Frederick Douglass scored a late touchdown (1:06 remaining in the game) and utilized a strong defense to defeat Henry Clay 14-7 and complete the sweep of their Lexington public school rivals in their first year of football.  Frederick Douglass recorded 11 first downs and 364 yards of total offense.  The Broncos were penalized six times for 71 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Henry Clay recorded five first downs and 173 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized eight times for 106 yards.

Jefferson Harkless led Douglass’ ground game with 134 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.  Montaveon Bean carried the ball 13 times for 47 yards.  Montaveon Bean completed 17 of 29 passes for 183 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Haiden Hunt caught six passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.  Dekel Crowdus added five receptions for 29 yards.  Micah Lowe caught four passes for 31 yards.  Haiden Hunt returned two punts for 54 yards with a long return of 36 yards.  Shamarr Taylor led the defense with eight solo and four assisted tackles with four of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards.  Obi Taylor added three solo and five assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling three yards.  Jaylin Bybee recorded three solo and four assisted tackles.

Tyree Clarke led Henry Clay’s ground game with 34 yards on 13 carries.  Darrin Van Horn completed seven of 14 passes for 70 yards.  Zac Berezewitz caught two passes for 25 yards.  Isaiah Adkins added two receptions for 18 yards.  Michael McMullen caught one pass for 21 yards.  John Felty led the defense with five solo and five assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  Langston Jackson added six solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards.  Ramond Jackson recorded five solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss and intercepted a pass he returned 100 yards for a touchdown.

Both teams entered tonight’s game with an 0-8 record and Bryan Station defeated Paul Laurence Dunbar 20-18 to earn their first win of the season.  Bryan Station recorded 15 firsdt downs and 204 yards of total offense.  The Defenders were penalized twice for 25 yards and lost two fumbles.  Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded 13 first downs and 178 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized four times for 23 yards and lost a fumble.

Jalen Burbage led Bryan Station’s ground game with 60 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.  Chris Jones carried the ball seven times for 37 yards.  Antoine Smith added 36 yards on seven carries.  Jalen Burbage completed seven of 12 passes for 70 yards.  Kendrick Curry caught two passes for 15 yards.  Mario Black, Chris Jones, and Terrance Clayton-Murphy each caught one pass for 17, 15, and 12 yard respectively.  Antony Cox led the defense with seven solo and 11 assisted tackles.  Bryson Fields added seven solo and three assisted tackles.  C. McKinley recorded four solo and seven assisted tackles.

Alex Bard led Paul Laurence Dunbar’s ground game with 74 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.  Jordan Fogle carried the ball 13 times for 39 yards.  Tanner Cox completed five of six passes for 32 yards.  Mitchell Joseph completed his only pass for 17 yards and a touchdown.  Darren Edmond caught four passes for 34 yards and a touchdown.  Trey Drusten returned one kickoff for 33 yards.  Jovani Russell returned one kickoff for 30 yards.  Cole Haney led the defense with four solo and two assisted tackles.  Mason Haggard, Jovani Russell, and JT Baker each recorded four solo and one assisted tackles.  Joe Walker and Shawn Kimble each recovered a fumble.

Tates Creek defeated Lafayette by a score of 21-7.  Tates Creek had problems holding on to the ball tonight and fumbled six times but fortunately only lost one of their bobbles.  Tates Creek recorded 16 first downs and 344 yards of total offense.  The Commodores were penalized five times for 51 yards and lost a fumble.  Lafayette recorded 10 first downs and 176 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized six times for 65 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Teonte White led Tates Creek’s ground game with 92 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.  Laron Warner carried the ball 19 times for 69 yards with two touchdowns.  Cameron Workman completed eight of 14 passes for 156 yards.  Jerrod Bauer caught four passes for 40 yards.  Jaden Baird added three receptions for 90 yards.  Laron Warner returned three punts for 72 yards with a long return of 52 yards.  Cam Stewart led the defense with eight solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards.  Marcus Bosley added four solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  D’Mari Byrd recorded one solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a 15 yard loss.

