Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus. Lexington Catholic coach Scott True countered with 5-8 So. Rachel Blake, 5-8 Sr. Octavia Wilson, 5-9 So. Caroline Lynch, 5-4 Sr. Sarah Cawood, and 5-4 So. Bailey Browning.
Lafayette defeated a cold shooting Lexington Catholic team by a score of 41-29. Lafayette shot 36.2% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lafayette held an 18-0 advantage in three point points and a 15-5 advantage in second chance points. Lexington Catholic shot 17.9% from the field including zero of six from beyond the arc. The Lady Knights connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.
Ken’yale Demus led Lafayette with 17 points including five three point baskets. Sarah Cooley added 10 points and 14 rebounds. Dee Givens chipped in with eight points and six steals. Ashanti Thomas recorded nine rebounds and five blocked shots.
Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 18 points including eight of nine free throws and five rebounds.
