Frederick Douglass defeated Lexington Christian Academy by a score of 40-6 in a battle between two undefeated teams.  Frederick Douglass recorded 18 first downs and 392 yards of total offense.  The Broncos were penalized 11 times for 140 yards and lost a fumble.  Lexington Christian Academy recorded 16 first downs and 270 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized five times for 30 yards, lost two fumbles, and had four passes intercepted.

Darius Neal led Frederick Douglass’ ground game with 158 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.  Samuel Cornett completed 14 of 22 passes for 211 yards and four touchdowns.  Dane Key caught five passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns.  Dekel Crowdus added four receptions for 53 yards and two touchdowns.  Cameron Dunn caught three passes for 43 yards.  Isaiah Kenney led the defense with six solo and one assisted tackles and intercepted a pass.  TJ Horton added five solo and two assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  Ty Bryant recorded four solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 23 yards.  Corey Gamble added five solo and two assisted tackles.  Caden Johnson intercepted a pass he returned 25 yards and also recovered a fumble.  Davis Joyner also intercepted a pass.

Xavier Brown led LCA’s ground game with 75 yards on 15 carries.  Drew Nieves completed 17 of 40 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown with four interceptions.  Xavier Brown caught three passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.  Elijah Hammond added three receptions for 26 yards.  Will Vernon caught four passes for 24 yards.  Andrew Dobbs punted twice for a 44.5 average.  Will Vernon returned three kickoffs for 73 yards.  Mattie Lebryk led the defense with three solo and nine assisted tackles with one tackle resulting in a loss.  Neal Dickey added four solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in loss yardage.  Jeffrey Selby also recorded four solo and four assisted tackles.

COVID-19 has made for some interesting and creative scheduling this season and kudos to the schools and coaching staffs that have put the student athletes first and in some cases sacrificed their preferred preparation time and records to make it work.  St. Xavier had prepared for three teams this week and DeSales had originally been scheduled to play Christian Academy of Louisville.  6A power St. Xavier defeated 3A power DeSales tonight by the score of 28-7.  St. Xavier was led by their young defensive stars 6-4 230 pound Soph DE Micah Carter and 6-2 206 Soph LB Jaxon Panariello.  Micah Carter got St. Xavier off to a fast start with an interception return for a touchdown.  The Tigers starting QB Giles Pooler went to the bench with a thigh bruise early in the third quarter but Jack Sivori came in and capably finished the game and added a touchdown pass.  St. Xavier recorded 10 first downs and 266 yards of total offense.  The Tigers were penalized three times for 24 yards.  DeSales recorded 14 first downs and 264 yards of total offense.  The Colts were penalized four times for 44 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.

Jack Sivori led St. Xavier’s ground game with 51 yards on six carries.  Thomas Brain carried the ball twice for 50 yards and a touchdown.  Giles Pooler completed eight of 16 passes for 87 yards and a touchdown.  Jack Sivori completed one of three passes for 55 yards and a touchdown.  Mekhi Smith caught three passes for 72 yards with two touchdowns.  Mike Duddy added three receptions for 50 yards.  Bennett Boehnle punted four times for a 43.0 average with a long punt of 54 yards.  Jaxon Panariello led the defense with five solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses.  Ben Green added two solo and five assisted tackles.  Micah Carter recorded three solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses.  Carter also scored on an interception return.  Eli Monks and Luke Saner each recovered a fumble.

James Johnson led DeSales’ ground game with 129 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.  Jayden Scroggin completed 11 of 19 passes for 127 yards with one interception.  Caleb Winebrenner caught three passes for 42 yards.  Zach Locke added three receptions for 32 yards.  Zane Wilkerson caught two passes for 34 yards.  Lance Weiter returned three kickoffs for 52 yards with a long return of 25 yards.  Derek Hollenkamp led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles with one of his tackles recording in loss yardage.  Zane Wilkerson added five solo and three assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  Trevon Williams recorded four solo and two assisted tackles.

The score was tied 14-14 after three quarters but Dixie Heights scored 14 unanswered points in the final quarter to earn a 28-14 victory over Simon Kenton.  Dixie Heights recorded 23 first downs and 383 yards of total offense.  They were penalized eight times for 60 yards and lost a fumble.  Simon Kenton recorded 22 first downs and 362 yards of total offense.  The Pioneers were penalized once for five yards and had three passes intercepted.

