Sayre coach Rob Goodman started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Henry Wolf, 6-3 Sr. Martin Durmov, 6-6 Jr. Quinn Pergande, 6-0 So. Alex Webb, and 6-2 Sr. Justin Sanders.  Frankfort coach Nick Barton countered with 6-1 Jr. Travis Skelton, 5-10 So. Matthew Smith, 6-4 Jr. Jeff Quire, 5-8 Jr. Jalen Washington, and 5-10 Sr. Trey Winkfield.

Sayre pulled away in the second half to defeat Frankfort by a score of 57-45.  There were four lead changes and five ties in the game.  Sayre shot 57.6% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Spartans connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Frankfort turnovers.  Frankfort shot 25.8% from the field including two of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 25 Sayre turnovers.

Justin Sanders had a sensational night for Sayre as he recorded 40 points including three three point baskets and 11 of 14 free throws, and pulled down 14 rebounds.  Quinn Pergande pulled down seven rebounds.

Jalen Washington led Frankfort with 20 points.  Travis Skelton added 10 points.  Jeff Quire and 6-3 So. Anthony Robinson pulled down nine and seven rebounds respectively.

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Tereka Guyn, 5-7 Fr. Lauren Boehm, 6-0 Sr. Iman Guy, 5-6 Sr. Rachel Young, and 5-6 Sr. Audriana Christopher.  Sayre coach Scott Sutton countered with 5-7 Fr. Sydney Strup, 5-7 Sr. Molly Manella, 6-3 Jr. Gabby Bowie,5-2 So. Hannah Brady, and 5-7 Sr. Grace Rahman.

Scott County led 24-21 at halftime but pulled away in the second half for a 62-38 victory over Sayre.  Scott County shot 38.6% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 28 Sayre turnovers.  Sayre shot 28.9% from the field including two of five from beyond the arc.  The Lady Spartans connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 19 Scott County turnovers.

5-4 Fr. Brittney Ward led Scott County with 19 points including five three point baskets.  Tereka Guyn added 17 points and seven rebounds.  Audriana Christopher recorded 16 points.  Lauren Boehm chipped in with six points and nine rebounds.

Molly Manella led Sayre with 19 points and six rebounds.  Sydney Strup added six points and nine rebounds.  Gabby Bowie pulled down seven rebounds.

The stars came out to play today.  Four of the best girl players in the state were on the floor today for this game.  5-10 Sr. Eriel McKee and 5-11 Sr. Makenzie Cann of Anderson County and 6-1 Sr. Ivy Brown and 5-10 Jr. Alexis Brewer of LaRue County.  Anderson County won this game by a score of 69-51 as they unleashed a three point barrage to defeat the Lady Hawks.  Anderson County held a 33-9 advantage in three point points and actually out rebounded the taller LaRue County team by a 31-26 margin.

Anderson County shot 44% from the field including 11 of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bearcats connected on 13 of 20 free throws, and pulled down 31 rebounds.  LaRue County shot 42.1% from the field including three of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Hawks connected on 16 of 26 free throws and pulled down 26 rebounds.

5-10 Sr. Eriel McKee led Anderson County with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  5-8 So. Kaci Currens added 16 points including five three point baskets.  5-11 Sr. Makenzie Cann chipped in with 13 points and 5-2 Jr. Corrin Robinson recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.

5-10 Jr. Alexis Brewer led LaRue County with 24 points.  6-1 Sr. Ivy Brown added 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The weather outside may have been cold but the Corbin Lady Redhounds and the Bell County Lady Cats supplied the heat with a barrage of baskets as Bell County pulled out a 83-82 victory over Corbin in a battle of 13th region powers.  Bell County utilized their defensive pressure to open up a 28-18 lead after the first quarter.  Corbin settled down in the second quarter and took advantage of Bell County star Maci Morris’ foul woes and closed the gap to 45-40 at halftime.  Morris returned in the third quarter and Bell County actually took a 21 point lead and led 66-50 after three quarters.  Corbin refused to fold and fought back in the last quarter outscoring the Lady Cats 32-17 coming up one point short as Bell County escaped with a hard earned victory.

