Madison Central defeated Boyle County by the score of 45-13.  Madison Central shot 47.2% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 33 points off 27 Boyle County turnovers.  Boyle County shot 16.7% from the field including one of six from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored five points off 19 Madison Central turnovers.

Kendall Clines led Madison Central with 10 points and five rebounds.  Brittany Campbell added nine points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  Eden Carter recorded eight points, three assists, and three steals.  Lina Guerra chipped in with seven points including three of three free throws and three steals.  Brooke Campbell added six points on two three point baskets, two assists, and two steals.

Madison Central outscored Lexington Catholic 26-3 in the second quarter on their way to a 56-26 victory.  Madison Central’s tenacious defense forced 34 points which they converted to 31 points and recorded 24 steals.  Madison Central shot 48.7% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 14 of 30 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and held a 22-7 advantage in bench scoring.  Lexington Catholic shot 27.6% from the field including zero of five from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on eight of 23 free throws, pulled own 34 rebounds, and scored seven points off 18 Madison Central turnovers.

Madison Central was led tonight by the “Fire” and “Ice” sister combo of Shelby and Bailey Hensley.  Shelby had not played this year due to an injury but led Madison Central tonight with nine points, six rebounds, and a steal in only 10 minutes before unfortunately leaving the game with an injury which would ultimately end her season.  Bailey Hensley  added 11 points and two steals.  Brittany Campbell recorded eight points, , three rebounds, and three steals.  Tiana Long chipped in with eight points, three assists, and two steals.  Eden Carter added seven points, three rebounds, and five steals.  Brooke Campbell recorded six points on two long range bombs, pulled down three rebounds, dished out three assists, and recorded six steals.

Dismal shooting (18.6% from the field and 40% from the free throw line) doomed Madison Central tonight as they dropped a 34-24 decision to Madison Southern.  Madison Southern shot 32.3% from the field including one of eight from the three point line.  They connected on 13 of 25 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 18.6% from the field including four of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on four of 10 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored nine points off 15 Madison Southern turnovers.

Madison Central’ defense recorded 28 steals and scored 41 points off the miscues in a 64-34 victory over Menifee County.  Madison Central held a 46-14 on points in the paint and a 36-4 advantage in bench scoring.  13 players saw action today for Madison Central with 10 getting into the scoring column.  Madison Central shot 39.1% from the field including three of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians held a 69-25 advantage in attempted field goals.  They connected on seven of 18 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds and recorded a 16-2 margin in second chance points.

This has been a long and challenging year for me on a personal level.  I have had my website for over 20 years and I plod along as a one man show (with my wife who maintains technical support and actually posts everything on the main page, I do the blogs) and cover high school basketball, football, EKU basketball and football.  I was able to maintain my schedule despite COVID because we provide computer statistics for several teams.  I had an incident during tournament time that slowed me down for a couple weeks.

I discovered that during a routine physical by my primary care provider that I had developed AFIB, an irregular heart rhythm.  I had no previous warnings and was walking 15-20 miles per week as a person in their mid 70’s which I felt good about.  My doctor referred me to a cardiologist who ran a sonogram and a chemical induced stress test.  Nothing concrete so he recommended a hear catherization to track down the problem.  Early April I went in for this procedure they discovered major problems and had to insert an emergency stent and immediately transferred me to the main hospital by ambulance.  The next day I had a double bypass surgery and the one stent and they restarted my heart to get it back in rhythm which may or may not be a permanent solution.  The doctors were all very happy with the results and released me in the care of my wife who has subjected me to disgustingly health food.  My weight is at 185 pounds and my recovery is well ahead of schedule.

I intend to continue my website and while I am current on my blogs I still have to update the other sections which include tournaments, games, and invitationals.  I will keep Rick Bolus rankings current and hope to do a podcast next season.. I have a slight break before I dive into summer ball so over the next two weeks I intend to blog the girls Madison Central JV season.  They had a very good season coached by Ashley Snow and had 10-12 girls playing with several of their key players being 8^th graders.  Their future is bright if they continue to improve.  I feel fortunate that I survived this and am thankful for another chance and also feel fortunate I live in a basketball crazy state with all the passionate fans and parents.

Carmel defeated Lawrence North 51-46 in overtime.  The score was tied seven times and there were five ties in the game.  Carmel shot 39.4% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Greyhounds connected on 20 of 25 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Lawrence North turnovers.  Lawrence North shot 41.3% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Wildcats connected on six of 17 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Carmel turnovers.

Brian Waddell led Carmel with 20 points including two three point baskets, eight of eight free throws, and 10 rebounds.  Josh Whack added 11 points including seven of eight free throws, five rebounds, and three assists.  Connor Gioia recorded nine points on three three point baskets and two assists.  Peter Suder chipped in with six points and six rebounds.  Charlie Williams recorded five points, four rebounds, and three blocked shots.

CJ Gunn led Lawrence North with 18 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, and four rebounds.  DJ Hughes added 12 points, four rebounds, two steals, and three blocked shots.  Donaven McCulley recorded 11 points and three rebounds.

Silver Creek held on in the final seconds to defeat Leo by the score of 50-49.  The score was tied nine times and there were three lead changes in this game.  Silver Creek shot 34.6% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on nine of 17 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Leo turnovers.  Leo shot 30% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Lions connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 14 points off nine Silver Creek turnovers.
