Covington Catholic trailed 17-9 at halftime but rallied in the second half to earn a 19-17 victory over Beechwood.  It took some big plays from Covington Catholic QB Caleb Jacob to put the Colonels in position for Trey Gronette’s 33 yard field goal with 5:34 remaining in the game to give Covington Catholic a 19-17 lead.  Jacob hit Ethan Reardon on a 41 yard pass play on a second and 23 play and later ran for 10 yards on a third and eight to keep what proved to be the winning drive alive.  Covington Catholic recorded 15 first downs and 254 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized nine times for 100 yards and had one pass intercepted.  Beechwood recorded 12 first downs and 256 yards of total offense.  The Tigers were penalized five times for 50 yards and lost a fumble.

Owen Nally led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 60 yards on 14 carries.  Caleb Jacob carried the ball 16 times for 56 yards.  Sam France carried the ball twice for seven yards and a touchdown.  Caleb Jacob completed eight of 19 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Ethan Reardon caught two passes for 44 yards.  Owen Nally added two receptions for 19 yards.  Ezzy Shields recorded one reception for 23 yards and a touchdown.  Dallas Wirth returned three kickoffs for 44 yards. Ben Dickhaus led the defense with five solo tackles and recorded a safety.  Aiden Jones added three solo and one assisted tackles and Sam France recorded three solo tackles. 

Cole Stammer led Beechwood’s ground game with 43 yards on two carries.  Cameron Hergot carried the ball 12 times for 14 yards and two touchdowns.  Cameron Hergot completed 13 of 19 passes for 194 yards.  Brady Moore caught five passes for 104 yards.  Micha Hatfield added two receptions for 43 yards.  Hogan Stephenson returned one kickoff for 18 yards.  Luke Slusher led the defense with seven solo tackles.  Arti Steinmetz and Mica Hatfield each recorded five solo and one assisted tackles.  Zachar Ranshaw intercepted a pass he returned for 14 yards.

Madison Central dominated on defense tonight on their way to a 21-0 shut out of Lafayette.  Madison Central recorded 12 first downs and 200 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized seven times for 58 yards, lost three fumbles, and had one pass intercepted.  Lafayette recorded eight first downs and 100 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized seven times for 60 yards and lost a fumble.

Blake Snyder led Madison Central’s ground game with 100 yards on 13 carries.  Adrien Parks carried the ball seven times for 49 yards.  Kenyatta Hardge made his debut tonight and carried the ball 11 times for 28 yards and two touchdowns.  Canon Scenters completed five of 11 passes for 43 yards with one interception.  Joseph Burton caught three passes for 21 yards.  Jayden West added one reception for 18 yards.  Jayden West returned four punts for 66 yards with a long return of 26 yards.  Kenyatta Hardge returned one kickoff for 38 yards.  Edgren Sweat led the defense with six solo and two assisted tackles with four of his tackles resulting in losses 23 yards.  Noah Shipley added four solo and four assisted tackles with 4.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 19 yards.  Anthony McLaughlin recorded one solo and six assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.

Noah Chapman led Lafayette’s ground game with six yards on three carries.  Tanner Pace completed five of 14 passes for 96 yards.  Stephen Dawahare completed three of nine passes for 50 yards.  Darreon Stewart caught three passes for 58 yards.  Lucas Doneghy added two receptions for 28 yards.  Thomas Moore caught one pass for 40 yards.  Warren Wilson returned two kickoffs for 53 yards.  Jeawon Kendrick returned one kickoff for 31 yards.  Jack Harris led the defense with two solo and five assisted tackles.  Michael Taylor added three solo and three assisted tackles.  Torri Turner recorded two solo and three assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 13 yards.  Donovan Jackson added four solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 10 yards and recovered a fumble.

Paul Laurence Dunbar scored five touchdowns on plays of over 50 yards in a 49-10 victory over West Jessamine.  Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded nine first downs and 379 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized eight times for 86 yards.  West Jessamine recorded nine first downs and 284 yards of total offense.  The Colts were penalized three times for 19 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Cyreis Bright led Dunbar’s ground game with 74 yards and a touchdown on three carries.  Kamarion Robinson carried the ball seven times for 67 yards and one touchdown.  Oumar Toure added 22 yards and a touchdown on four carries.  Jake Smith completed six of 11 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns.  Howard Jackson caught two passes for 42 yards.  Frank Illunga caught an 87 yard touchdown pass and Andrew Jones caught two passes for 29 yards and a touchdown.  Frank Illunga returned two kickoffs for 107 yards including a 90 yard return for a touchdown.  John Law led the defense with two solo and seven assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  Cyreis Bright and Rayyan Igbal each recorded four solo and one assisted tackles.  Andrew Jones added three solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards and intercepted a pass he returned 55 yards for a touchdown.  Frank Illunga also intercepted a pass and Weston Holloman recovered a fumble.

