Southwestern dominated the action tonight on a rainy night on a muddy field and defeated Madison Central by the score of 26-0.  Southwestern scored in the closing seconds of the second quarter to take a 7-0 lead at halftime and dominated the second half to earn a convincing victory.  Madison Central was unable to mount any offense tonight as Southwestern dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and QB Collin Burton flawlessly executed the effective Southwestern offense which ran several plays in the second half from an inverted wishbone formation.  Southwestern passes sparingly but are very effective when they do go through the air and has a deep stable of running backs to keep fresh legs in the game.  Southwestern recorded 17 first downs and 291 yards of total offense.  The Warriors were penalized six times for 79 yards.  Madison Central recorded seven first downs and 92 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized five times for 36 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Giddeon Brainard led Southwestern’s ground game with 74 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.  Tanner Wright carried the ball 16 times for 63 yards and a touchdown.  Christian Walden recorded 34 yards on six carries.  Collin Burton completed five of seven passes for 52 yards and a touchdown.  Mason Hibbard caught two passes for 37 yards and a touchdown.  Dylan Bland returned one punt for 13 yards and Connor Crisp returned one kickoff for 20 yards.  Giddeon Brainard led the defense with three solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  John Poe added two solo and three assisted tackles.  Ezra Major recorded four solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  Connor Crisp chipped in with two solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss and intercepted a pass he returned 10 yards.

Brady Hensley led Madison Central’s ground game with 32 yards on 11 carries.  Hagan Harrison completed five of 11 passes for 42 yards with one interception.  Cooper Mullins caught three passes for 23 yards.  Travis Grant added one reception for 22 yards.  Hayden Kiser led the defense with six solo and five assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting ina two yard loss.  Brock Eads added four solo and five assisted tackles.  Kyran Jackson recorded four solo and four assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a 10 yard loss.
