Paul Laurence Dunbar vs. Bryan Station

Bryan Station High School
Lexington, KY
October 10, 2013

Paul Laurence Dunbar relied on their old school triple option offense to defeat Bryan Station by a score of 34-28.  Dunbar raced out to a 28-7 halftime lead as Bryan Station did not have an answer for their punishing ground attack that rolled to 343 yards in the first half led by some great line blocking including Joe Samaan, Nick Edge, Chase Siegel, Blake Gilbert, and Jauhquan Harris.  Bryan Station rallied in the second half behind their high octane offense to tie the score at 28-28.  Dunbar then went 80 yards in 10 plays to take a 34-28 lead on a 38 yard touchdown run by AJ Williams with 1:46 left in the game.  Bryan Station was not done and marched to the Dunbar 17 before Marcellis Means broke up a fourth down pass attempt with 17 seconds remaining on the clock.

Dunbar recorded 20 first downs and 491 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized nine times for 66 yards.  Bryan Station recorded 19 first downs and 415 yards of total offense.  The Defenders were penalized nine times for 70 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Cam Pergram led Dunbar’s ground attack with 229 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries.  AJ Williams carried the ball 10 times for 166 yards and two touchdowns.  Jay Coleman carried the ball 12 times for 62 yards.  Emory Thompson completed two of four passes for 13 yards.  AJ Williams caught one pass for eight yards.  Derante Sanders led the defense with 11 solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards.  Brandyn Duncan added seven solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted a pass.
