Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Luke Asher, 6-3 Sr. Cody Morrison, 6-7 Jr. Jake Feldhaus, 5-8 Jr. Cam Steele, and 5-11 Jr. Will Richardson. Covington Catholic coach Jake Thelen countered with 6-1 Sr. Nolan Ruthsatz, 6-0 So. Teegan Stava, 6-7 Jr. Donovan Bradshaw, 5-11 Jr. Dylan Gaiser, and 6-0 Jr. Athens McGillis.
Covington Catholic defeated Madison Central by the score of 66-61. Madison Central led 41-31 in the third quarter but Covington Catholic rallied to take a 42-41 lead after three quarters. There were 17 lead changes and eight ties in this contest. Covington Catholic shot 40% from the field including six of 24 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 16 of 24 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 17 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 48.9% from the field including eight of 18 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on sevn of 13 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 12 Covington Catholic turnovers.
Dylan Gaiser led Covington Catholic with 20 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Teegan Stava added 17 points including three three point baskets, four of five free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Athens McGillis recorded 15 points including eight of 13 free throws, five assists, and two steals. Donovan Bradshaw chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds. Nolan Ruthsatz added two points, seven rebounds, and three steals.
Jake Feldhaus led Madison Central with 30 points including five three point baskets, five of six free throws, and nine rebounds. Cody Morrison added 13 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Will Richardson recorded six points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Cam Steele chipped in with six points and two assists.
