Great Crossing coach Steve Page started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Vince Dawson III, 6-5 Sr. Gage Richardson, 7-1 Sr. Malachi Moreno, 5-11 Sr. Jamari Mason, and 6-2 So. LJ Holman. Covington Catholic coach Jake Thelen countered with 6-1 Sr. Nolan Ruthsatz, 6-0 So. Teegan Stava, 6-2 Sr. Tate Kruer, 5-11 Jr. Cash Harney, and 6-0 Jr. Athens McGillis.
Great Crossing defeated Covington Catholic by the score of 77-68. Great Crossing shot 56.1% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line. The Warhawks connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored five points off seven Covington Catholic turnovers. Covington Catholic shot 33.8% from the field including nine of 29 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 14 Great Crossing turnovers.
Malachi Moreno led Great Crossing with 28 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, and five blocked shots. Vince Dawson III added 24 points including five three point baskets, three rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots. LJ Holman recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and four steals. 6-0 Jr. Travanti Cooper chipped in with nine points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Cash Harney led Covington Catholic with 31 points including four three point baskets, five of five free throws, three rebounds, two assists, and five steals. Athens McGillis added 21 points including 10 of 12 free throws, three rebounds, and four assists. Nolan Ruthsatz recorded 11 points including three three point baskets and eight rebounds.
