George Rogers Clark coach Josh Cook countered with 6-6 So. Maddox Hager, 6-5 So. Montez Gay, 6-7 Jr. Amari Bartelson, 5-9 Jr. Malachi Ashford, and 6-1 Sr. Eli Craig.

George Rogers Clark pulled away in the second half to defeat Lexington Catholic by the score of 76-59. There were three lead changes and five ties in this game. GRC shot 58.1% from the field including 11 of 20 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic shot 43.1% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on 10 of 11 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 12 GRC turnovers.

Malachi Ashford led GRC with 22 points including three three point baskets, seven of nine free throws, three rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Montez Gay added 15 points including two three point baskets, three of three free throws, seven rebounds, and six assists. Eli Craig recorded 13 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists. Maddox Hager chipped in with 11 points and two rebounds. 5-10 Fr. Conner Morguson added nine points on three three point baskets.

Frederick Douglass defeated Scott County by the score of 105-74. Frederick Douglass shot 58.7% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 16 Scott County turnovers. Scott County shot 43.5% from the field including 10 of 29 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on 10 of 11 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Frederick Douglass turnovers.

Jaunte Jenkins led a balanced Frederick Douglass scoring attack with 16 points and four rebounds. DeMarcus Surratt added 14 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, and two assists. Aveion Chenault recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Logan Busson chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Sacred Heart Academy defeated Highlands by the score of 74-63. Sacred Heart shot 50.9% from the field including nine of 17 from the three point line. The Valkyries connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Highlands turnovers. Highlands shot 44.2% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Bluebirds connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Sacred Heart turnovers.

ZaKiyah Johnson led Sacred Heart Academy with 27 points including four three point baskets, and seven rebounds. Morgan Frey added 14 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals. Covington Catholic defeated Newport by the score of 47-43. The score was tied three times and there were three lead changes in the game. Covington Catholic shot 42.1% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 11 of 17 from the free throw line, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored nine points off nine Newport turnovers. Newport shot 30% from the field including one of 11 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Covington Catholic turnovers.

Athens McGillis led Covington Catholic with 15 points including three three point baskets, four of six free throws, two rebounds, and two assists. Cash Harney added 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Donovan Bradshaw recorded six points and eight rebounds. Nolan Ruthsatz chipped in with five points and three rebounds.

Madison Central raced out to a 29-12 first quarter lead on their way to a 78-48 victory over Ryle. Madison Central shot 53.8% from the field including 11 of 21 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 18 Ryle turnovers. Ryle shot 51.4% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc. The Lady Raiders connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 12 points off nine Madison Central turnovers.

Cameryn Ridderikhoff led Madison Central with 25 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and five steals. Nataya Strader added 24 points including five three point baskets, five of six free throws, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Brittany Campbell recorded 17 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Brooke Campbell chipped in with six points, six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.

Frederick Douglass pulled away in the closing minutes to defeat Madison Central by the score of 64-58. The score was tied 50-50 after three quarters. There were eight ties and 10 lead changes in the game. Free throw shooting and offensive boards were Madison Central’s “Achilles Heel” tonight as they were only 13 of 25 from the free throw line and had a deficit of 14-3 on the offensive rebounds. Frederick Douglass shot 44.6% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Broncos connected on 11 of 19 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 14 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 52.5% from the field including three of eight from beyond the arc. The Lady Indians connected on 13 of 25 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Frederick Douglass turnovers.

Jaelee Knowles led Frederick Douglass with 27 points including seven of 10 free throws, 14 rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals. Tamia Waide added 14 points, two rebounds, and two assists. North Laurel led 55-33 after three quarters but Madison Central’s pressure defense created some turnovers in the final quarter allowing the Lady Indians to cut the final margin down to a 65-53 victroy for North Laurel. Madison Central did not have an answer for North Laurel’s potent duo of Brooke Nichelson and Mariella Claybrook who torched the Lady Indians for a total of 49 points and 19 rebounds in their high-low offense. North Laurel shot 52.2% from the field including two of 15 from the three point line. The Lady Jaguars connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 17 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 43.9% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc. The Lady Indians connected on 13 of 17 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 20 North Laurel turnovers.

Brooke Nichelson led North Laurel with 37 points including eight of 11 free throws, seven rebounds, two assists, three blocked shots, and four steals. Mariella Claybrook added 12 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, four blocked shots, and four steals. Bella Sizemore recorded seven points, two rebounds, and five assists. Haley Combs chipped in with five points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Lafayette won a close 65-62 decision over Great Crossing on the road. There were 10 lead changes and two ties in this game. The Lady Generals connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 38.3% from the field including nine of 26 from beyond the arc. The Lady Warhawks connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Lafayette turnovers.

Anna Clay Denton led Lafayette with 19 points including five three point baskets, four of eight free throws, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Belle Combs added 17 points including five of seven free throws, seven rebounds, and four assists.