6-0 Jr. Maci Morris came up big tonight with 39 points including 14 of 15 free throws and pulled down 12 rebounds.  5-4 Jr. Jessica Sanders added 18 points.  5-4 Sr. Morgan Garnett chipped in with 11 points.

5-6 Sr. Miranda Wilson led five Corbin Lady Redhounds in double figures with 17 points.  5-8 Sr. Sarah Ashley added 14 points.  5-8 Sr. Kayla Wilson. 5-7 So. Jaclyn Jewell,and 5-6 So. Melanie Wilson recorded 12, 12, and 10 points respectively.

Mark the calendar on February 1st as Bell County is scheduled to return to Corbin for a re-match

Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Jr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Jr. Reese Ryan, 6-7 Sr. Robert Dence, 5-10 Jr. Michael Talbott, and 6-2 Jr. Jarod Griffin.  Cordia coach Rodrick Rhodes countered with 6-8 Sr. Fritz Lucien, 6-2 Sr. Anthony Tagaloa, 7-0 8th grader Oumar Keita, 5-10 Fr. Austin Combs, and 6-2 Sr. Christen Cunningham.

Cordia captured a hard fought 74-71 overtime victory over Lexington Catholic in a game in which both teams combined for 94 free throw attempts.  Reese Ryan, Jarod Griffin, Donovan Morris, and Walker Boothe fouled out for Lexington Catholic while Anthony Tagaloa, JJ Catchings, Felix Frimpong, and Ajenee Chisolm all fouled out for Cordia.  There were nine lead changes and eight ties in the game.

Cordia shot 32.7% from the field including six of 31 from the three point line.  The Lions connected on 32 of 48 free throws including five of six in overtime, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 36.2% from the field including eight of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 29 of 46 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored eight points off 16 Cordia turnovers.

Christen Cunningham led Cordia with 23 points including 16 of 23 free throws and dished out four assists.  Fritz Lucien added 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Anthony Tagaloa chipped in with 12 points and 6-3 Sr. JJ Catchings chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets.  Oumar Keita pulled down 12 rebounds.

Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 21 points including four three point baskets and pulled down 12 rebounds.  Michael Talbott added 14 points and eight assists.  5-9 So. Donovan Morris chipped in with 11 points.

Abby Vicars, and 5-5 8th grade Julia Smith.

Sayre took advantage of Model’s ice cold shooting (1-23) in the first half to take a 29-8 lead on their way to a 58-24 victory today.  Sayre shot 42.9% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Spartans connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 15 Model turnovers.  Model shot 17.1% from the field including two of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on eight of 16 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored five points off 14 Sayre turnovers.

Gabby Bowie led Sayre with 15 points and five rebounds.  Molly Manella added 14 points including two three point baskets and six rebounds.  Grace Rahman chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.

Darrian Botts led Model with 11 points and nine rebounds.  Hayley Hunter added seven points and seven rebounds.

Lexington Christian County defeated Green County by a score of 62-54.  There were 11 lead changes and seven ties in the game.  LCA led 48-31 early in the final quarter but Green County rallied to narrow the margin.  LCA shot 43.2% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 27 of 39 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 27 Green County turnovers.  Green County shot 42.6% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Dragons connected on nine of 21 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 20 LCA turnovers.  LCA held a 27-9 advantage in free throw points and a 26-4 advantage in bench points.

Matt Rose led a balanced LCA attack with 11 points and six rebounds.  6-2 So. Trevor Hill added nine points including seven of eight from the free throw line.  6-7 Jr. Drew Trimble also scored nine points and pulled down five rebounds.  6-5 Sr. Michael Young chipped in with eight points and John Stein added seven points and four steals.