Pierce Rohlman led Dixie Heights ground game with 108 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries.  Logan Landers carried the ball 16 times for 55 yards and a touchdown.  Logan Landers completed 12 of 18 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown.  Devin Holbert caught eight passes for 125 yards and a touchdown.  Alex Kautz added one reception for 27 yards.  Austin O’Brien intercepted two passes and Simon Sharpe intercepted one pass.

Jayden Lawson led Simon Kenton’s ground game with 180 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.  Chase Crone carried the ball 23 times for 92 yards and a touchdown.  Chase Crone completed 10 of 20 passes for 90 yards with three interceptions.  Zeb Sand caught six passes for 42 yards.  Caleb Livers added three receptions for 44 yards.  Nate Walker led the defense with 12 solo and one assisted tackles.  Josh Bowling recorded seven solo and three assisted tackles.  Matt Link recovered a fumble.

Holy Cross defeated Bethlehem 54-43 in an offensive shootout.  Holy Cross recorded 26 first downs and 522 yards of total offense.  The Crusaders were penalized eight times for 75 yards.  Bethlehem recorded 14 first downs and 433 yards of total offense.  The Banshees were penalized eight times for 90 yards.

Lex Thomas led Holy Cross’ ground game with 212 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries.  Chaz Geraghty carried the ball 1 times for 90 yards and three touchdowns.  Chaz Geraghty completed 12 of 18 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown.  Garrett Thornsberry caught six passes for 114 yards.  Tate Gaw added three receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.  Lex Thomas caught two passes for 37 yards.  Zachary Thompson led the defense with six solo tackles with two of his tackles for losses.  Garrett Thornsberry also recorded six solo tackles.  Nick Meiman recorded four solo tackles with all his tackles resulting in losses.

Ladarion Montgomery led Bethlehem’s ground game with 146 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.  Cooper Stone completed 12 of 23 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns.  Ladarion Montgomery caught five passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns.  Xavier Cheek added four receptions for 46 yards.  Hayden Osbourne recorded three receptions for 44 yards.  Zane Wickliffe returned two kickoffs for 101 yards including an 86 yard return for a touchdown.  Zane Wickliffe returned two punts for 29 yards.

Henry Clay defeated Lafayette tonight by a score of 7-0.  Lafayette falls to 0-3 this season and remains scoreless so far.  Henry Clay recorded 17 first downs and 251 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized four times for 36 yards, lost three fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.  Lafayette recorded four first downs and 43 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized nine times for 86 yards and had two passes intercepted.

William Webb led Henry Clay’s ground game with 108 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.  Tarryon Newcomb added 41 yards on five carries.  Christian Barrentine completed four of 12 passes for 39 yards.  Blake VanHorn completed one of nine passes for eight yards with one interception.  Landon Barrentine caught two passes for 30 yards.  William Webb led the defense with six solo tackles.  Travis Haskins added four solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling nine yards.  Christian Ponce recorded one solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards.  Andrew Asalon intercepted a pass he returned for 22 yards.  Darik Holman also intercepted a pass.

Noah Chapman led Lafayette’s ground game with 29 yards on three carries.  Tanner Pace completed three of 15 passes for 24 yards with two interceptions.  Hayden Dawahare completed one of four passes for 10 yards.  Johnathan Brooks and Thomas Moore each caught one pass for 11 and 10 yards respectively.  JaeWON Kendrick returned one kickoff for 23 yards.  Mike Taylor led the defense with four solo and five assisted tackles.  Jack Harris added five solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss.  Bond Jacobs recorded four solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a seven yard loss.  Donovan Jackson added three solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss.  Will Brown, Braden Kettenring, and Noah Chapman each recovered a fumble and Ta Sanders intercepted a pass.

Madison Central dropped their third straight game, this time by the score of 23-10 to Oldham County.  Madison Central was not able to generate enough offense or convert on third down to give their defense any rest tonight.  Oldham County QB Sam Young masterfully directed his offense throwing for three touchdowns and running for 52 yards.  Oldham County recorded 15 first downs and 303 yards of total offense.  They were penalized five times for 52 yards.  Madison Central recorded 11 first downs and 181 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized four times for 28 yards, lost a fumble, and had one pass intercepted.