Jackson Green led West Jessamine’s ground game with 21 yards and a touchdown on five carries.  Jveontae Emerson carried the ball seven times for 21 yards.  Haden Rowland carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards.  Jacob Jones completed 17 of 25 passes for 215 yards with two interceptions.  Jackson Green caught 11 passes for 135 yards.  Dalton Carter added four receptions for 71 yards.  H. Chastain led the defense with four solo tackles.  Ian Fain added three solo tackles.

Scott County defeated cross town rival Great Crossing by the score of 49-18.  Scott County recorded 31 first downs and 517 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized 16 times for 172 yards.  Great Crossing recorded 18 first downs and 324 yards of total offense.  The Warhawks were penalized six times for 53 yards and had one pass intercepted.

Montago Jones led Scott County’s ground game with 219 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries.  Jeremy Hamilton carried the ball 13 times for 96 yards.  Campton Martin recorded 83 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries.  Jaxson Saylor chipped in with 42 yards on eight carries.  Zane Patton completed seven of nine passes for 80 yards and one touchdown.  Paul Garner caught four passes for 45yards.  Kam Lay added two receptions for 28 yards and one touchdown.  AJ Young returned one punt for 27 yards.  Campton Martin returned two kickoffs for 47 yards.  AJ Young led the defense with six solo and three assisted tackles.  Kevin Herbert added five solo and three assisted tackles.  Campton Martin recorded four solo and one assisted tackles and intercepted a pass.

Peyton Harris led Great Crossing’s ground game with 60 yards on five carries.  Kaspen Colbert carried the ball 16 times for 56 yards and a touchdown.  Kalib Perry added 44 yards on seven carries.  Jake Broughton chipped in with 24 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.  Jake Broughton completed 10 of 22 passes for 120 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Jacob Coulter caught five passes for 88 yards and a touchdown.  Kalib Perry added four receptions for 26 yards.  Drake Byrd returned three kickoffs for 80 yards with a long return of 49 yards.  Kalib Perry led the defense with 11 solo and 13 assisted tackles.  Cayden Allen added six solo and three assisted tackles.  Caleb Wittry recorded three solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.

The latest chapter of the game that has become known as “Holy War” between Lexington Christian Academy and Lexington Catholic resulted in Lexington Christian defeating Lexington Catholic 23-20 on a 37 yard field goal by Andrew Dobbs as time expired.  Lexington Catholic took a 20-7 lead with 9:22 remaining in the game but two touchdown passes from Drew Nieves to Xavier Brown tied the score at 20-20 setting the stage for Dobbs’ late heroics.  Xavier Brown was unstoppable tonight for LCA as he caught nine passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns.  LCA recorded 13 first downs and 351 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized five times for 40 yards and had a pass intercepted.  Lexington Catholic recorded 11 first downs and 251 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized five times for 44 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Xavier Brown led LCA’s ground game with 33 yards on 12 carries.  Drew Nieves carried the ball nine times for 26 yards.  Jeffrey Selby added one yard and a touchdown on one carry.  Drew Nieves completed 20 of 31 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns.  Xavier Brown caught nine passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns.  Elijah Hammond added four receptions for 28 yards.  Mattie Lebryk recorded two receptions for 24 yards.  Parker Chaney and Will Vernon each returned one kickoff for 18 and 17 points respectively.  Mattie Lebryk led the defense with nine solo and one assisted tackles.  Jeffrey Selby added six solo and three assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  Chance McGaughey recorded seven solo tackles.  Tyler Morris added five solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards.  Elijah Hammond chipped in with three solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a 12 yards loss.  Parker Chaney intercepted a pass.

Darin Eldridge led Lexington Catholic’s ground game with 27 yards on aa carries.  Jack Gohmann carried the ball 13 times for 11 yards and a touchdown.  Jack Gohmann completed 19 of 32 passes for 190 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Jackson Corbett caught seven passes for 37 yards.  Blake Busson added three receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown.  Dylan Bracken recorded three receptions for 44 yards.  Jack Monday added two receptions for 42 yards.  JD Woodall returned one punt for 24 yards and three kickoffs for 60 yards.  Dylan Bracken led the defense with five solo and one assisted tackles.  Pearce Hall added four solo and one assisted tackles.  Lance Wasik recorded three solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.  Patrick Farrell added one solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling nine yards.  Jack Malley intercepted a pass he returned for 13 yards.