Jayden Willis led Green County with 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Colton Bush added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Coach Kevin Wallace’s Bowling Green Purples defeated Pulaski County 49-14 to capture the state championship and finish 14-0 for the season.  Pulaski County coached by Johnny Hines suffered their first loss of the year and finished 14-1 for the season.  Pulaski County jumped out to a 14-0 lead but Bowling Green rallied to tie the game 14-14 at halftime.  The Purples led 28-14 at the end of three quarters and scored 21 unanswered points in the final quarter.  Bowling Green recorded 17 first downs and 466 yards of total offense.  The Purples were penalized twice for 15 yards and lost a fumble.  Pulaski County recorded 17 first downs and 296 yards of total offense.  The Maroons were penalized three times for 28 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Blake Pillow led Bowling Green’s ground game with 150 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.  Blue Tisdale carried the ball 18 times for 86 yards and two touchdowns.  Devin Hayes completed 13 of 22 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns.  Nacarius Fant caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.  Blue Tisdale added three receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown.  Nacarius Fant returned two punts for 73 yards with a long return of 61 yards.  Tyrecus Sweatt led the defense with six solo and three assisted tackles with four of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 15 yards.  Lincoln Quick added five solo and five assisted tackles.  Sh. Hutchins recorded five solo and two assisted tackles.

Aaron Smith led Pulaski County’s ground game with 48 yards on 13 carries.  Caleb Cox carried the ball 13 times for 45 yards.  Riley Hall added 41 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.  Riley Hall completed 19 of 31 passes for 163 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Jake Johnson caught eight passes for 61 yards and a touchdown.  George Gregory added six receptions for 79 yards.  Aaron Smith returned four kickoffs for 95 yards with a long return of 43 yards.  George Gregory led the defense with seven solo tackles.  C. Holman added three solo and one assisted tackles.  J. Mobley recorded three tackles which resulted in losses totaling 12 yards.

Scott County improves to 15-0 with a 21-14 victory over Meade County who finishes the season at 12-3.  This had to be a dream season for Scott County coach Jim McKee finishing undefeated, winning a state championship and watching his son Clay quarterback the team to victory.  Meade County coached by Larry Mofield battled hard but could not get their offense started until late in the game.  Meade County’s QB John Wilson and Scott County’s QB Clay McKee are cousins.  Scott County took a 7-0 lead but Meade County’s Nick O’Brien returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to the Scott county 1 yard line.  John Wilson then scored on a one yard run but Meade County failed on a two point conversion attempt.  Scott County scored another touchdown and led 14-6 at halftime.  John Wilson scored on an eight yard run and added the two point conversion to tie the score at 14-14 with 4:34 left in the game.  Scott County then started their drive and marched to the Meade County 6 yard line where on third-and-three Clay McKee threw a pass to the sideline to Scott Daniel who dived into the end zone for the score.  Palmer Ward tacked on the extra point to give Scott County a 21-14 lead.  Tyler Carpenter then intercepted a John Wilson pass at the Meade County 47 yard line to snuff out the last Meade County opportunity.

Scott County recorded 17 first downs and 289 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized four times for 35 yards and lost two fumbles.  Meade County recorded nine first downs and 173 yards of total offense.  The Green Wave were penalized three times for 25 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Keith Guy led Scott County’s ground game with 90 yards on 10 carries.  Kevin Claussen carried the ball 19 times for 86 yards and a touchdown.  Clay McKee completed seven of nine passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.  Scott Daniel caught six passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns.  Austin Crank led the defense with eight solo and four assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling nine yards.  Dylan Smith added six solo and one assisted tackles.  Thomas Daniel recorded five solo and two assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  Grayson Miller added four solo and three assisted tackles, recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass.

Jon. Shacklette led Meade County’s ground game with 57 yards on 12 carries.  John Wilson carried the ball 16 times for 49 yards and two touchdowns.  Nick O’Brien recorded 42 yards on six carries.  John Wilson completed one of four passes for seven yards with two interceptions.  John Millay caught one pass for seven yards.  Antwan Ferguson led the defense with 10 solo and one assisted tackles.  John Wilson added six solo and four assisted tackles.  Zeb Wilson recorded six solo tackles.
