Great Crossing vs. Madison Central (Girls) (Madison Central High School)

Great Crossing coach Matt Walls started the following lineup: 5-8 Fr. Samantha Brown, 5-6 Sr. Jaelle Henderson, 5-9 Jr, Claire Tierney, 5-5 Fr. Kendall Tierney, and 5-5 Sr. Jenelle Henderson. Madison Central coach Scott True countered with 5-7 Sr. Brooke Campbell, 5-6 Sr. Nataya Strader, 5-10 Sr. Cameryn Ridderikhoff, 5-7 Sr. Brittany Campbell, and 5-5 Jr. Jordynn Miles.

Madsion Central led 24-12 after the first quarter on their way to a 70-55 victory over Great Crossing. Madison Central shot 46.6% from the field including eight of 22 from the three point line. The Lady Indians connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Great Crossing turnovers. Great Crossing shot 40.5% from the field including nine of 20 from beyond the arc. The Lady Warhawks connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.

Nataya Strader led Madison Central with 23 points including five of five free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Cameryn Ridderikhoff added 14 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jordynn Miles recorded 12 points and three rebounds. Brittany Campbell chipped in with nine points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. 5-5 Jr. Skylar Collinsworth added nine points on three three point baskets. Brooke Campbell recorded one point, eight rebounds, 11 assists, and three steals.

Samantha Brown led Great Crossing with 14 points including three three point baskets, three of three free throws, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Kendall Kearney added 13 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists. The Lady Flyers connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 16 LCA turnovers. Lexington Christian Academy shot 25,8% from the field including five of 21 from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on two of six free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored one point off seven Franklin County turnovers.

Keyonna Taylor led Franklin County with 11 points and four rebounds. Juliana Frazee added 10 points, eught rebounds, and two assists. Makiyia Wheeler recorded eight points including four of six free throws, two rebounds, and two steals. Madison Jackson chipped in with seven points, two rebounds, and two assists. Logan Kennedy recorded six points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Frederick Douglass got off to a blazing start and never slowed down as they led 36-12 at halftime on their way to a 68-41 victory over Madison Central and a regional championship. Frederick Douglass shot 51% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line. The Lady Broncos connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 16 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 34.3% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Indians connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Frederick Douglass turnovers.


Jaelee Knowles led Frederick Douglass with 19 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots. Tamia Waude added 18 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and two assists. MK Bennett recorded 12 points including five of five free throws, two rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Peighton Okorley chipped in with five points, seven rebounds, and two steals.


Nataya Strader led Madison Central with 14 points including six of seven free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Brooke Campbell added eight points including two three point baskets, two of two free throws, four blocked shots, and two steals. Brittany Campbell recorded eight points including three of four free throws, and three rebounds, Cameryn Ridderikhoff chipped in with seven points, two rebounds, and two assists.

Frederick Douglass vs. Great Crossing (Boys) (Championship) (Paul Laurence Dunbar High School)

Frederick Douglass coach Murray Gavin started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Aveion Chenault, 6-2 Sr. Jaunte Jenkins, 6-4 Jr. DeMarcus Surratt, 6-2 Jr. Tate Robinson, and 6-2 Sr. Logan Busson. Great Crossing coach Steve Page countered with 6-5 Sr. Vince Dawson III, 6-4 Sr. Gage Richardson, 7-1 Sr. Malachi Moreno, 5-11 Sr. Jamari Mason, and 6-1 So. LJ Holman.

Great Crossing defeated Frederick Douglass 59-57 in a thriller in which Frederick Douglass’ three point attempt at the buzzer for the win fell short. There were three lead changes and two ties in this game. Great Crossing held a 51-38 early in the final quarter but Frederick Douglass finished the game on a 19-8 run which finished two points short. Great Crossing shot 51.2% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored five points off five Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 33.8% from the field including four of 25 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Great Crossing turnovers.

Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and eight blocked shots. Vince Dawson III added 17 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and three assists. LJ Holman recorded seven points, four rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.

Aveion Chenauly led Frederick Douglass with 14 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. DeMarcus Surratt added 14 points and seven rebounds. Jaunte Jenkins recorded nine points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Dakari Talbert added 10 points including two three point baskets and two steals.