When you play Belfry you will face a constant ground pounding attack and nothing changed tonight as Belfry defeated Pulaski County by the score of 33-13.  Belfry had 379 yards of total offense with 367 yards coming on the ground on 48 rushing attempts.  Pulaski County recorded 138 yards on the ground and 143 yards through the air.

Isaac Dixon led Belfry’s ground game with 194 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.  Brett Coleman carried the ball 10 times for 66 yards and a touchdown.  Kyle Webb recorded 61 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.  Brett Coleman completed one of two passes for 12 yards.  Isaac Dixon caught one pass for 12 yards.  Seth Mounts led the defense with four solo and eight assisted tackles.  Brad Lowe added two solo and eight assisted tackles.  Brett Coleman recorded three solo and five assisted tackles.

Drew Polston led Pulaski County’s ground game with 110 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.  Tristan Cox added 12 yards and a touchdown on two carries.  Drew Polston completed 21 of 33 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown.  Jacob Shepherd caught four passes for 45 yards.  Barek Williams added seven receptions for 38 yards.  Chandler Godby caught three passes for 32 yards and a touchdown.  Donovan Abbott also caught seven passes for 28 yards.  Tristan Cox led the Maroons on defense with 12 solo and five assisted tackles.  Cody Nichols added two solo and seven assisted tackles.  Michael Craft recorded six solo and two assisted tackles.

Covington Catholic took a 21-0 lead at halftime but Dixie Heights scored two touchdowns in the final quarter in a Covington Catholic 21-14 victory.  Covington Catholic recorded 21 first downs and 248 yards of total offense.  They were penalized three times for 23 yards, lost two fumbles, and had two passes intercepted.  Dixie Heights recorded 14 first downs and 246 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized three times for 15 yards.

Owen Nally led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 45 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.  Caleb Jacob carried the ball six times for 27 yards and a touchdown.  Caleb Jacob completed 12 of 22 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions.  Ethan Reardon caught three passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.  Ryan Schneider added three receptions for 39 yards.  David Sullivan led the defense with eight solo and one assisted tackles.  Ryan Schneider added five solo and one assisted tackles.  Isaiah Roedig and Jackson Hodge each recorded six solo tackles.

Pierce Rohlman led Dixie Height’s ground game with 43 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.  Logan Landers completed 22 of 42 passes for 182 yards.  Devin Holbert caught eight passes for 53 yards.  Simon Sharp added three receptions for 46 yards.  Kel Hawkins recorded receptions for 26 yards.  Mark Dugan led the defense with nine solo and one assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  Colin Smith added seven solo tackles and recovered a fumble.  Kel Hawkins intercepted two passes.

West Virginia University rolled up 624 yards of total offense as the Mountaineers steam rolled Eastern Kentucky University by the score of 56-10.  West Virginia recorded 31 first downs and 624 yards of total offense.  The Mountaineers were penalized eight times for 85 yards and did not commit any turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky University recorded nine first downs and 206 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized eight times for 65 yards and had one pass intercepted.

Leddie Brown led West Virginia’s ground game with 123 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.  Alec Sinkfield carried the ball 15 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns.  Tony Mathis Jr. added 55 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries.  Jarret Doege completed 19 of 25 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns.  Sam Jones caught five passes for 72 yards and a touchdown.  B. Pikeville defeated Raceland by the score of 28-7.  This game had two lightning delays and the second half was played during a down pour.  This was Pikeville’s 15th consecutive victory but the first victory at Raceland in 64 years.  Pikeville recorded 13 first downs and 363 yards of total offense.  They were penalized eight times for 85 yards, lost one fumble, and had two passes intercepted.  Raceland recorded 13 first downs and 219 yards of total offense.  The Rams were not penalized, lost three fumbles, and had one pass intercepted.

Blake Birchfield led Pikeville’s ground game with 148 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.  Alex Rogers carried the ball five times for 28 yards.  Nate Collins added 22 yards and one touchdown on eight carries.  Isaac McNamee completed 11 of 21 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions.  Zac Lockhart caught six passes for 113 yards and one touchdown.  Blake Birchfield added two receptions for 14 yards.  Zac Lockhart returned one kickoff for 31 yards.  Carson Wright led the defense with six solo tackles.  Ricardo Perez added three solo tackles and recorded one sack.  Nate Collins added two solo tackles and recorded one sack.  Sam Wright intercepted a pass.