Cameron Morgan led Lafayette’s ground game with 107 yards on 15 carries.  Dekwan Edwards completed two of 12 passes for 11 yards.  Drake Nelson completed one of five passes for 25 yards with one interception.  M. Guilfoil caught two passes for 35 yards.  Kuantaze Cooper returned one kickoff for 39 yards.  Cameron Morgan returned four kickoffs for 99 yards with a long return of 29 yards.  Jaylen Lawson led the defense with six solo and seven assisted tackles.  Ean Shaw added six solo and five assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a seven yard loss and scored on a 25 yard fumble recovery.  Jay Brank recorded two solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in an 18 yard loss.

Madison Central defeated George Rogers Clark by a score of 34-14 but the excitement was tempered by an injury to starting QB Derrick Miller.  Dalton Combs was excellent in relief of Miller as he threw two touchdown passes.  Madison Central recorded 11 first downs and 364 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized eight times for 74 yards and lost two fumbles.  George Rogers Clark recorded eight first downs and 196 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized eight times for 48 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Antwaun Warford led Madison Central’s ground game with 50 yards on eight carries.  Freddie Chenault carried the ball 18 times for 44 yards and a touchdown.  Derrick Miller completed four of five passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns.  Dalton Combs completed three of four passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns.  Ethan Hahn caught three passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns.  Antwaun Warford added three receptions for 56 yards and two touchdowns.  Jackson Juett led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  Jesse Cox added three solo and two assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.  Denton Witt recorded two solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 11 yards.

Nitavius Thomas led GRC’s ground game with 91 yards on 18 carries.  Pierce Nisbet completed eight of 21 passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.  Farris Shakadih caught four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown.  Nick Willoughby caught a seven yard touchdown pass.  Trevon Jones returned two kickoffs for 41 yards with a long return of 24 yards.  Austin Blair led the defense with five solo and seven assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards and recovered a fumble he returned nine yards.  Marcus Wiseman added two solo and four assisted tackles.

Scott County defeated Pleasure Ridge Park by a score of 48-21.  Scott County recorded 18 first downs and 419 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized six times for 40 yards.  Pleasure Ridge Park recorded seven first downs and 252 yards of total offense.  They were penalized six times for 65 yards and had two passes intercepted.

Austin Barnett led Scott County’s ground game with 151 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries.  Brice Fryman carried the ball four times for 75 yards.  Phillip Garner added 42 yards on 12 carries.  Payton Brown carried the ball four times for 40 yards and a touchdown.  Josh Davis completed three of three passes for 94 yards and two touchdowns.  Landon Easley caught one pass for 43 yards.  Brice Fryman caught a 29 yard touchdown pass and Glen Covington added a 22 yard scoring reception.  Austin Barnett returned one punt for 19 yards and Glen Covington added a punt return for 40 yards.  Brice Fryman and Sam Sutton led the defense with three solo tackles each.  Zane Wilson added two solo tackles with one of the tackles resulting in an eight yard loss and intercepted a pass he returned for 17 yards.

DeWayne Hall led PRP’s ground game with 98 yards and a touchdown on five carries.  BJ Robinson carried the ball twice for 37 yards.  BJ Robinson completed three of eight passes for 33 yards with one interception.  Nick Elder completed three of seven passes for 81 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Shannon Bishop caught three passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.  Shannon Bishop returned four kickoffs for 162 yards including a 95 yard return for a touchdown.  B. Washington returned two kickoffs for 95 yards including a long return of 70 yards.  Dayon Pulliam led the defense with six solo tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards.  Malik Bradley and Pereon Allen added six solo tackles each.

Danville rallied from a 21-7 deficit in the second quarter to rally for a 44-28 victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  Danville recorded 17 first downs and 458 yards of total offense.  Danville was penalized six times for 45 yards.  LCA recorded 26 first downs and 444 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized eight times for 60 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Donlevy Harris led Danville’s ground game with 97 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.  Zach Thornton carried the ball seven times for 52 yards and a touchdown.  Dmauriae VanCleave recorded 37 yards on eight carries.  Zach Thornton completed 12 of 19 passes for 272 yards and four touchdowns.  Dmauriae VanCleave caught six passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns.  Jaleel Warren added four receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown.  Donlevy Harris led the defense with seven solo and four assisted tackles.  Darrian Bell added three solo and 10 assisted tackles.  Chase Tandy recorded five solo and five assisted tackles.  David Walker added six solo and two assisted tackles.

