

Jack Edelen led Male with 24 points including four three point baskets. Cole Edelen added 14 points including four three point baskets. Jayson Gasaway recorded 13 points including six of eight free throws and pulled down eight rebounds. Meechie White added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Warren Central raced out to a 29-15 lead early in the third quarter but had to survive a furious Bowling Green rally to earn a 52-50 overtime victory. Bowling Green had one late opportunity but Luke Idlett’s last second three point attempt hit the front rim. Warren Central shot 46.7% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line. The Dragons connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and committed seven turnovers. Bowling Green shot 40% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc. Lexington Catholic led by eight in the third quarter but Frederick Douglass rallied and Armelo Boone hit a three point basket with 13.3 seconds remaining to give the Broncos what proved to be the winning basket in a 43-41 victory. Lexington Catholic had one last chance but could not get a clear shot at the baskets and turned the ball over on a jump ball in the final second. Frederick Douglass shot 35.4% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 40.5% from the field including two of 11 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on five of seven free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored six points off six Frederick Douglass turnovers.

Frederick Douglass coach Daryl Moberly started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Jermyra Christian, 5-9 So. Amayah Maxwell, 6-2 Jr. Ayanna-Sarai Darrington, 5-4 So. Kate Baker, and 5-7 So. Niah Rhodes. Lexington Catholic coach Lee Tegt countered with 5-10 Sr. Katherine Truitt, 5-7 Sr. Lucy Nash, 5-9 Jr. Lydia Kennedy, 5-4 Sr. Mary Martin Hampton, and 5-4 Jr. Sydney Elbert.

Frederick Douglass defeated Lexington Catholic by the score of 66-51. Frederick Douglass shot 34.5% from the field including three of 18 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on 25 of 35 free throws, pulled down 55 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 27.1% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Knights connected on 17 of 28 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 25 Frederick Douglass turnovers. (Lucy Nash, Lydia Kennedy, and Mary Martin Hampton all fouled out).

Ayanna-Sarai Darrington led Frederick Douglass with 27 points, 29 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Niah Rhodes added 13 points including three three point baskets and four of four free throws. Jermyra Christian recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, two blocks, and two steals. 5-8 Jr. Victory Sledge chipped in with seven points and four rebounds. Kate Baker recorded five points, three rebounds, and four assists.

Katherine Truitt led Lexington Catholic with 23 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and six steals. Lucy Nash added nine points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and three steals. Mary Martin Hampton recorded six points, six rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Lydia Kennedy chipped in with six points, five rebounds, and two steals.

Mercy Academy coach Nick Cann started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Emma Barnett, 5-10 Sr. Mary Smith, 6-2 So. Leah Macy, 5-5 So. Alyssa Murphy, and 5-7 So. Addison Becker. Bullitt East coach Chris Stallings countered with 5-10 Jr. Anna Rodgers, 5-7 Sr. Logan Ortega, 5-10 So. Madeline Curtsinger, 5-6 So. Carli Bryant, and 5-8 Sr. Lilly Reid.

Mercy Academy defeated Bullitt East 54-51 in overtime. Bullitt East trailed by 12 in the first half but outscored Mercy Academy 22-12 in the final quarter to force overtime. There were three lead changes and three ties in this game. Mercy Academy shot 22.4% from the field including two of 15 from the three point line. The Jaguars connected on 30 of 43 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Bullitt East turnovers. Bullitt East shot 35.3% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc. The Lady Chargers connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored six points off 10 Mercy Academy turnovers.

Leah Macy led Mercy Academy with 24 points including 18 of 22 free throws, 22 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Mary Smith added 13 points including six of six free throws. Emma Barnett recorded nine points, five rebounds, and four blocked shots. Addison Becker chipped in with four points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Alyssa Murphy added four points and five rebounds.

Lilly Reid led Bullitt East with 20 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and three assists. Madeline Curtsinger added 11 points and eight rebounds. 5-5 Fr. Mollie Johnston added eight points and two rebounds. Logan Ortega recorded seven points, three rebounds, and three assists. Anna Rodgers chipped in with five points, six rebounds, and four assists.