Sam Young led Oldham County’s ground game with 52 yards on 12 carries.  Tate Crowell added 46 yards on 17 carries.  Sam Young completed 14 of 24 passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns.  Grayson Huff caught five passes for 62 yards and one touchdown.  Jaxon Elkins added three receptions for 41 yards and two touchdowns.  Ethan Elkins recorded two receptions for 33 yards.  Jaylin McRoberts returned two kickoffs for 39 yards with a long return of 24 yards.  Jalen Stratton led the defense with three solo and four assisted tackles.  Dustin Keown added five solo and one assisted tackles with one of his losses totaling two yards and recovered a fumble.  Thomas Dempley recorded two solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a five yard loss and intercepted a pass.

Nathan Storie led Madison Central’s ground game with 59 yards on eight carries.  Nathan Storie completed seven of 11 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown with one interception.  Canon Scenters was zero for six in passes attempted.  John Landsaw caught two passes for 40 yards.  Zach Holbrook added two receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown.  Elijah Carter had an excellent game on the defensive line and led the defense with nine solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a one yard loss.  Edgren Sweat added three solo and eight assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling nine yards.  Noah Shipley recorded one solo and six assisted tackles.

Scott County improves to 5-0 with a 62-14 victory over Grant County.  Scott County recorded 20 first downs and 427 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized seven times for 40 yards and lost a fumble.  Grant County recorded 14 first downs and 357 yards of total offense.  They were penalized four times for 30 yards and had two passes intercepted.

Campton Martin led the Scott County ground game with 83 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.  Luke Colvin carried the ball eight times for 66 yards and a touchdown.  Zane Patton recorded 44 yards on two carries.  Jackson Albensi chipped in with 42 yards and one touchdown on three carries.  Jeremy Hamilton carried the ball three times for 30 yards and two touchdowns.  Hayden Jones carried the ball six times for 28 yards and a touchdown.  Zane Patton completed three of six passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.  Paul Garner caught two passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.  Elijah Adams and Waylon Way led the defense as each recorded four solo and four assisted tackles.  Cayden Marshall added four solo and two assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling nine yards.  Jeremy Hamilton recorded three solo and four assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss and intercepted a pass he returned 44 yards for a touchdown.  AJ Young intercepted a pass he returned 17 yards.

Logan Sutherland led Grant County’s ground game with 180 yards on 35 carries.  Connor Knipp scored two touchdowns on one yard runs.  Connor Knipp completed five of 20 passes for 128 yards with two interceptions.  Carson Bick caught one pass for 51 yards.  Nikolas Dionne added one reception for 50 yards.  Chandler Haney returned four kickoffs for 60 yards with a long return of 32 yards.  Colby Faulkner led the defense with four solo and one assisted tackles.  Carson Bick added three solo and one assisted tackles.

Boyle County dominated play tonight in a 40-0 victory over Lexington Catholic.  One of the key statistics tonight was Lexington Catholic was 0-3 in red zone opportunities while Boyle County was 6-7.  Lexington Catholic also was plagued by turnovers as they had three interceptions that stalled drives.  Boyle County recorded 19 first downs and 334 yards of total offense.  The Rebels were penalized four times for 35 yards, and lost a fumble.  Lexington Catholic recorded four first downs and 155 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized eight times for 139 yards, and had three passes intercepted.

Will McDaniel led the Boyle County ground game with 119 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.  Jagger Gillis carried the ball 15 times for 66 yards and three touchdowns.  Jagger Gillis completed 12 of 23 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown.  Cole Lanter caught six passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.  Eli Glasscock added three receptions for 33 yards.  Luke Sheperson caught two passes for 34 yards.  Jackson Smith punted twice for a 53.5 average with a long kick of 65 yards with one punt inside the 20 yard line.  Cole Lanter returned three punts for 29 yards.  Luke Sheperson returned one kickoff for 23 yards.  Coleman Clark led the defense with eight solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards.  Luke Sheperson added four solo tackles.  Dalton Stone added three solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 40 yards.  Cash Logan intercepted two passes with return yardage of 26 yards.

Jack Gohmann led Lexington Catholic’s ground game with 54 yards on six carries.  Jack Gohmann completed 13 of 32 passes for 98 yards with three interceptions.  Jackson Corbett caught four passes for 23 yards.  Blake Busson added three receptions for 41 yards.  JD Woodall returned two kickoffs for 107 yards including an 83 yard return.  Jackson Corbett returned three kickoffs for 45 yards including a return of 23 yards.  Jack Malley led the defense with six solo and four assisted tackles.  Jack Powell added seven solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss.  Pearce Hall recorded three solo and five assisted tackles.  Jack Simms added four solo and two assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.