Lexington Catholic defeated Garrard County by a score of 42-24.  Lexington Catholic only ran 29 offensive plays compared to 78 for Garrard County and lost the battle of possession time 37:56 to 10:04.  However Lexington Catholic scored on plays of 62, 5, 80, 7, 6, and 58 yards while Garrard County utilized a punishing ground game in which they had 446 yards and three touchdowns on 75 carries.  Lexington Catholic recorded 15 first downs and 489 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized four times for 42 yards.  Garrard County recorded 26 first downs and 461 yards of total offense.  The Golden Lions were penalized six times for 45 yards and lost a fumble.

Dameon Jones led Lexington Catholic’s ground game with 183 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries.  Keith Brinkman carried the ball six times for 36 yards.  Beau Allen completed seven of nine passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns.  Austin Hamelback completed three of three passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.  Nathan Schnurr caught six passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns.  Carson Brownell added one reception for 62 yards and a touchdown.  Kevin Brown led the defense with 11 solo and six assisted tackles.  Henry Holthaus added nine solo and six assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a six yard loss.  Brennan Emmett recorded eight solo and four assisted tackles.

Josh Warren led Garrard County’s ground game with 351 yards and three touchdowns on 56 carries.  Connor Isaacs carried the ball five times for 37 yards.  Connor Isaacs completed one of three passes for 15 yards.  Brayden Price caught one pass for 15 yards.  Willie Rader returned four kickoffs for 72 yards with a long return of 24 yards.  Trayce Poynter and Jacob Ball led the defense with three solo tackles each.

Covington Catholic rolled up 570 yards of total offense and the defense forced four turnovers tonight as the Colonels rolled over Highlands by a score of 52-0.  Covington Catholic recorded 24 first downs and 570 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized six times for 104 yards.  Highland recorded 11 first downs and 128 yards of total offense.  The Bluebirds were penalized once for 10 yards, lost a fumble, and had three passes intercepted.

C. McGinness led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 108 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.  M. Boydston carried the ball four times for 57 yards.  AJ Mayer added 47 yards and a touchdown on five carries.  AJ Mayer completed 15 of 17 passes for 291 yards and a touchdown.  M. Pike caught four passes for 60 yards.  L. Lenihan added three receptions for 56 yards.  M. Mayer caught two passes for 47 yards.  J. Coldiron caught a 54 yard touchdown reception.  C. Jacksonville State took advantage of four Eastern Kentucky turnovers on their way to a 41-25 victory.  Jacksonville State raced out to a 31-3 halftime lead and was never seriously threatened in this game as they improved to 5-1 and 3-0 in the OVC.  Jacksonville State recorded 19 first downs and 346 yards of total offense.  The Gamecocks were penalized nine times for 72 yards.  Eastern Kentucky recorded 16 first downs and 252 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized seven times for 70 yards, lost two fumbles, and had two passes intercepted.

Bryant Horn led Jacksonville State’s ground game with 73 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.  Tramel Terry carried the ball six times for 49 yards.  Roc Thomas added 21 yards and a touchdown on four carries.  Bryant Horn completed 10 of 17 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown.  Roc Thomas caught three passes for 36 yards.  Shaq Davidson added three receptions for 31 yards.  Krenwic Sanders recorded two receptions for 46 yards.  Jamari Hester caught one pass for 31 yards and a touchdown.  De’Marc Flowers returned two kickoffs for 80 yards with a long return of 66 yards.  Krenwic Sanders returned one kickoff for 33 yards.  Marion Bridges led the defense with three solo and six assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss and intercepted a pass he returned 73 yards for a touchdown.  Darius Jackson added three solo and four assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 19 yards, forced two fumbles, and recovered one fumble.  Traco Williams recorded one solo and six assisted tackles.  Siran Neal intercepted a pass and Gerald Sterling recovered a fumble.

Jason Lewis led Eastern Kentucky’s ground game with 50 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.  Tim Boyle completed 16 of 26 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.  Ryan Markush caught four passes for 60 yards.  Daryl McCleskey added four receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown.  Neiko Creamer caught four passes for 43 yards.  Keith Wrzuszczak punted three times for a 43.7 average with a long punt of 48 yards with one punt inside the 20 yard line.  Daryl McCleskey returned three kickoffs for 102 yards with a long return of 55 yards.  LJ Scott returned four kickoffs for 150 yards with a long return of 57 yards.  Kobie Grace led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles with one tackles resulting in a three yard loss.  Jeffrey Canady added four solo and one assisted tackles.
