Marshall coach Dan D’Antoni started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Ryan Taylor, 6-4 Sr. Austin Loop, 6-9 So. Ajdin Penava, 6-3 Jr. Jon Elmore, and 6-3 Sr. Stevie Browning.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-7 Jr. Zach Charles, 6-4 Sr. Jaylen Babb-Harrison, 6-9 So. Nick Mayo, 5-11 Fr. Asante Gist, and 6-2 Sr. Isaac McGlone.

Eastern Kentucky University, fueled by Nick Mayo’s 30 points and 10 rebounds, defeated Marshall by a score of 89-80.  Easter Kentucky took a 76-60 lead with 5:21 to go in the game but Marshall launched a furious comeback and only trailed 78-75 with 2:34 remaining on the clock.  Dillon Avare nailed a three point basket from the corner to lead an 11-2 to seal the victory. 

Eastern Kentucky University shot 50.9% from the field including 11 of 28 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 22 of 33 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 16 Marshall turnovers.  Marshall shot 36.9% from the field including 12 of 36 from beyond the arc.  The Thundering Herd connected on 20 of 28 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 21 Eastern Kentucky University turnovers.

Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky University with 30 points including three three point baskets, 10 rebounds, and four assists.  Jaylen Babb-Harrison added 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Asante Gist recorded 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Isaac McGlone chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, and five assists.  Gist, McGlone, Babb-Harrison, and Avare each connected on two three point baskets. 

Ryan Taylor led Marshall with 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Jon Elmore also scored 19 points including three three point baskets, seven assists, and three steals.  6-2 Fr. Ky’re Allison recorded 14 points including four three point baskets.  Austin Loop chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.  Ajdin Penava added nine points and six rebounds.

Donnie Swiney opened the season as the new head coach at Elizabethtown with an 88-43 victory over Marion County.  Elizabethtown shot 55.2% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored seven points off 13 Marion County turnovers.  Marion County shot 28.2% from the field including eight of nine from beyond the arc.  The Maroons connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored two points off seven Elizabethtown turnovers.

5-7 Fr. Whitney Hay led Elizabethtown with 17 points including two three point baskets.  Taylor Thomas added 16 points and six rebounds.  5-9 So.Leikyn Walker chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.  Kendall Pack recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds.  Jada Stinson added nine points and five assists.  Karson Knight recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and three steals.

Madison Kellione hit a three point basket in the final seconds to give Harrison County a 50-49 come-from-behind victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  Ironically it was the only three point basket Harrison County made all night.  LCA led 27-12 in the second quarter and still maintained a 41-36 lead entering the final quarter.  The score was tied once and there were three lead changes in the game.

Harrison County shot 35.4% from the field including one of 10 from the three point line.  The Fillies connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 21 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 27.4% from the field including five of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 10 of 20 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 18 Harrison County turnovers.

Madison Kellione led Harrison County with 19 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, and five steals.  Kendall Box added seven points and four steals.

Sydney Weeks led LCA with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.  Bethany Selby added nine points and eight rebounds.  Charis Hill recorded eight points and 13 rebounds.  Grace Combs chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.
